Everything works as expected, there’s scratches on two of the extra sticks that I received though, which is not something you’d expect from a ‘new’ product, but besides that everything works as expected

Although the buttons can sometimes fault, however I’ve had zero issues with mine, and in comparison to the dualsence edge controller for the playstation 5 which I also have, the battery life is far superior to that of the edge controller and you get and extra 2 paddles on the back, customisation is better than the edge as you can set dead zones alter the trigger functionality and change the rumble and vibration features on the xbox elite 2, for a high end gaming controller for its price I think is pretty good I got this on offer for 120 Instead of its original 150 price tag, where as the playstation edge controller is at a hefty 210.

The only bad thing that I don’t like about this is the fact that its easy to accidentally press a paddle on the back of the controller especially when you’re playing games like call of duty or fortnight ex

Build quality could be improved as both shoulder buttons are no longer functional!!! luckily with the flappy paddles on the back they can be programmed to replace the broken buttons !!

Very good, that is it. Built well, extra settings and buttons are extremely useful. Other than that it does breakdown annoyingly fast after intensive use so definitely buy insurance for a year or two.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe official XBOX Elite controller Series 2 is a high-quality, top-tier controller. Aimed at the hardcore gamer, it actually is also very handy solution for gamers (such as myself) with limited hand mobility or other hand issues, thanks to its back paddles.

The controller is heavier than the default XBOX controllers and has a more sturdy construction including metal back plate and triggers and special rubber grips. Unlike the standard controller it is supplied with the controller itself, a built-in battery and charging dock, a lovely solid hard transport case, four metal back paddles, six stick options , and thumbstick adjustment tool, two D-pad options and a USB-C charging cable.

The sticks, paddles and D-pad are attached magnetically and are simple to swap out. The sticks offer a choice of lengths and grip textures.

Please note the standard controller and set is black as pictured on the product images; my photos are of my custom XBOX Design Lab Series 2 Elite controller which was the only one I have to hand right now.

The back paddles offer all sorts of options to you as they can be assigned in the XBOX Accessory settings dashboard to duplicate any of the other functions of the controller, and can also be given a second “shift” function. They sit exactly where you need them to be, and are easily accessible. Personally I set them as the A. B, X and Y buttons so that I can do whatever the buttons are set to do in the game without taking my hands off the thumbstick – great for fast twitch-shooters!

The other advantage to having paddles replace the face buttons, I found, is that it means I can continue to play games despite finding using the face buttons difficult. I can suffer severe pain when repeatedly pressing the face buttons in long gameplay sessions, and this was making gaming almost impossible for me. Now, being able to easily access A. B, X and Y on the paddles means I can enjoy my Xbox again with no pain or discomfort. I would suggest this may be helpful for many gamers who find the face buttons tricky to easily use but can comfortably grip the controller as designed. You can of course assign pretty much ANY function to the paddles.

The adjustment tool allows you to tighten or loosen the sticks very simply, just how you like.

The charger dock can be used from within the case through the hole on the back of the case, or can be used outside of the case. It can be hooked up to your console or any device with a powered USB slot. It is optional; the controller can also be directly connected to your XBOX without the dock.

The controller offers massive flexibility so that you can set it up just as you like. Not only can you choose the hardware and adjust stick tension, you can also use the small switches on the back to adjust the trigger pull distance. You will also find great in-depth settings within the Accessories option in the XBOX settings, where you can set button assignments, dead zones, stick adjustments and more.

Lastly, you can also use the controller settings on your XBOX to save up to three different profiles, which can be swapped between with the button below the guide button on the controller. This allows you to save specific button layouts and settings for individual games or types of game and switch on the fly.

I have used a number of Series 2 Elites for several years each now and at no time have encountered stick drift, sticky buttons, peeling grips or any other issue that the older Series 1 controllers were prone to. They all still work perfectly and I find them much more durable, more comfortable overall than the standard controllers, with a nice heft and feel of quality, and I find the paddles indispensable to the point that I cannot now use a controller without them.

The only negative I can think of is that cleaning the inevitable hand-jam off the textured rubber grips is a massive pain in the rear because BOY does that crissy-crossy texture refuse to give it up without a fight. And don’t doubt that no matter how fastidious you are keeping your hands clean, you’ll need to do it eventually!

These are not cheap; but are by far the best controller you will ever use, IMHO.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best controller available, and a great option for gamers with limited finger mobility/arthritis etc.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’ve had this for a little over a year at this point, probably got over 1000 hours of use out of it across various games. Its responsive, well built, feels good in my hands and the back paddles have improved my gaming experience a lot. The adaptive triggers are also fantastic, allowing for snappy digital like presses for shooters and analog pressure sensitive control for fine adjustments in driving/racing games.

However, I am experiencing some inputs not registering (unsure whether thats software or hardware). No stick drift for me, but I rarely every have drift problems with any controllers so dont take my experience as gospel. And god forbid you drop this damn thing and have both sticks and the D-pad ping off under furniture. Also kinda sucks that you cant remap the paddles to alt functions or macros without 3rd party software, but thats a very gamer problem.

Overall, very good controller, just a bit on the expensive side if you’re prone to breaking things.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is my second elite 2 controller. I had my first one for a couple of years and it served me well. Some of the buttons weren’t working properly and the paddles weren’t working great. To be fair I did drop it a couple of times, but it seemed unaffected.

Anyway they are brilliant controllers. Everything just feels much nicer than the basic normal controllers. The paddles on the back make a huge difference. For example being able to push a paddle to run instead of clicking down on the analog stucks really saves my thumbs. I regularly use all paddles and they help me out a lot.

Battery life is really good, can go days without charging, maybe weeks depending on use.

    A few negatives though…

The bumper buttons are prone to failure
The paddles might need to be replaced as the metal wears down after a while
They are very expensive controllers but worth it for me as they make playing much more comfortable

Bought as a gift for my 12 year old sons birthday and he couldn’t have been happier. It is great quality and lovely to hold compared to normal controllers. If buying the white one you need to buy the accessory kit separately that contains the charger, paddles for the rear and carry case. As a non gamer myself I can appreciate the beauty of this and can see the value in the product.

This is a great option for those of us that just hammer controllers and go through them. Using all the other parts from the other controller and just replacing the body is a great idea for less money. Or if you are just not bothered about the paddles on the back or the additional sticks etc. still comes with charge cable and the main parts on the body.

I put this off for so long as seen YT reviews stating the material was different to the black v2 and it felt cheap blah blah blah well, I eventually bought it and wish I had done so sooner. Yes, its a different material but I actually prefer it! Doesn’t feel cheap at all. Feels great in the hand, nice and grippy and the black and white contrast really pops. Treat it with respect and these things will last. People who complain rather than contact Microsoft clearly don’t look after their things / rage.

A must buy for FPS games or even platformers.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe Elite Series 2 Core is the best controller for able-bodied players.
The controller can help some disabled players too.
In other cases the Xbox Accessibility Controller will be better for some disabled players.

I’ve had the Elite Series1, Elite Series 2, & now the Elite Series 2 Core, & the core a much better controller, due to improved durability as they discovered that the hand-oils of some people could cause the soft plastic grips to expand on previous models, which lead to the grips coming off. This issue has been resolved thankfully.

Previous model directional-pads, & paddles are all compatible, though some sticks from previous models are not due to a change in the amount of internal threads for some reason? The core has 3 threads, I believe the previous models had 4 or more. You will need to purchase an accessory pack if you do not have one, though they are not required.

Sadly they have not yet added magnetic Hall Effect sensors & still use potentiometer sensors in their analogue sticks. I expected this to be the standard by now in 2023, but its still not the case, & the change is well over-due. (This applies across the industry).

Make sure to configure your controls in the Xbox Accessories App, & make sure to set the colour of your Xbox Nexus button to add a little personality too.

Lovely controller, had two of this version now and one of the previous version. Customisation is great from the triggers, paddles, d-pad, firmness of the sticks – it does it all. My only issue is that of the two I’ve had of the latest version, the right bumper failed to register clicks after close to a year and the second one failed out of the box – so might be a common fault or I’ve been unlucky! So moving on to my third now and still loving it, I hate using anything else

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe Xbox Series X controller, and I have to say it is hands down the best controller I have ever owned. Microsoft has done an exceptional job in designing this controller, making it comfortable to hold, packed with features, and overall very high quality.

First and foremost, the ergonomics of the controller are fantastic. The grip is comfortable to hold, and the shape of the controller fits snugly in the hands. The buttons are all positioned perfectly, making it easy to reach them, and the triggers are smooth with just the right amount of resistance. I can play for hours without experiencing any hand fatigue, which is a testament to the excellent design of this controller.

The controller is packed full of features and improvements over the previous versions. The D-pad has been improved, and it’s now more responsive and easier to use than previous models. The share button has been added, allowing me to take screen captures and capture short video clips effortlessly without interrupting my gameplay. The wireless connectivity is excellent, and I haven’t experienced any lag or dropouts, even when I’m playing remotely on my PC.

Another great feature of this controller is its compatibility. It works seamlessly with both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox One, as well as Windows 10 and Android devices. This makes it incredibly versatile, and I haven’t had any issues using the controller across multiple different devices.

Finally, I want to talk about the overall build quality of this controller. The Xbox Series X controller is solidly built, and it feels like it’s been built to last. There are no creaks or rattles, and everything fits together beautifully. I couldn’t be more impressed with the quality of this controller.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Xbox Series X controller to anyone looking for an exceptional gaming experience. It’s comfortable, packed with features, and incredibly well built. It’s definitely worth the investment, and I’m incredibly happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI used to game a lot on FPS, got the elite controller before this which I really loved and got used to. It peeled away in the end but was able to keep using it until the port was too broken for me to use on my PC anymore so kept it for the Xbox and needed to upgrade. So I got this, I found the tuning was completely different and couldn’t be asked to get used to it since I’m in my final year now and don’t get a lot of time to game. So returned it and used a standard one which works great. Would recommend it if you are an invested gamer as they last longer and don’t get stick drift as much which can save you money in the long ru

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve had playstations all my life; ps2,3,4 and now 5. I’ve gotten so used to the dualshock 4 design that it was a difficult transition to the elite 2 controller when I got my PC but the functionality that it offers is second to none.

Especially with this being a first party product, you can be confident that you’ll get great support if the product does develop stick drift which is really common for these product. In which case please be aware that you do have a year long manufacturer warranty that you can use directly with Microsoft.

In terms of the build quality, it’s sturdy and the weight of the controller really adds to the premium feel, which is what you’d expect after paying such an amount.

Overall I’d recommend this to any PC user that is already used to the xbox type of controller but the playstation users need to be aware of the learning curve as you may not perform as well initially but its great in the long run with its 4 back buttons which even the dualsense edge doesn’t offer.

Xbox series Elite Controller version 2
    1. Much better build over the first version.
    2. Profiles You can assign a slot for up to three profiles. Press the Profile button on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 to switch between them. When no bars appear lit below the Profile button, the controller is using the default button mapping.
    3. Change the colour of the main big X button in the center of your Pad

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is the best gamepad for the Xbox One/Xbox Series consoles, and one of the best for PCs. It has an excellent feel, plus hardware and software customization tricks that the standard Xbox Wireless Controller does not. It’s also quite expensive, is it worth buying depends if you a pro gamer or feel you need the heads up on other gamers.. I rate it has 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I have 2 Elite V2’s one has loads of profiles on it for xbox series x, and i use the other on my PC with a windows bluetooth dongal.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Usersecieived this yesterday by a amazon delivery driver had to give him a code to accept the delivery as a “high value” item, opened the box which was security sealed so overall good so far, well packaged and no damage to controller or box, first time when i went to connect this to my xbox one x console it wouldnt turn on so had to manually turn my console on without the controller and still wouldnt connect, so i plugged in the supplied cable and turned on the controller with it connected to cable and then it needed a software update with didnt take too long, after the update it then went through the various settings (vibration.and control set up options) its a complicated and time consuming process just to adjust your settings with various screen options (menu) so many to go through just to customise your preffered settings, the good things about it is that you can change the coulor of the xbox logo and customise and give your controller a name, the weight of the controller is noticiable compared to my other controller its the batttery inside with feels slightyly heavyer, the only downside to this is that you cant change the battery inside which would of been a good option, i wonder how long the rechargable battery will last
before the controller is no longer fully charging. with the included accesories you can customise the thumbshifters,or add paddles to the rear, i took the rear paddles off as they affected my game play but you can manually lock these through the controller settings on your xbox console (which is even more time consuming) to update and install softwear you need to connect your controller to your xbox console through the supplied cable) for some reason it didnt connect wirelessly first time, overall good build quality but could do with a few adjustments maybe a manufacturing problem when you change the thumbshifters they can come abit loose if you use them through heavy use whislt playing gta5 or forza.
i personally dont think its worth the overpriced controller retail price it should of been 100.00 which i think i a reasonable retail price with the v.a.t included. its a good controller but hopefully if this one is good enough i may order a second one depending on the rechargable battery and connection issues.
i would reccomend this if your a hardcore gamer.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIn all honesty I’m not sure why the price is quite as high as it is for this, but having used this and the Power A Fusion Pro versions 1 and 2 I can confidently say this is definitely worth the extra over the other two. It feels great to hold and well made and every button, trigger and stick feels smooth and pleasant. The system employed for changing sticks and back paddles is significantly better and more robust as well as easier than the Power A controllers. Customising your button layouts is far more time consuming and has to be done via the accessories app on the console rather than being able to assign new mappings on the fly, but saving the setups to recall them means you only need to set up a couple profiles once and it’s really easy to flick between them via the controller from there. I also hadn’t realised how much nicer it is to have a wireless controller which I’ve had no issues with. Battery life is excellent, and the fact it charges directly when in the case has meant I’ve never had any issues with getting low on charge. So, in summary, this is the best controller I’ve used by far but it is overpriced in my opinion – not because it isn’t good, just because it’s a lot of money to spend on any controller.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWith my old Xbox One controller wearing out, I decided to treat myself and pick up an Elite 2 controller for use on my PC (ironically to play PlayStation titles).

It’s a lovely controller to hold. It feels solid and premium; the entire surface, barring the bumpers, triggers, and the panel between them (which all have a metallic feel) has a rubberised feel to it, with the actual grips being textured.

On the rear there are extra controls – four ‘paddles’, which at first feel unintuitive to use until you figure out which fingers to use, and a pair of toggle switches which control how sensitive their respective triggers are. I’m yet to find a use for the paddles (which can be removed, if you’d rather), but I suspect they’d be great for things like manual gear shifting in driving games.

On the front there’s a button which lets you shift between one of three ‘profiles’. The thumbsticks and D-pad can be removed and swapped for any of the included alternatives, including a more traditional D-pad and less traditional (for Xbox controllers, at least) convex sticks. Personally, I quite like the default metal plate-style D-pad.

Also, good news for PC users – setting the pad up is as easy as pairing any Bluetooth device (assuming you have Bluetooth). You don’t need any extra software to get going, unless you want to modify the control profiles and/or update the firmware.

The pad comes with a solid-feeling case, with room inside to store everything that comes with it. The included charging station (for the built-in rechargeable battery, which I haven’t had to recharge since buying it over a week ago) fits into the case magnetically, and holds the pad itself in place while it’s in the case. All of the replacement button parts are plugged into a holder at the bottom, and there’s a netted pouch on the lid which can hold the button removal tool and the USB cable. It’s snug, but it all fits well.

However – I can’t see myself using the extra features all that much, to be honest. Perhaps I’ll change my mind once I’ve played something that might use the paddles on the back, but for the most part I’ve just been using it as a traditional control pad so far. Which makes this an extremely expensive controller. Is the premium feel worth the extra money? If you can’t see yourself using the extra features, it might be worth looking at one of the more conventional – and cheaper – pads instead.

It’s a nice, but unnecessary, luxury.

    It’s expensive, very.
If you’re looking at this you know what it does. One thing where MS missed a truck is the charging block within the case, it only charges the controller when plugged in, for its size I’d expect it’s to hold charge with an internal battery, allowing the controller to charge without the need to plug it in.
    Think airpods/wireless buds style.
The sticks initially felt very tight and I was ready to return as I didn’t like the feel ( this includes adjusting the tension) but they eventually break in and now they feel great!

It really does feel premium when you hold it and it also looks it.

The best controller ever made.maybe the original SNES controller was also the best controller ever made ?

Right out of the box this controller feels quality and is weighty in the hand. It has so many stick and setting options that simply playing with these is fun in itself. It plays like a treat and with the option to set up paddles as buttons or triggers for your games it means that for those all-important action moments fingers don’t need to leave the Thumbsticks. So far it really has been a great controller and comes in a pretty good case with all of the detachables readily to hand but safe. A wee bit pricey but certainly a quality-built controller.

This by far beats all the other pro controllers I have used in the past. I’ve owned scuf, razer, the elite controller one.

It’s very comfortable to hold and the paddle buttons are very easy to use. There’s no fault with the controlle

It’s got a lovely, heavy weight to it, and the feel of a good quality product. Lots of customisation makes this an extremely satisfying and sexy product with amazing feedback. Customising it let’s you get the perfect comfort that you didn’t think you needed when gaming. Yes, it’s pricey, but when you hold it in your hands, you can really feel its worth.

I love this controller, especially the levers on the back. It makes it a lot easier if you play racing games as you can set them up as the clutch and gears up and down. The rumble is nice and strong, but you can change this. When i first used it i pressed the button to take a short video but this did not work, then i realised that button is to change between the 3 different game profiles you can set up, (DOH!). I like the way you can change the analogue sticks for longer or shorter ones and the d-pad between the standard + one and the circular one. You can also alter the travel distance of both left and right triggers. It comes with a sturdy case and also a desk top charger which charges the inbuilt battery, though it can be a bit fiddley to line it up.

I’ve always liked Xbox joypads, and just use them on my PC.
So when old XBOne pad died, thought I’d splurge and get myself an Elite model.

First off – it feels really nice in the hands. Slightly rubberized and textured ‘horns’ for your hands to feel, slightly heavier feeling and lovely blacked-out face-buttons. It looks and feels like quality.

    Personalization options are pretty comprehensive:
    1) D pad defaults to the octagonal look you’ll see in the product-shot, but you can change it to a normal cross. Indicentally, both are metal, and feel lovely.
    2) Joysticks can have their tension adjusted. By default regular, but can be tightened up to ‘springier’
    3) Alternate joysticks provided, which like the D-pad just snap on with magnets. Also get a pair of sticks similar to the 360 one (smoother, without edge texture). Another with a long stem, so more movement. FInally one with a rounded mushroom tip.
    4) On the back you have the 4 removable paddles, that you can map to other joypad inputs (although annoyingly not keyboard strokes, macros etc)
    5) Sliders on the back to adjust the depth of the trigger pulls.
    6) PC software also allows some adjustment of the acceleration from linear presses on joypad and triggers (i.e. You can make it twitchy). Also allows you to dampen/turn off vibration and dim xbox button light. The aforementioned button mapping can switch anything around – and you can even set buttons to a ‘shift’ function, and assign other buttons to different presses depending if ‘shift’ is held or not. Finally lets you save these settings to ‘profiles’ you can cycle through on the pad.
    7) Nice charging dock (that can sit in the nice case, or on your desk) – and a lovely long braided USB-A->C cable (the joypad has a USB-C socket on it).

I might have missed something out – but it’s a premium product with lots of nice ways of tweaking it.

Minor complaint – button mapping just lets you move button presses around. Using a PC, I’m used to being able to put macros/anything on any button. Now I could see why they might not want to allow this on a console (unfair advantage) – but makes little sense on PC.
Major complaint, for me – I’ve left every single configurable option (after a bit of playing) as “How it is on a regular joypad.” I’ve even removed the paddles on the back, and switched to the cross D-pad. Now this might just be to keep my muscle memory happy, and it’s nice to have options in the future – but was a very expensive way to find out the OG pads are pretty optimal already.

If you can live without the rechargeable system, paddles, adjustments, button-mapping & metal d-pad – you can specify a regular joypad from XBox’s Design Labs that looks nearly the same (grippy sides and metallic triggers included). For half the cost.

Returning this didn’t cross my mind (OK it did, but just for a second) – but I’d have a careful think as to exactly which of the features you’re buying this for.

The build quality of this product feels very sturdy and it is comfortable to hold, it has a significant amount of weight to it but I feel this is a good thing because you can tell it’s a solid product and dropping it isn’t going to damage it, I never had any downsides to the controller itself until the back paddles randomly stopped working 4 months after buying it and I can’t seem to do anything to get them to work again.

I love this controller, the build quality, customization options are great. The included charging dock which fits nicely into the controllers case is a neat idea. The grips on the side really do make a difference in terms of comfort.

Charging the controller can take quite awhile (3 to 4 hours from a dead battery) but the battery really does last a long time.

I hsve mine connected to my PC with the official wireless adapter and it works flawlessly, no input lag, connection drops etc.

The back paddles are a great idea, I just find it difficult to get used to them. They can make your life easier in certain games (FPS) but you need muscle memory to actually use them, most of the time I just forget.

The back paddles will take quite a bit of time to fully adapt to them.

I have heard alot of bad things regarding this controllers quality over time. I will update if I discover such issues.

I have bought several of these for myself and gifts. I also have experience of the Scuf range. The Elite 2 wins hands down every time from ease of use when programming to comfort and 100% the warranty. Microsoft returns is fab and you get a year Scuf is 6 months and stick drift is a known issue!!

We are all heavy users and game 5/6 hours week days and more at weekends 365 days a year. Our controllers take a battering and the Elite 2 copes brilliantly.

    1) you cannot custom map the paddles, you can only add them as extra buttons/triggers or as shift keys.
    2) two of the buttons have started playing up and seem to have intermittent faults.
    Not really worth the money.

This controller is really well made and fully customisable with its easily detachable thumb sticks and also the button layouts for the paddles. The paddles allow you to use action buttons without having to move your thumb off the aim stick which is a massive improvement for multiplayer games once you get used to it. You can have up to 3 profiles for button configurations which can be switched at the press of a button, meaning you can change games and layouts very quickly. You will need to look at YouTube videos for help with calibration but it’s a very simple process once you know how. Not had it long so in terms of lifespan the jury is still out, but so far I can’t falt i

I’ve tried several Xbox controllers, previously opting to use the Razer wolverine ultimate (in itself a great controller only downside being it’s wired). After two years of heavy use the A button starting sticking so went for the Elite series 2. The build quality is excellent, it feels great in hand and especially like the adjustable thumbs stick tension as someone who is quite heavy handed anyway, the highest tension setting has made a big difference to my accuracy on FPS games. But for me the best bit of this controller is the position of the additional paddles on the rear of the controller. They are in a much more natural position than on the Wolverine. It feels second nature using them and they have become my primary buttons on some games instead of Y and X. There is no capture button however you can easily reprogramme this (I have bottom left rear paddle set to shift, hold this down and press A for video capture and B for screenshot). Simple.

The Xbox elite v2 controller is absolutely fantastic! I had no idea how much this would change my style of game play, and my enjoyment of certain games until I started using it. It’s literally a game changer and the design is highly recommended and should be the defacto standard for all controllers.

However, Microsoft is having issues with the manufacturing of these controllers, buttons sticking, double clicking, worst of all the Dpad is loose (has a lot of wiggle) and the analog sticks do have some stick drift issues after a few days.

Overall this is for sure one of the best designed controllers I’ve ever encountered, however it’s being built and manufactured on the cheap. If this controller cost a little less it would be a 5star product, but it’s cost would reflect a high quality product and quite frankly that’s not what you get here.

Overall a fantastic gaming product, absolutely sublime to use, but the cost does not reflect the build quality.

A great buy though and highly recommended if you can lost passed the price and minor build quality flaws.

    The good
This is a really nicely built controller, made of high quality materials. Nice travel case with an excellent charging stand (alone or in the case) – heavy and magnetised. Feels very much like a typical Xbox One controller in hand, but with a higher quality feel. Finally a lithium ion battery was included. Better bluetooth than previous controller versions.

    The not so good
This controller is plagued by a few issues:
    1. It requires a cabled update out of the box. On first use the A button would activate the Xbox menu while gaming. Updating with Xbox accessories app resolves this. Not a great FTUE though.

    2. When clicked, the right stick would turn the controller off. Only connecting to USB cable would wake it up afterwards. This makes the controller binable in my opinion. I read online that this defect was happening to a few people, though in true corp fashion, no resolution was offered other than textbook replies. So I ordered a replacement and no longer have this issue, so it must have been hardware related.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE A DEFECTIVE BATCH
    I noticed that the original and replacement controllers had two different box designs. Ref my attached pics. Things to look out for are;
    – The functioning controller is packaged with an additional design detail: a small, yellow, skewed rectangle below the logo, amongst other typographic and layout/design differences.
    – Lot numbers differed. The defective version was lot 2127, the functioning one was Lot 2136, so I’m assuming it’s a newer build.

    3. Connectivity is slightly problematic with PC/Windows 10. Once connected to bluetooth things seem fine, but if then connected to the USB cable, this will break the bluetooth connection and it will not restore automatically after disconnecting the cable – you’ll have to reconnect manually. Using the wireless charger luckily does not break the bluetooth connection. So this issue can be circumvented.

    Conclusion
I wouldn’t expect these kind of deal-breaker hardware issues from a Microsoft/Xbox product. But I did buy this controller with the understanding that my previous versions had some of the worst bluetooth implementations of any controller and would get constant dropouts. The Elite 2 seems to have sorted this issue with much better bluetooth connectivity.

Swapping out paddles and sticks seems somewhat unnecessary and more like a marketing gimmick, but there are more comfortable stick combos to be had from the options. I removed the extra set of back paddles underneath as they are just far too easy to press while resting your hands, but I do appreciate these extra button options. The ability to shorten the trigger distance physically is a also a nice touch to speed up reaction times.

Overall it’s a nice update to controller family. Just keep an eye on your batch number if you run into the same right stick issue that I had.

Great, but sadly let down by manufacture defects and annoying quirks.

Great controller – shipped with 1 bad paddle which I bought a replacement from ebay for. Only another original sorted that issue out.
Secondly Y button is a slightly harder press than the rest.
Apart from those 2 issues, really good strong build. Great case and strong battery life.
Game Changer but not sure on longevity and will most likely end up claiming the Microsoft extended warranty.
    Hope this helps fellow gamers.
    Thanks!

For the last 8 years i always have bought knock of controllers for about 25-40 what dose exactly the same as what this dose.

But i thought id treat my self to the official one for a change because i was getting fed up of having wires everywhere so i got this controller.

Don’t get me wrong the controller is good nothing wrong with it and works fine and on PC the software is good i just expected a lot more bang for the buck….

Last controller i had was 35 dose exactly the same as what this dose even down to adjusting the stick tension and the paddles on the back but it was just wired and with my new setup i wanted to go wireless but still have all the same features.

So basically i just paid 125+ ontop of what i would normally get just to be wireless

When I needed a new controller, I looked at all the ones out there and what my finances were. I’d been looking into getting either an elite or a scuff, at the time I couldn’t afford either and looked at cheaper alternatives. Which you really do get what you pay for, so when I had the opportunity to buy one, I took it. The controller is the same size as a standard controller, but weighs slightly more due to the magnets inside to hold the thumbsticks and d-pad in place, also the second set of rumble motors near the triggers. Placement of the paddles underneath are great and more ergonomic unlike the scuffs which you have to reach over one to hit the other, the controller itself is fully customisable through the xbox devices app, where you can remap the buttons and adjust the sensitivity of the triggers, etc. The two issues that I have with the controller are that you do not get pairs of interchangeable thumbsticks, and the trigger stop for the left hand rubs my finger as I play due to the positioning of the thumbstick, but these are just minor problems and do not really effect the overall build of the controller. Well worth the extra money, for any gamer who spends a lot of time gaming.

I’ve had this for a year now and I wanted to hold off writing a review until I had used it for quite some time. I paid 159.99 at the time. I wanted something that would last a while as COVID put me on furlough for almost this whole time. First initial thoughts is that it’s got some weight. It feels nice in my hands and I like that something that is expensive and feels it. The customisations you can do to this controller is impressive. I use just 2 paddles on the back. The different sizes for the log sticks are great too, I use the ones that have extra grip. The controller massively improved my gaming level. I play a lot of FPS games and this controller was perfect for it. However, stick drift came in about a month ago, I don’t know what the average life span of these controllers are but it should be more than 12 months. The stick drift is the only downside for me. I’ll try and get it fixed but if no luck I’ll probably buy it again.

Three of us each bought one. One had required a return to be issued on the same day it arrived because the A button would very easily become trapped under the housing and remain stuck there.

The others (including the replacement) ended up being almost perfectly fine. With two of them the A button *can* still slip under the housing and become stuck there, but it doesn’t happen easily. It seems like a ubiquitous design flaw in the manufacturing of these controllers.

We upgraded to this from the original Elite controller, primarily because we still love the design and robustness, but really wanted a built-in lithium battery, the snazzy little magnetic dock, and the bluetooth connectivity it comes with.

I also really like that they designed it so that you’re able to dock and charge it in the provided case–it’s a very neat and efficient solution.

All-in-all, we remain happy with these controllers and, of course, hope that they’ll prove to be as long-lasting and robust as their predecessor.

Havent had any problems with mine first of all, felt like i needed to say that

Extra paddles are very nice, easy to switch between different presets you can make with 1 button press,

Feels very premium and is easy to swap things around

Takes some time getting used to but worth the learning curve and loads of customisability not just with buttons but with depth of trigger useage and deadzones for the sticks, you’ll learn what deadzones are using this if you dont already.

Analogue stick moves to one side slightly but if i tighten up the sticks shouldnt be a problem

Much better than a normal controller, hard to go back to that

Best part is the case also works as a charging stand!
Also the charge lasts a long time, havent timed it as i pretty much put in case to charge after useage but can easily use for a full play day and then some before charging.

Also comes with a thin cloth by the charging slot to cover it when theres no need to charge the controller so you dont charge in excess but you want to place the controller there. Very handy

Check the video and pics for some perspective

Quick summary of what i think

  56. MarilynnRoyal says:

     United Kingdom

    Pros

    – The buttons are clicky and responsive (fantastic for things that require accurate fast input like Mortal Kombat)
    – The sticks themselves are smooth and individually pressure-tuneable
    – The weight of the controller itself feels very premium
    – More customisability that you can waggle a chicken at
    – Included carrying case is an F1 pitstop for accessories and also charges the controller
    – USB C
    – Bluetooth – I’m using on my xbox, switch and pc interchangably
    – Not even remotely had to think of battery life so far

    Cons

    – Pricey
    – Xbox Accessories app forbids using the extra triggers for anything but existing non elite inputs
    – Bluetooth support on Windows 10 is awful – switching between usb and bluetooth is a lesson in frustration (however I suspect this to be an Win10 issue)

On pc you can use software like reWASD to help rebind things to various levels of success, but for me the biggest boon was the increase in quality of the buttons and inputs.

If MS let you use the additional triggers as their own input buttons by default this would solve the lion’s share of issues it has.

Outside of this, it genuinely made me a better player at every game I played (finally beat my MK11 arch nemesis >:D)

I really want to give this a 5, but the cost and the input mapping only just stop that.

I still would absolutely recommend this to anyone even thinking about it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst thing I noticed about this controller is that on first impressions the rubber grips are very very slippy, the complete opposite of what I expected and I hated them…. But, after using the controller for a day and getting a feel for it I realised that they actually become very very grippy. But then the next day they felt slippy again almost like trying to hold a bar of soap. But what I figured out is that whilst the rubber is cold it’s very slippy, but once you’ve held the controller for 5 minutes it becomes grippy. The only problem is if you stop holding the controller for 5 minutes it becomes slippy again. It’s really quite strange. The grip isn’t even the reason I bought the controller I’ve never really struggled with grip on a controller before, but it’s the first thing I noticed about it and initially I thought it was a bad thing. Now I’m just used to it and don’t mind it at all.

You can easily map the controls to do what you like and set 3 profiles to have different paddles do a different action and different games without having to make a new profile every time you switch games.
The best thing about the controller is the thumb sticks. They are next level you can’t feel any friction whatsoever against the out outside ring it’s amazing. The changeable llsrucksbthatbcomebwith it I have trued but I’ve just stuck with the standard sticks.

The buttons on the back are really nice a super premium feel to them too. I started with all 4 on there hover a finger over each paddle but it was really awkward to hold the controller that way. Basically only leaving your pinky finger to grip on. Now I just use 2 paddles on the back. I’ve move the 2 smaller ones to the lower pisituon and use my middle fingers to press them and that’s a much more natural feeling.

The adjustable triggers a good feature also.

The overall feel of the controller is very premium. And I’m glas I have it. Its very expensive for what it is though so I’m not 100% sure it’s worth the money. I just had some burning a hole on my pocket.

The only cons I can think of is that there is no share button like on the series x/s controller, though you can actually completely remap all the buttons and turn one of the paddles into this button if you wanted.

I also prefer the D pad on the series x/s controller. The big dish thing tgat comes with this is too flat for me and I have opted for the old school + shaped D pad instead. I hope the bring out a series x/s one out for this it wouldn’t be hard to do as its all swappable parts.

And finally the center part of the controller has a kind of silicone covering or something. It’s feels really nice and premium but it leaves grease marks.

    Takes some getting used to

The Elite 2 is very comfortable with a lovely weight to it. What strikes me most about this controller is the premium quality. From the packaging, the optional metal D pad, back buttons, various thumb sticks and protective case. You get what you pay for and I should hope so too. I do think for what it is it IS too expensive.
The addition of the back buttons is a game changer (no pun intended). This is an important aspect for me as I am a lefty, and play with swapped sticks in First Person games. Unless I hold a controller in “claw” then I’m fairly handicapped.
Is it my favourite controller? No. I much prefer Playstation 5’s innovative Dual Sense or even Playstation 4’s Dual Shock 4 with the back button attachment.
I use this on my PC for compatibility reasons and is by far Microsoft’s best controller to date. Just a pity about that price tag.

Ok now lets get a couple of negatives out of the way.. Grips too slippery (scuf super sticky) very heavy need to have rumbles removed, thats why only 4 stars.. However the build quality, customisation options are 5 star.. You can map buttons and save 3 pre sets.. There are 4 paddle positions and two paddle styles which are metallic not plastic, you can set trigger stops to variable positions.. you can easily change thumb sticks and D pads.. all in all an excellent product, the cherry on the cake is the charging holder, you simply lay it on it, no fiddly cables, and you can use all four paddles with Astro mix amp m80 unlike a scuf.. For some reason PlayStation seem to be getting a better product from the likes of companies like Scuf.. This Elite controller is IMO the best suitable, better than the current scuf prestige and I would highly recommend and thats coming from someone who has purchased 8 scufs over the years..

Edit: I once again own an Elite Series 2, after realising that much of the button defects I had noticed are _also_ present on standard Xbox controllers. With some adjustments to finger placement this is no longer an issue for me on the Elite v2. I’m not sure that I’d recommend it as I expect the triggers might give up the ghost in the future, but for now, at least, I’m very much enjoying the controller, and it is, very much, the best feeling controller I’ve had the pleasure of owning (as I’ll repeat below in my original review).

This is the best feeling controller I’ve ever held. Paddles on the back of the controller are indespensible, the grip is solid, the extra thumbstick options are welcome. It’s a nice black, holds a great charge, etc., etc.

I could sing this controller’s praises, and yet, my first goes back for a replacement. Why? As other reviews have mentioned, the ‘A’ button wasn’t registering unless pressed on its exact center. That’s absolutely unacceptable for an item with this price tag.

3 stars for now because everything else about the controller is great, and faulty products happen. (I’ve never had an issue with the non-elite Xbox controllers, so one wonders why Microsoft has these kinds of issues with their premium offering).

Edit: My second controller had the same ‘A’ button issue, but with an additional ‘B’ button issue. The ‘B’ button also wouldn’t register clicks. Wonderful. Changing my review to 1 star. I can’t recommend this product in its current state. Microsoft’s Q&A has severely let this down

Edit, edit: after further testing with multiple generations of Xbox controllers, I’ve been able to replicate the same behavior across all of them. Why I haven’t noticed until now is a mystery, but putting this to 4 stars.

While the controller is expensive, the build quality and customization makes it well worth it. Once you use this controller, all other controllers will feel like cheap pieces of plastic. The amount of customization you have is incredible. You can assign a button to be a shift toggle that turns other buttons to become other buttons. You adjust your triggers to 3 different settings allowing you to pull the trigger faster since they’ll be less travel. You can even adjust the thumbstick tension. On top of all that it comes with changeable D-Pad, analog sticks, and paddles. All this is packed into a nice case that allows you to charge the controller. Some people won’t like the fact that you can’t change the batteries and that the controller has a built in battery but I’ve been getting easily 40-60 hours of battery life per charge. And on a final note, you can assign button profiles to the controller and can easily swap between 3 of them this time around instead of 2. There’s even a default setting so there’s technically 4 hot-swappable profiles. Overall I highly recommend this controller to anyone who enjoys gaming. I honestly think It’ll enhance everyone’s experience and gameplay, even if there’s a slight learning curve for the paddles.

I’ve had this for about 6 months now and overall I’ve loved it.
Very smart packaging with lots of customisable parts, long battery life with quick recharging, comfortable to hold, paddles are really useful once you’re used to them and it just looks great.

However, within a month or so I was having issues such as the RB button not working unless I pressed very hard and the left stick click would fail to register while pushing the stick forward at the same time (i.e. what you usually do to sprint in FPS games). This was frustrating and lasted for about a week, I was going to send it off for a replacement but then it somehow fixed itself and has been fine since.

I’ve read other reviews with from people with similar problems that have not had the luck I had in them correcting themselves so this is something to be wary of, but this may be fixed in newer models.

If you do run into button issues, I’d recommend not using it for a couple of days because this seemed to be the catalyst for mine to fix itself. Might be nonsense, but it worked for me.

Nonetheless, this controller has transformed my gameplay and provided you don’t run into button issues, I think this is the best controller out there.

Had heard horror stories about the first batch of elite controllers Microsoft released and it is a lot of money to part with compared to the standard Xbox controllers, but I thought I would take the plunge, try the series 2 and hope they had ironed out the defects that many people suffered with from the first edition. When it arrived I was very happy, it comes with a carry case with charging dock inside, various interchangeable thumb sticks, it all looks very smart and secure.

Initially when I began using the controller, a couple of the buttons (A button mainly) were sticking. I was on the verge of sending the controller back. After a little research I am led to believe this is down to the adhesives they use to assemble to controller getting in the wrong place. However I continued to use the controller and after a day or two the buttons stopped sticking and all is working like normal, and is still all good and working correctly after heavy use.

The battery life is one of the things I am most impressed with, and the extra long charging cable is also very useful.

Overall the controller is comfy to hold, albeit slightly heavier than a standard controller, but this is easy to get used to. It is also easy to set up, and the button mapping selector is useful for changing from one style of game to another.

To conclude if anyone does happen to still be reading this, excellent controller that feels well made, and if you do have any initial problems with sticky buttons, persevere for a day or two before you go through the hassle of sending back as it may sort itself out like mine did.

Overall the controller is quite well made and has so far lasted me about 6 months. However not too long after I received the product, maybe a month or so, the adjustable hair pin trigger cover on the left side started slipping off. Didn’t bother me too much at first but as it kept happening several times a day I began to get frustrated. Now the right one has started falling off as well and I’ve just lost the left one. It wouldn’t be the end of the world but now to adjust the triggers I have to basically stab my finger with the pin to move it which is typically twice a day. However other aspects of the controller are in complete working order and I couldn’t be happier with the rest of it. There was a bit of trouble hooking a headset up to it at first but a quick YouTube tutorial taught me how to fix it.

    Good controller with minimal faults.

Bought for my gaming computer, The features of this controller are great. Rapid fire triggers with automated calibration built in, tension adjustable analogues, graphic equaliser adjustable feedback for analogues, vibration sensitivity and LED brightness to help save battery, and complete mapping of every button, including a shift modifier if need be. The Xbox elite controller uses USB type-C so won’t never have an issue with it falling out or falling apart and the wire is more than long enough. Wired should always be your first option for competitive gameplay.
So its my favourite controller of all time. probably for the next 3 years

i had gotten a short stroke of buyers remorse after when i tried using the Bluetooth because I expected more from it, i couldn’t figure out why it kept disconnecting and causing frame rate drops. So i did some research and found out that Bluetooth is not meant for real time human interface devices that want to transmit lots of inputs at once.
You should only use Bluetooth when your using the controller like a tv remote to change channels or like how you would use a headset, you barely send more than one command at a time.
If i ever decide I want to buy a 50″ 4k gaming monitor and sit 10 feet away i will buy a Microsoft official wireless adapter to play wirelessly in demanding games to use the wireless band that the Xbox one or ps4 uses.

Bluetooth is crap in general its not this controllers built in Bluetooth its just Bluetooth, be it laptops, car radios, headsets, phones, speakers, they have all give me problems. on a positive note it does actually hold a connection when I want to just lay in bed without getting up and play walking dead, or crash bandicoot insane trilogy, or watch a movie on kodi. But when trying to play MotoGP 2020, or CoD MW, or Shadow of the Tomb Raider, or Resident Evil it just kept disconnecting, so i would need the wireless adapter for that.

I cant go back to another controller, EVER!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI had done a 2 star review before for a previous elite 2. The thumb-sticks would wiggle in the middle. Biggest dead zone I’ve ever seen. Could not properly aim, But no stick drift. Played it maybe 10 hours.
I sent it back for a full refund.
Got another one. Just to see.

This second one is perfect. Most perfect controller I’ve ever had by far. No dead zone. No drift. Everything is smooth, battery lasts forever, so comfortable and strong build materials. I made sure I played as much as I could just to test the controller. I’ve played maybe 40 hours in a week, might have been a record. Now I can rest knowing the controller seems to be perfect. In all this time never had any drop in connectivity with my Wi-Fi receiver on pc.

Time will tell about the longevity and quality. Will change the review accordingly.
Doesn’t get 4 stars just because of Microsoft lack of quality control on such an expensive item.

If you got a defective one maybe give it another try. If you get a good one it’s well worth the price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve used pretty much all the controller’s out there and this is my favourite.

The short activating triggers are pretty good, especially with the amazing amount of software customisation available, but the reason I like these is the back paddles. It took a while to get used to them but now I can effortlessly use both sticks and access 8 buttons at once. It’s hard to imagine playing some games (especially souls games) without this now I’m used to it.

My only issue is that the binding options are A bit limited on PC. I’d like to bind all buttons to unique inputs but I’m stuck mapping to joypad inputs. This generally means that the 4 back paddles are just convenient ways of reaching other buttons and not new buttons themselves.

My go to controller i use it for my all consoles with dongles the back triggers come in useful for weapon swaps and reloading.
The L1 & R1 should have grips and .. All the triggers R1 R2 L1 L2 should be made of of some light metal instead of plastic. A join thing for paddles would be good a big paddle for L & R paddles so would be 2 paddles working. Also where the usb port on the controller is should be sunk in as it wobbles a bit a square box it slots into but is big enough for other leads but stops wobbling.

Apart from that it’s the best controller ever made and ive been gaming since joystick and 8bit nes days it feels so good and movement is so quick and helps you play better as you can run while looking around and reload all at the same time without taking your thumb off the left stick.

Worth every penny and i use it for many divides it my goto controller.

I have owned a generation 1 elite for the best part of 2-3 years now. It was the only controller I’d play with. My use case does not involve the use of trigger stops/paddles/long sticks. Simply just the barebones controller.

The gen 1 elite did not present any issues to me so I had no need to upgrade to the elite 2. However upon doing so I can suggest some of the benefits:

    1) The front grip is very useful. It does not exactly hold your palms firmly on the controller, but it provides a small but noticeable grip.

    2) The trigger stops now have 3 levels. I find the last level to be excellent while quickscoping on call of duty.

    3) The battery is now internal. This is scary as if it fails the controller is made redundant. But for now I am enjoying the long battery life.

    4) The overall aesthetic is great. It looks stealthy in all black.

All in all I would suggest buying this controller.

NB: My only issue is with amazon delivery and this does not reflect the item in anyway. My parcel was chucked through my window at a 1m height into my toilet floor. This is a 150+ item and i am now wary if it is fully functional after surviving this fall. Amazon made a small compensation but I am still not pleased with the actions of the driver.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBuild quality is amazing, it has some proper weight to it. The case it comes in feels really well made and even has a port so you can charge the controller while it’s in there, AirPod style.
Comes with a very long USB C cable (Controller now takes USB C) and a selection of alternate thumb sticks, although in some cases it comes with one if a certain type..why?

I found I prefer to use the controller without the paddles, which made me wonder if this is a waste of money for me? I love the quality and all the other bits including customising the stiffness of the thumb sticks, but I can’t help but feel like they should bring out a Lite version with the same build quality but no extra bits like Thumb sticks, paddles etc. at a reduced price.

The grip feels really nice being textured all round but doesn’t solve sweaty palm slippage issues.

Overall I’d say it’s a lot of money, but you can easily justify it by using it on a regular basis.
One of the vibration motors also makes a really annoying noise, not sure if it’s a fault with mine or because the internals are now metal.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersIf you haven’t come from the OG elite maybe it’ll take some time to adjust but I can only really feedback positive changes from the previous model. The clickable paddles are a great improvement and the charging dock is lovely and far more practical. The only negative I would say is actually the area in which most users share that they like, and that’s the new grippy surface. For me (and I realise I do have a strange sensation with touching certain textures at times) it feels horrible to touch each time I start gaming. Almost feels like my palms are sweaty, which they aren’t. Interestingly this doesn’t bother me once I’ve held the controller for a while.

Ultimately, it comes down to cost and is the new V2 elite controller worth the money? Well I would say it is, but the subtle improvements might not justify upgrading from the original especially if your current controller is still going strong. If however you don’t have the OG elite and want to expand your gaming capabilities then maybe you should self induldge and treat yourself to a very nice product.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersI would like to start this review saying that if you want to treat yourself assuming you’ve got the money, go for it.

First off this controller is the one you must get. The advantage you can get against others in online gaming is pretty noticeable (considering that you know what you’re doing).

In terms of build quality it looks like it has been improved a lot compared to the first gen. This Elite series 2 it is way different and sturdy compared to the first one.

Those rubberized grips all over the body makes a lot more comfortable. The paddles have been shortened and the access to them when you hold the pad is good. The internal battery and the USB type C port makes it the definitive version of an Xbox One controller. You can use it both on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.

To sum up: it is an absolute gem of a pad and it could be expensive, but if you’re into online only games it is the one you don’t want to miss. Only downside is the price, other than that is magnificent.

    The best controller ever made.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOk so, i have owned a series 1 elite controller for over a year and despite all the bad reviews of it braking down easily mine has been running fine with nothing changed on it and looking after it as far as not playing with greasy fingers and giving it a wipe every now and then

With series 2 that came with a slight bigger price the first impressions are very good, as you would of thought it is a bit better and steadier build thatnks to build in long life battery its kind of a one piece of controller with custom mods on it

It came with same case maybe made a bit better and with this lovely magnetic stand which makes your pad slot in instantly being chatged in case either zipped up close or oppened and still able to be used while charged of course

Along with extra fancy sticks and everything kind of nicely “blacked” out

Overall i am giving this 4/5 and not 5/5 is because i only got it today and as with everything, you never know so remind me in 2-3 months to update

Personally think its great and better then serries 1

Golden Review Award: 59 From Our UsersHad it since Saturday and only a bit disappointed regarding the none replaceable battery. The device feels premium the battery life is excellent and the tension on the joy sticks is very good as well.Trigger stops work very well at the highest setting with shot guns etc which it did not with the old elite controller. My battery is still more than half way after a few days of use and that was using my razer headset with it most of the time. The only thing i am worried about is when the battery dies i will have to have it plugged in all the time. I believe that is a mistake and would be worried about battery swelling when it eventually runs out of juice. After carefully looking at the controller i see no option to service it.I guess i will have to wait for an ifixit video. To sum it up i would say get it if you have the money. Update battery still going strong and it’s now Wednesday!
