Great product, especially the laser facility which is invaluable to get the correct cut line
The one downside is the clamp is wrongly positioned if you want to use blade at 45 degree angle as it interferes with the cutting.

Very good at what it does with the various angles. The multi blade is fantastic no need to change blades during the job. Nice clean cuts from wood, plastic to metal

The only downfall to this machine is its size and has limitations on how big/long you can cut. With that said I knew that when I bought it as read the specs. On those limited times I can just flit the material round ie laminate flooring you are about 3cm short form a full clean cut but as I say flipped it round and finished the cut, much quicker and cleaner than a jigsaw for that type of job. Cutting cls etc for framing just flies through i

My two cents as a Professional carpenter for 18 years. Buy it. Is it the best cordless saw you can buy? Obviously not. Is it the best cordless saw you can buy for under 250? Absolutely. Battery life is fair to good. 45 was only 0.2 degrees out of the box, so not even worth adjusting. As everyone else has stated extraction is dogshit. But you have to change the way you cut to get maximum extraction. Cutting full depth will draw sawdust straight up into the guard which gives much better extraction. Weight and size, huge plus as it fits comfortably in a lockbox. Over all IMO fantastic product for the money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI needed to cut wider than the evolution compound mitre saw, but didn’t want to go with either the 210 or 255 as they are big for storage, this 185 fits the bill perfectly, great saw as well.

It is a very good saw but could be a lot better with changes to the saw blade insert if you are only using it for 90 degree cuts and the dust control is none existent which is a disappointment to say the least.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAccurate laser guide, very good blade, clamp just a little fussy – no good way to attach an additional clamp either side of the blade but this is not very important, safe design. Very happy with it.

Very easy to set up and to use. I primarily purchased this to help my daughter refurbish her new house. After only a minute or two of explaining how the saw works, she was off and running on her own. She has also said how easy it is to use.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhat a lovely bit of kit! Straight out of the box the mitres, straight cuts and bevels are accurate, I brought this to cut arcs and mouldings so Impressed ..Nice to buy something for a change and not feel its been thrown together or its close to being great but not quite right ” you get my meaning ”

Setting up looks a bit scary when you open the box but it’s really not its very intuitive and goes together easy, be mindful though! There are two spring loaded lugs on the side of the sliding rail the need to sit into the lug holes, mine got stuck first attempt but easily resolved ..there a good clip on YouTube that shows how to reset if needed.

I can’t comment on the overall durability because I’ve owned the saw o ly for a couple of days but early signs are excellent..

One more important point I own a few Urbauer EXT tools…the batteries are the same 4ah works with this saw fine ..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAssembly isn’t too hard at all.

Once running it rips through wood in no time, no effort at all,

The only downside I’ve found (as pictured) despite the sawdust bag sawdust goes -everywhere-. I suspect <5% goes in the bag.

That aside for the price it's excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great apart from sawdus

My first mitre saw was second hand and came ready assembled, so you can imagine my horror on opening the box and discovering I had to put it together! Thankfully, they provided a pretty easy to follow video, and apart from one wee bit I just didn’t understand, it was quite straight forward. My son of course, arrived and finished the job without needing the video at all. Oh to have a practical brain! I only use it for cutting firewood for my stove, but I really like it. It is quite lightweight, but is still perfectly sturdy for the job.

Recently bought this for a 30 sq metre decking project, and so far it has worked really well and definitely one of the better mitre saws in the market – for the price you cant go wrong. Not bulky and fairly easy to lift and move around.
Iv used it on 120mm treated timber, no problem at all slices through like butter.
Used on composite decking as well and no problem at all.
Finally used on 100mm fence posts, had to cut twice by turning the post around – as long as you measure correctly it will cut through fine.
The blade has worked well so far. I used the laser guide in the start, but after a few uses you can sort of judge the cut and carry on with ease.
Haven’t yet had a chance to use it on Mitre/Bevel cuts yet, but the way its going doubt there will be any issues, overall quite pleased with the purchase and a fairly decent brand – Evolution, definitely recommend for DIY.

I’m no woodworker, but I got some great results with this. It a little bit complicated if you are unfamiliar with this kind of saw, but the instructions are well written and illustrated, and it once set up I only needed two practice cuts before I got stuck in, and then those extra fearures prived very handy. Mitre joints were the best I’ve ever done. The laser guide is a great feature! Definitely recommended. Would buy again.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWanted to give this a some extended use before leaving a review, as too often your first opinion can change over time.
Must say that I am genuinely impressed. The cut is true and although I did need to make a slight adjustment to the set up when first used, this is something that you should always check and not rely that everything is 100% accurate.
The blade provided is a good multipurpose cutting one. And because of the extended cutting arm it will go through objects of significant size. The bevel/mitre cuts are true and will not move during multiple cuts.
The unit is solid though lightwieght and portable (this was the reason I purchased a smaller saw- I got fed up with tha agro of lugging a larger one around all the time).
Set up is easy (although as I noted earlier, check the blade accuracy when setting up- there are some easy to follow youtube videos that will guide you through the procedure). And register with Evolution for the warrantee- it’s very easy to do.
Remember though, as good as this is, it is an entry level saw- and it will have it’s limitations.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI brought this to make a picket fence, as buying the materials and tools was cheaper than getting my local fencing company out.

This saw made the job easy, and enjoyable.
I wish I’d brought the saw with the larger blade but otherwise I was really pleased with this purchase.

The laser cutting guide is brilliant, the blade still works fine having completed a couple of days work.

The timber clamps are light duty, don’t expect them to clamp a 9ft long piece of wood and hold it still. They are adequate for what the saw is designed for.

I look forward to taking on my next DIY project, which is all you can ask of a tool.

This is actually really good and great value for money. The blade is decent, though gets rough quickly if you use the saw to cut through nail-filled wood (as you would expect). I only use with de-nailed wood.
It’s small-ish and can sometimes struggle with thicker wood that is also wide.

Overall would definitely recommend (for home use, my friend is a builder and says they wear out too quickly for proper site work) .

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersSince I haven’t had as much experience with compound mitre saws I asked a colleague of mine to give me an opinion about the product as he does do carpentry on a side so he would know much more. He said that he heard a lot of good things about the Evolution brand and as he tried the product he said it was solid, the only issue he noticed was that the head moves slightly which might cause imprecise cuts, however, it is not too bad, and the benefit of having a sliding head is well worth a slight wobble.
I tried the product myself as well and I found it to be more than adequate for anything I could throw at it in a non-professional capacity. It performs as you would expect and I have no complaints, it is a bit loud but it is a 1200 Watt electric motor which is really powerful and I couldn’t overload it.
I love the configurability of this product, it has a lot of latching pins, adjustable clamps, adjustment screws, etc. to help you achieve the desired cut with ease, and I love it. The product comes very well packaged and is on a heavier side (12 kg), the assembly is easy to follow but takes some time (15 min) to get everything in place. The blade is easy to mount, you just need to be careful that it clicks in place otherwise it might break due to the misalignment problems, I love that they have a special holder for the Allen key needed to tighten the blade so you won’t lose it. The blade is made out of Japanese tungsten so it can cut through various materials, however, I wouldn’t cut too thick metal with it as it will ruin the blade quickly, as it goes with every other universal product, it is good for a lot of things, but does not excel in any of them. But having one blade to cut most of the things is so liberating since you do not have to swap the blade whenever you decide to cut different material, so the drawbacks are more than justified.
The laser guide is very useful to me as it gives you unprecedented accuracy over not having anything at all but it is not very visible and in direct sunlight, I would guess it would be practically unusable.
Overall, I like this product very much, and the rave reviews I read about Evolution power tools are more than justified, the quality is excellent for the price you pay (116) and the versatility and usefulness of this saw is something else so I can recommend this product easily.

    Great value for money

  68. Stepani4967 says:

This saw is a brilliant power tool when working on your house or anything else. The saw its self is easy to set up. You can set the blade just to come down or have a pull and push down cutting too. The settings are excellent for getting the right angle. I will say that when you start the blade up you do feel a bit of a kick from it. I would suggest making sure you know what you are doing before starting up the blade. It just not cut wood. This is a great all round tool, The video above tells you exactly what you can do. Worth a watch to see what you can do with it.

Great chop saw for the price.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersProbably one of the best mitre saws I’ve ever owned.

Arrives in a big box, with warnings as the whole thing weighs over 12Kg. You get everything you need in the box including a multi-purpose blade, a bag for the dust and the instructions for assembley. The instructions are incredible, you’re looking at around 30-40 mins to put it together, it’s bulky and complex piece of kit and obviously a dangerous power tool if you don’t take the necessary care when putting it together. Like most pieces of kit like this, reverse thread on the moving part to ensure the blade stays locked in place during use.

Set it up in my workshop and gathered a few different types of materials to give it good try out as the blade is stated as being multipurpose I decided I’d test it out. Then plat has guide locks to ensure you clamp the material to be cut, into place properly. The plate has lots of flexibility to ensure you can move the materials around to get them into position just right. The head has adjusters so you can set angle and depth for more intricate work so that you can set the cut just right and be certain when you go for it.

I tried some scrap pieces of wood to begin with as wood should be a doddle for it, softwood and some medium hardwood and it went through it without any trouble. I then stepped up to try out some copper piping and some old aluminium strips, I wanted to see how rough the edging was after the cut. No worries at all, went through soft metals with no trouble, there was no tearing or grating, the edges was smoothish and just need a second or two to manually file off the scarf and ready to fit, the blade is super sharp and precise. Finally stepped up to some small thin pieces of steel, like a hot knife through butter! Even on cutting steel the blade left very little to file to file off.

I’ve already got a mitre saw I bought around 18 months ago which cost just a little more than this one and after using this Evolution saw I’ve given my old saw to a friend, the Evolution beats my old saw, indeed almost any home bench mitre saw, hands down.

If you’re used to using a full industrial mitre saw then sure this doesn’t really compare, it’s not supposed to this is a home mitre saw for the DIY and hobbyist with a workshop who needs to get some work done. However this is no slacker, it would certainly give a saw 5 times the price a run for its money!

If you’ve been looking for a quality mitre saw for a large home DIY project to add to your home workshop, look no further this is the saw you need you buy.

This compound saw came in a large box and it took a little while to assemble it following the instruction booklet. The whole unit is well made, good quality materials and workmanship, very sturdy, and with plenty safety features. But still, you need to take great care using the machine as it is very powerful and the blade very sharp. The operation is reasonably straightforward – watching youtube videos does help if you are not experienced. I have tried a few different materials, wood, plastics, copper pipes, the machine handles them easily. The cut lines are very neat and precise – with laser guide. The dust collecting box is very useful.

Overall, very impressed. And the price at 90 is very competitive. I would recommend this.

My dad put this together yesterday (it does not come pre-made up). It was a simple enough task he said and he was soon up and going. As the owner of a hand mitre saw, this one, which comes with one multi-purpose blade as well as a dust bag (which you do need for materials such as plastic), gives a super accurate and perfectly neat cut. He is really happy with it and tells me that for the price he would recommend it as a very good buy.

I use this with wood but interesting to know it will deal with metal.
Very impressed with the laser guide, the dust collection bag, the speed and ease of use, the accuracy of cutting etc etc.
Cut straight through or angle the wood, wide or acute angles , it deals with them all.
Fairly easy to set up and it helps to read the instructions.
    Delighted with this tool.

Be warned, the box is large,, Don’t worry though it doesn’t take long to get to grips with all the bits and pieces inside, You can watch the online video as well as the provided instructions.
Please don’t forget, this is a high speed, rotating, cutting blade, if you are in any doubt about putting the bits and pieces together always seek help and guidance from somebody with experience of these tools and Always, always use appropriate eye protection and PPE when operating this tool.
My main use for this saw is cutting plastic multi compartment Dado trunking and Mini Trunking, I prefer the much neater edges that this saw produces than using a handheld hacksaw. It copes well, but does produce a lot of plastic swarf so make sure you use the dust bag or better still a power take off vacuum cleaner.
The cutting angles and slides are very precise and do produce accurate cuts. I have used this saw for quite a few installs and it’s coped well, the blade has remained sharp, precise and maintained its balance. I have yet to use it to cut aluminium Dado, that will be a trial to review. Overall it’s a budget saw, providing you’re sensible with its use, storage and routine cleaning you should get quite years of trouble free usage.

We managed to cut through thick pieces of wood and pipes with ease (the laser helped). It seems to be very accurate as well. Perfect for the DIY projects that needs doing around the house and garden.

The best part, it comes with a 3 year warranty!

    Quality, sturdy and sharp

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst thing to bare in mind, there is a fair amount of putting together, doesn’t come ready to go, it’s not difficult to do, but you’ll need half an hour, instruction are very clear

When all together it looks great.

Comes with one blade which is multi purpose, this again you’ll need to fit, easy to fit, just remember when fitting the screw is reverse threaded, blade is clearly marked for which way to install it, there is a very good blade cover to protect you from the blade.

The mitre saw has clear markings and an easy to rotate head to position the blade, locks nice and tight. You also have a depth gauge so you are able to adjust the depth of the cut. Included is a clamp for retrial including piping.
Easy to angle the blade to change the angles up to 45 degrees, all very easy to adjust.

Comes with a dust bag to attach to the back of the mitre, this fits well and you really do need this, there is a lot of dust when cutting.

Cutting was excellent, I tried soft wood and the cut was very cut, I tried cutting through various things, Plastic piping, hard wood, copper piping, and every cut was very clean, very good in fact.

This is a really impressive mitre saw, is small enough to be portable, seems to cut through more or less anything within reason, and the blade remained sharp.

Only thing to remember, according to Evolution you can only use Evolution blades, not universal blades, due to RPM and bore size, however, I’ve found Saxton blades which say they will work with it. I can’t find Evolution blades on Amazon.

I do like this, its a great tool, I’m very pleased with it, easy to use and does a brilliant job.

Fantastic table saw which sits nicely on the workbench. Just make sure to secure it in place, as once the blade spins, it tends to vibrate a tad. Super sharp and cuts through timber like butter. Perfect for any DIY projects you may have. Easy to set up and use too. Top quality and very good value for your money.
