Bought two of these a few month back and been training with them 3/4 times a week. Great set, very easy to use. Saves a ton of space having these compact weights. Recommend these to anyone

Still getting used to these so this review is not about longevity. I haven’t had them long enough.

On first impression these dumbbells appear huge. They do seem sturdy and well made although the plate are extremely loose and move a lot more than I am comfortable with during use. It takes me a few attempts to line the set back up to re dock and can be frustrating, especially if you want to go straight into another exercise. This is regardless of how much weight is selected.

The increments writing is not as visible as the pictures looked. So I struggle because I struggle with my sight anyway you may not find that a problem. I could have done with the writing being bright white to stand out to the max and on the top of the rotating part rather than on the side. I do have a light on my phone to help me see it better and I guess if I had them on a stand instead of down on the floor, I’d be better able to see but it does slow down transitioning to the next weighted exercise.

A possitive point is that I save loads of space and can do heavier lifts at home for things like Dumbbell deadlift and bent over rows. But this comes with some negatives too. Bicep curls for example are not as easy to do and compromises on good form as the dumbbell plates are big and you need to stop short or wack yourself in the chest/chin. So you can’t load throughout the full range of motion. This is not a big deal as you are almost managing the full range and it does keep the muscle under tension. If all you use are these then that might affect results for you but I doubt it would by much. I use a gym and don’t rely on just these so I don’t see it as too much of a negative.

A positive is that you can quickly change between increments but the negative is that it misses out some important increments like 14kg to name just one. It is also quite clunky sounding and the discs do move sudenly which shifts the weight sudenly all in one go. The disc movement during use makes me a little nervous that they might fail and fall on me. I haven’t tried a chest press yet, but I can see how this too will be more difficult and form will suffer.

The increments missed out have propted me to buy the another set that are 5-41kg so they work together as alternate weights. increments between each of the dumbbell sets on these will give me smaller increase progressions overall. I am not as young as I used to be and want to avoid injuries so if you find these go from too light, straight to too heavy it might be worth looking into a second set that offers you a series of weight settings that are smaller increment if you jump between the two sets.

I currently bench dumbbells at 14kg in the gym. This set has too light and too heavy on offer. The other set I bought also has the same problem. No 14kg. So with the two sets I can get 13kg or 15kg. Odd how none of these type dumbbell seem to have 14kg! Just an observation when doing my homework pre purchase.

I find the handles a bit slippy and feel it would have been better another material closer to the metal ones you get in the gym.

I ordered the Black/grey ones simply because that was what had 2 in stock so I didn’t have a preferrance exactly but would have gone for Black/red if there had been enough in stock. I recieved Black/blue which look nice.

The size of these have made some exercises very difficult to do or even unable, so I wouldn’t say other, standard dumbbells, would not be needed.

The adjustment works perfectly. Easy to transition from one workout to the next.
