I put off buying a Dremel for a long time, how wrong I was. It really gets everything I throw at it done, from sanding to cutting metal. Very impressed.

Love this gadget I only wish I had bought one years ago it was expensive but so worth it I love all the bits and bobs that came with it and is easy to use, the only thing I don’t like is that it’s really powerful and shakes my arthritic hands so much I have to keep switching it off to recover but apart from that it’s brillia

I’m only learning to use this tool and all it’s accessories, but love it so far. There are many cheaper versions, but I think paying extra for such a quality brand.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wanted to take the bulk head out of my van, I had steel rivets in and I tried every thing I could but they were sitting in a small crevice that nothing could touch I was watching a how to use a Dremel on the u watch channel when I got the idea, so purchased the Dremel, It whipped through the steel rivets with no problem.
also cut the small board that stopped the bulkhead on the floor from coming loose, It’s fantastic I wish I had found it earlier. I’m now looking at using it for craft projects, if you have small working space this is a great tool.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst up, I bought a cheap version of a Dremel a few months back for a small project and almost had my eye taken out when a bit flew off while in use. Recently found myself in need of it again and decided to buy an original Dremel. It’s absolutely worlds apart. It helped get the job I needed done and I intend on using it for a few little projects in the pipeline. Super easy to use! It’s a little uncomfortable to hold but there’s an accessory to aid in holding comfortably and I found the bit that clamps the accessories likes to cling on when trying to remove them again. Probably heat induced but simple enough to fix. Brilliant bit of kit.

I have owned a few of these now. Im not sure if I try make it do too much or they are just a bit fragile but I have managed to break them all. The switch seems to over heat quickly and then bang – luckily prime deliver the following day!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI agonised over this purchase for ages, looking at different makes (mostly cheaper), secondhand ones and other alternatives. But in the end I decided that if I was going to get anything to help with railway modelling it needed to be this one. So I waited for it to be on special offer and snapped it up quick before they changed the price. I’ve already used it to file down some protruding screws, sand around a small hole, cut model railway tracks and adapt an old steel drill fitting by removing the end. It is not immediately obvious how to tighten the chuck so that was a YouTube video worth watching. Most of the time it sits in the box of course, but when I need it, it’s a doddle to use.

Excellent tool for all sorts of jobs. Tools supplied are of great quality but third party ones should do as well although some are very poor especially wire brush wheels.

I’ve had a smaller genuine Dremel for years, but was tempted by the cheaper copies when I needed another tool with a flexible driveshaft. However, other reviewers persuaded me to stick with the ‘real thing’ and this deal at a brilliant price made it a simple choice. So far the tool has been every bit as good as others have said; quiet, powerful with minimal vibration. I look forward to many more years great use, long after the (small) extra cost has been forgotten!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a truly great Dremel, and I suspect it will last me my lifetime, lest I buy a cordless model.

I’d considered buying one of the cheaper versions from another brand many, many times.. alas, I know they will fail on me in short order, be of sub-par quality, and the bits/tool heads are usually poor.

This kit is worth every penny, and will probably never fail for as long as you’ll ever need it. Buy the right tool, once. Take care of it, it will take care of you.

The kit comes with a variety of tool heads, perfect for whatever your needs.. cutting, sanding, polishing, grinding etc. Whilst the replacement tool-heads are a little more expensive than the unbranded counter-parts, they’re of far superior quality, and they’re honestly not that much more.

Need I say more? It’s a great product.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery impressed with the power of this basic Dremel. I have smaller battery rotary tools of different makes, but this is much more powerful and smoother running and makes short work of previously daunting sharpening jobs. Hands do get a bit numb if held too long even though it feels so smooth, so I’d still recommend anti vibration gloves if you can wear them safely.

It is, however, not as versatile as it could be, because the speed control is poor, and it tends to keep accelerating, especially at the slower speeds, so you will not be doing much drilling with it. To an extent you can get around this by drilling with carbide burs and end mills, but it is difficult to control them to get the neat hole you get with a drill. There are carbide drills proper, but the unstable speed control soon breaks them.
To get the full potential you will need the right angle drive attachment, as, otherwise, the cable stops you getting into tight spots (such as sanding rust inside a microwave oven compartment which i did with the attachment so i could repaint recently).

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersA great tool that does many jobs well but I had a cheap one before this from B&Q and although it was only a quarter of the price of the Dremel it did all the same jobs but was thinner & lighter. Not built as well as the Dremel & not as many accessories but if you only want it for grinding or small one off jobs I would opt for one of the cheaper storebrands.
Shame really as I had always wanted one of these & had built it up in my mind to be a great bit of kit & it’s just not light enough or versatile enough with its chunky body.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis was the best option for me to own a dremel. I wanted the tool for drilling very small holes and buying a bundle kit would have been pointless. The kit contains so much stuff which I don’t need and the bits in the kits tend to be fairly crummy anyway. I would rather buy premium accessories and bits as and when I need them.
I got a dremel, a canvas bag and a quick change adaptor and a few bits and pieces, I didn’t pay for a whole load of stuff I didn’t need. This was the perfect option for me because it was considerably cheaper than the bundle packages. The unit is okay, I have fitted a drill chuck and I get great results. However, if I was using the collets provided I would not be getting great results. The collets provided are amateur, they are not concentric. This means that if you put a 3mm router bit in the collet you will get a 3 point something groove. Considering that most people who get a dremel have to do accurate work, this is ridiculous. The tool is rendered sketchy diy level because of the awful collets. Good for what I needed, perhaps not that great though for other things considering the awful collets.

I bought this as a used item and it didn’t come with a warranty card, so I was very disappointed when the motor stopped working after very little use, but too late for a return … OR SO I THOUGHT.

Always wanted a multi tool. So took the plunge and brought one. Not used it on much, but it’s a handy tool.for those smal quick job. At full speed it very noise and fast! Even at the lowest speed setting it is fast. The on/off switch/slider (also the speed control) feels like to me it’s fitted the wrong way around, more suitable for a left handedness, I am right handed, and when I go to switch the device off I am sliding the the switch the wrong way (increasing the speed).gives me a fright! Hence the 4 score. Maybe I’m just not familiar with the tool yet. The accessories that come with the package have limited use, I can see myself buying more. What would have been nice if it was cordless and the easy release feature for the accessories.

I use mine for crafting and table top projects like drilling holes in stones, rock/wood carving. The versatility of this Dremel is with the attachments and the wide range of bits for it, I have many from plain drills, burrs, grinders, polishing, sanding and wire brushing and more.

I have used Dremel tools like this in the past. This purchase offers great value for money for such a high-quality tool. I bought an Amazon return from the warehouse and so the deal was even better. The only reason for dropping a star is that the case it came with really needs to be sturdier to be of benefit. Its size and compartments are fine, but it’s really flimsy. The side walls need to be stronger and the fabric thicker all around. Its adequate for my needs, but a pity that Dremel does not put as much thought into its packaging / casing as it does into its electrical products.

  32. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Have tried many cheaper brands, the Dremel is much better because its speed control is excellent covering a wide speed range rather than the usual narrow range of lesser known brands, and it is quieter too I think. The only thing that bugs me with this set, that included the extension attachment, is that there were cheap skates and only included one collet and tool holder (the part that screws on and tightens up to hold the collet and ratary tool attachment into the Dremel). This means that you have to swap it between the Dremel and the extension when needed, which is a time-consuming pain in the bottom.

  33. MatthewHeflin says:

A few years back I bought a cheap version of the Dremel it cost half the price and came with more accessory’s than this one and it worked, but the collets seemed to wear and not grip the shafts of the various attachments and to make things worse being a not well known make the collets where impossible to find, I put up with it for too long and decided to bite the bullet and get the real thing as I was using it so much, I went for the cheaper set that only has a few accessory’s as I already have loads that fit the Dremel.
It works identical to my old one, similar size and speeds but the Dremel grips the bits better and if they do fail it’s simple to get replacements along with more techy type attachments that will fit this but not my old one.
A very useful tool that once you have one you can not do without it.

    Brilliant Tool

First class service. These tools are well designed and work well. The problem with them is that the motors tend to fail because the copper wires surrounding the motor coil break off. This is easily fixed by buying and refitting another coil. Have a look at fixing a Dremel 300 on YouTube .

Dremel tools have been on the market for many years and have a good reputation. I bought this one to cut ceramic wall tiles so that they fitted around socket outlets located in a kitchen. For this application the Dremel worked well. My only complaint relates to the pathetic number of accessories supplied with the tool. To achieve anything much one has to buy extras whose cost is likely to exceed that of the tool itself. This is presumably a consciously implemented Dremel marketing strategy, but it’s one that’s likely to alienate many a customer (it certainly cheesed me off).
