    pros:
smooth running, no jumping on material
quiet running, even on full speed
    strong hook and loop
not that heavy as suspected, can be held for long hours
    does the job well

    cons:
I found the hook and loop maybe too strong, it feels like I’m gonna tear off the base, when removing the sanddisc. Maybe it will ease up as getting worn.

If you use this professionally with a hoover attached and clean regularly with air from a compressor you can sand off top and tie coats back to gel coat of a 28ft hull in about 2days if you work hard and use the right disks.

I found 6hole a 80grit the best, I changed every 6ftx3ft, a very good bit of kit and the price is affordable and really gets the job done so far…

I’d 5 star everything but want to see how it copes with 2pack hempadur keying

I ordered this sander before reading another review that stated the sander was wired for a 240V European outlet. I tried to cancel, but it had already shipped. The Amazon.ca product description is a mess and lists a number of incorrect details…including the voltage as 240V. I was pleasantly surprised when the sander showed up that it was wired for North American 120V outlets. Works great!

Bought this to sand fences, 30×1.8m long to be exact did the job still intact, Allan key located on the power cord easy to miss. Wish there would been a bag included as let’s be honest it would cost just few bucks for company like Makita at most. One sand pad included 80 grit. Dust collector works fine to get all the wood dust, a bit on heavy side at 2kgs if not mistaken but not a bad thing. All in can’t fault the machine.

It’s a monster! Easy to use and makes short work of tasks. My only gripe is that it is a little heavy for any task that requires you to work off the horizontal. I was sanding a large beam, and it really got the arms and shoulders aching after a short period. But that might just be me being feeble

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Users35 years cabinet/millwork/carpentry experience. i can finish anything when it comes to woodworking, paint, lacquer, 2 part, poly/varnish, hand rubbed, etc. having the right sander for the right finish is key. this is my arsenal which includes the makita BO6030, BO4900V and 9924DB.

makita BO6030, 99% swirl free sander. balanced, quiet, quality and made in UK.
makita BO4900V, very impressive! just as good as porter cable (USA model) 505. really like grip on top. primers, sealers and in between coats, i use 320 grit and man talk about smooth!!! MADE IN JAPAN!
makita 9924DB i prefer rear handle over top handle. this is my 2nd 9924db, gave my old one to my best friend… still uses it at his cabinet shop. its over 20yr old. MADE IN JAPAN!
other models to find, “MUST HAVES!”
porter cable 303, 505 and 7336 older models only MADE IN USA, some of the best quality and finishes ever!
METABO SXE450 MADE IN GERMANY or old rigid (the orange sanders in pic) sanders made by metabo. not the hitachi metabo new crap. one of the best dual action sanders ever!
FESTOOL ETS 125 decent 5″ sander for face frames and stiles and rails. i own a lot of festool… meh ok for today’s standards, bets china crap, but not as good as old school tools.
bottom line BUY QUALITY! yes some of my tools are china crap. ALL companies nowadays uses some parts outsourced from other countries. so when you find tools made in the USA, JAPAN, SWITZERLAND, GERMANY, buy’em buy’em buy’em they will last a looooooong time and make you $$$$$!

    NOT MADE IN CHINA!

I hooked it up to my screwfix Hoover and sanded the walls on hall landing and stairs very quickly with surprisingly little dust. Probably one of the few electric Sanders I would consider using on car bodywork if that’s what your thinking of (although personally I don’t think you can beat a decent air sander for that).

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersDie sehr guten Eigenschaften der Maschine wurden hier bereits hinreichend beschrieben.
    https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0007ZDT4W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00OHOHDJQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersYou need to make sure you get proper branded sanding discs – those generic packs are pants. They either sand slow or unstick or both.

Also this sander has extra suction holes – get the discs that have all the holes in them not just the middle six holes otherwise the dust extractor doesn’t work very well.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI love Amazon for the way it gives great prices from time to time in the form of a discount at checkout. I just took advantage of that with some new 18v LXT lawn and garden care tools. I kinda flexed the credit card, and now have a sweet new system of outdoor tools. No disappointments when they arrived. They have a heft and capability that I was hoping for, and made in Japan aside from the batteries and chargers. Meanwhile, my inner woodworker self was screaming for some attention. When I found this RO sander at a fair price, plus discount, it gave me the the thumbs up. I thought it was also a Japan made Makita, which is my favorite kind. (no China bashing here all the same) Turns out it is made in the United Kingdom, which is my other favorite kind!! So far so good. So far I’ve just toyed around with it, so I’ll have to update this review when I’ve put some hours on this baby. It’s a bit bigger than your typical 5″ RO sander and weighs a fair bit more. More metal in it’s construction. Owning several palm size sanders I’m thinking of this as a “legacy” model, that can be handed down, or at least buried with me!! To sum up, I feel Makita tools are state of the art, and if you shop carefully you can take advantage of the best tools available, period. I would recommend carefully determining the country of origin of any given tool, and not hesitating on the Japan made (or UK made) models. I’ve amassed a nice collection of drill/drivers, trim router, belt sander, palm sander and router bits all made in Japan with great Amazon discounts. Maybe I’m a kook, just sharing what I know. Good luck. GW

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWell balanced, low vibration, quiet, minimal swirl marks and great dust collection while using vacuum or bag. Even with typical 6 hole paper. This is not an extremely aggressive sander because of the 1/8 orbit however it does a really nice job of removing belt sanding lines and generally flattening a surface. Has a rather firm pad to aid in keep things FLAT. I follow up this sander with a 3/32 orbital to be %100 sure there are no swirl marks. Would highly recommend for table tops.

It is noisy, for the dust it is so, so, for the performance, was ok before the bearing seize. I bought this new Makita and it’s very light, 2/3 less noise, a lot less vibration, no dust and it work incredible well. I like the way the pad it made, you can put Festool paper and 8 holes standard paper(I work with SIA paper). It’s a very good product a I’m very happy about the quality of the product. I like to work with pine, birch and maple.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI bought the Makita BO6030 6-inch RO sander to augment my Porter-Cable 5-inch RO sander, mostly for table tops and isolated floor-refinishing purposes. That being said, I have also found it useful for veneered plywood cabinet panels, making short work of what the smaller P-C sander is capable of. Prior to choosing this 2.7 amp model, I debated between it and the newer 6.6 amp version (Makita BO6040); and basically, it all boiled down to relative amperage and vacuum-attached dust collection. Ultimately, my decision to buy the older BO6030 was based on a study of the respective motor designs in question (referring to the owner’s manual schematics, as given on Makita’s website). This revealed that the 2.7 amp model has a single-stage motor, with the center of gravity being located over the sanding pad, where it should be, whereas the newer, 6.6 amp model contains a two-stage motor, meaning that in the latter case, more than twice as much electrical expenditure is required to achieve the same output effect, combined with a possible loss of balance relative to the wood surface! (And probably the same holds true for the new generation of “higher-amp” 6-inch RO sanders by other brands like Bosch.) As to the 2.7 amp sander’s vacuum dust-collection capacity, I have found that removing the dust bag and replacing it with a 5′ Makita vacuum hose (their no. 192278-0) connected to a universal adapter and a Ridgid shop vacuum and hose leaves little or no dust behind and the entire set-up matches perfectly. My only complaint has to do with the lack of compatible sanding sheets. Six-hole Mirka sanding sheets seem to work fine, provided that one cut a nickel-sized central hole in each sheet with a utility knife; otherwise, one has to contend with an overly-strong suction effect during operation that also slows down the motor. But noting that we woodworkers like to cut things, this does not seem to be a big deal. Overall, this sander is also less prone to leaving “pigtails” than the smaller P-C version is; so I will probably be turning to the Makita BO6030 model as my primary hand-held sander from here on. Buy it while you still can, as it would appear to be on the way of being phased-out (this being evinced from discontinued accessory items, etc.).
