Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wasn’t sure if I should buy this guide or the Makita equivalent guide as I was unsure if it would accept my Makita DHS680Z 18v Circular Saw & Makita 196953-0 Guide Rail.
The price difference made me go for the Evolution track.

The Makita guide rail fits perfectly to the Evolution track. The Makita rail can be adjusted to take out any slack between it and the circular saw.

The only downside between the Evolution track against the Makita track is that the Makita guide rail has a secondary point that locks it flat into a second slot on the Makita track, so that the saw blade is locked vertically.
This would keep the saw completely flat when cutting.

The Evolution track doesn’t have the second lock in slot and so you could possibly cut in a perfect straight line, but you could move the saw slightly out of vertical.
I would think this would only be a problem if you were cabinet making etc.

Well made tracks that line up properly when connecting together. Provide smooth and accurate cuts. Clamps are a bit fiddly to tighten especially as you are usually using them blind, a ratchet type would be more convenient. Only grouse is the bag, the velcro “fastening” is a waste of time, I’m going to have to attach some sort of straps to keep it closed, a job for a rainy day!

For the price, this is good, the bag supplied is too small to fit rails in comfortably, you must attach the rails against a strait edge, as there is a bit of play before you tighten it up and no lip on the rail to hold the saw on 45 angle cuts. But set it up carefully and it will make normal long cuts well

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter a lot of research on compatibility with my Festool TS55 I decided that as I needed to cut sheets, the occasional door and bit of cabinet work and without any secondhand rails about, I concluded that two 1400mm rails were the way forward.
As a keen diyer I couldn’t justify the cost of Festool rails which would set me back around 185 for the rails alone.
These rails are a bargain – no others come close to rails, clamps and bag for this sort of money.
If I want to customise a little I will eventually replace the clamps for quick clamps and the various strips for Makita or Festool, as there isn’t a huge difference in cost for the consumables.
I have seen the reviews mention the poor quality of the clamps but any fool knows you should always have a sacrificial packer between any metal clamp and a finished workpiece. Even the softer faces clamps can cause denting or damage, so the clamps are perfectly useable and if I get fed up with them I will upgrade for better ones when the wife is not looking.

It does what it says on the box & gives a very straight cut.

Used this for cutting a parquet floor back to install a border detail and trimming doors, it’s no festool but it does the job I also got the 2 longer tracks and clamps separately as the 300mm tracks supplied are good enough but a bit of a pain for longer areas

    Brilliant for the price

You’d be a fool not to buy this if you’ve purchased the Evolution plunge saw. 3 lengths and easy clamps all in a great little carry case

Great product but bad quality control – sent to me without the two small bars for joining the tracks into one length. Chatted on Amazon and helpful rep’ asked me to confirm missing parts on Evolution website then gave me partial refund so I could buy them. Great I thought – no need to send the whole lot back. The catch? Only free postage on orders over the amount I was spending so I ended up out of pocket. Thanks Evolution:(

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirst time I’ve used a saw rail, the best thing is it can clamp to the material being cut without risking the clamps ever blocking the saw itself like would be the case with a straight edge and ratchet clamps or G-clamps.
I bought this for my Evolution saw which I’ve had a couple of years so not really old. I knew it didn’t specifically say it would fit it but was hoping they hadn’t changed the design. Unfortunately they have so the distance from the cutting edge to the guide rail was different – I needed to use a TCT blade on the first pass to trim the rail down to size. Another gripe was that to achieve a true straight cut, rather than butting the ends of the rails together I needed to intentionally have a small gap at one end as they aren’t manufactured square. These issues aside after some practice and modification I was able to fit a full kitchen with this, easily >100 cuts and the results were perfectly fine!
In summary, it works with potential mods, and worth what I paid IMO. If you want perfection out of the box then spend x3 times as much.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersPurchased this along with my Evolution Circular Saw having read a number of reviews. I like the Evolution brand for DIYing and this is perfect….for the DIYer. Accuracy is not as good as other tracks I’ve used but as long as you’re always considering it then you’ll have no issues. The sacrifical edge should give a pretty good guide after the 1st cut.

My biggest issue with it is not the track itself but the clamps. Foolishly the clamped it on a kitchen worktop and the screw made an indentation on it which I cannot get out. Why these aren’t quick release is beyond me. I have to use a piece of foam so it doesn’t leave any marks. Something like these would be much better suited: https://amzn.eu/d/iA7t6rZ

Overall it’s a good piece of kit with room for improvement, something I hope Evolution are looking into.

Great track but there's a bu

Nice case, seems flat and level, nice clamps. A good product. Just be careful with the word “compatible” as the Bosch saw doesn’t fit over the guide rail, it is just guided against the edge.

Brilliant bit of kit if you have a guide compatible saw. Make sure you lubricate the surface with PTFE or silicone spray and make a first pass to trim the white plastic edge.
Used it for cutting insulated conservatory roof panels (aluminium skin, rubber layer and expanded foam insulation) and got perfect lines every time

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a review of the Evolution guide rail/tracks 2400mm & 1400mm.

Some time ago I purchased the 2400mm track kit. Just brilliant, comparing the cost to other track manufacturers, they are very cost effective indeed.

The track is true and sturdy. However, I found it a little inconvenient at times, if for example I had a piece of material about 1600 mm to cut. With both lengths of track having be joined for an extra 200mm,in order to cover the the whole cut, a great deal of track was left overhanging at both ends.

So I decided to buy the the smaller kit (1400mm) in order to just extend one piece of the original track by one piece of the small kit (700mm), which would be a much better length of track to work with for that smaller piece of material.
However, when it arrived the track had a bend in its width and would not line up causing the saw to jam.

So it was replaced with no problems by Amazon within 2days, (which is an amazing service)?

The second kit was OK, but I had trouble lining the sections up and butting the joints together.

I put a straight edge along the back of the tracks and pulled them to fit to this straight edge.

I could see the the cut ends on one piece were not square so by connecting the track and fitting the connection bars meant that on the joint there was a small gap on the front side of the track?

So I tightened up the joining bars in this position, and it worked when making the cut?

I can only assume that in manufacture, Evolution make 1400mm pieces of track and that the smaller two piece kit are those full length tracks, cut in half (700mm) on another machine, which is not as precise or accurate as the manufacturing machines track ends?

If an Evolution Sliding Mitre Saw is available fitted with a multi materials cutting blade, then a simple trim on the end at a 90 degree angle would sort it, making the whole track system absolutely perfect (in my opinion anyway).

Perhaps Evolution would be better off using one of their own Sliding Mitre Saws, for the track cutting, on those smaller pieces?

I was a little apprehensive when purchasing these tracks as some reviews stated that they weren’t accurate when joined together..but I compared them against my makita guide rails and one of the brands wasn’t 100% true..
So I got 1800mm level out and laid it against the side of the evolution which seemed straight, but once I ran the saw through it certainly wasn’t.. you have to put the level against the part that the saw follows and adjust until that is straight..very fiddly..
So even though at first impressions I thought the evolution joined straight it need fine adjustment.

Brilliant piece of kit. I bought it for use with the Evolution circular saw which I love.
The only, extremely minor issue I have is that the allen key required to join the two halves together gets lost in the storage pocket in the bag. This is being really picky as I have taken it out and put it in my screwdriver bits box which I have with me at all times.
I can certainly recommend this track to anyone.

Great value , suits the Makita plung saw , my only gripe would be the clamp as you tighten they leave a mark from the screw that holds the cup , I marked 2 oak doors with them . I have a pair of makita clamps that fit so will be using them .

Used to cut straight lines while building a 2.1m tall kitchen cabinet, carcass and doors. Easy to use and provides a reliable guide for circular saws. My saw didn’t fit the track, but I used the straight edge as my guide with no problem.

    Useful accessory

Rails arrived in good straight condition with everything there. Fit together well including two useful clamps. Comes with a carry bag
    Important info not everyone mentions.

These fit theMcallister saw from Screwfix just fine. Don’t know about any others. Cheaper than most other rails tho still seems a lot for a couple of bits of ally.

I bought these guides to see if they would go with my Bosch circular saw, and although the saw fits onto the rails and cuts beautifully it does lean over very very slightly, i’m talking about the blade not being at 90 degs but i am talking less than a mm so for the perfectionists out there, buy a Bosch one, but for anyone else on a budget these are great rails. i’ve used to chop down doors to size rather than using a plane, work surfaces etc. brilliant.
