Takes a bit of practice to start with, moderate pressure on the side handle is the trick, otherwise the size of the disk can make it unstable and wobble. Practice for 5 mins proved enough to suss it out and away it went. Dust extraction is exceptional considering the dust generated. It comes with a bag but I connected it to site henry and it was virtually dust free. Highly recommend this for sanding predecorating and all flat surfaces. Comes with sanding discs too. Great value for money.

I had read the reviews on this product and was a bit undecided as to whether I should go for it. I’m glad I did as a small accident while plastering my bathroom had rendered me unable to continue. This was unfortunate as catastrophe struck just after I had applied a first coat and before I could smooth it over. This meant that when I returned to the job, the plaster had completely dried out. As I had purchased the sander prior to starting the job, I was able to make good the surface and achieve a very acceptable finish. Who says you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear?

I will just add some important observations. Firstly, the vacuum control knob needs to be set to about 40 to 50 percent in order to achieve enough suction to extract the dust into the bag without the shroud chattering against the wall surface. Secondly, make sure that the hose is not twisted or kinked. Thirdly, place the shroud against the wall before starting the sander and hold it with two hands and as level as you can. Lastly and importantly, while the machine is quite efficient at transferring the dust into the bag, always wear gloves , overalls (preferably with hood) and a decent well fitting dust mask. Oh! and make sure that the legs on your work platform are locked into place!!!

Read other reviews that this is good to sand paint off walls Unfortunately for us it spins too fast even at its slowest mode, thus clogging the sand paper in a matter of seconds as the heat caused the paint to effectively melt.

Bought this to remove woodchip off my ceiling (why woodchip wallpaper was invented il never know) which it did, and turned it into “Flour”. MAKE SURE you push onto the surface you are sanding, as the slightest lift off will throw dust out and not sucked into the bag, it has a suction bag (looks like a bagpipe) which I didnt notice in the description, really impressed with it, and recommend this if you have a lot of sanding to do

Well, this really is a little beast. Rough walls, this will smooth them down.
I have a house which is getting renovated and there is lots of artex (asbestos free), wall, ceilings, the usual. Smooth walls now though. The dust collection system works well, obviously there is still dust especially when you get kick back.
More difficult on ceilings though, so going to purchase the expandable version. Excellent product, super impressed.

This seems to be a pretty good sander. Its a bit of a beast when up to speed and you have to select your grit and set the speed correctly (maximum actually tended to be less grabby) otherwise the sander can become grabby especially when sanding paint and then start to buck all over the place. I had my suction on full so maybe this was pushing it into the wall a bit much and was sanding paint too at times On plain plaster it was fine.

The vacuum is powerful so leaves the room dust free

I am not a good plasterer so this has really helped my ability to achieve a smooth almost polished finish (one which even my wonderful OCD wife has trouble picking fault with) I would definitely recommend if like me your plastering ability leaves a lot to be desired.
Worked well – would recommend getting an m class dust extractor if your doing more than a small amount of sanding (dust like this can be a real problem for your lungs )

Was great, fillled and sanded whole hallway as walls were crap and it did a great job, barely any dust escaped when connected to henry hoover via adaptor i have. Only goes to within an inch of corners so had to use different sander for that.

Robust, well constructed and does what it says on the box. Took a wee while to become familiar with it. Dust extraction works well and such a contrast to using a pole and pad. I had a large ceiling to sand nd found the tool light enough to manage without exertion.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe project was to sand the very uneven, painted, lime-plastered walls of an 180 year old house. On the whole, very effective and easy to use. Occasionally, the sander runs out of balance, rectified by lifting off and restarting. The dust collection system works very well. However, an effective mask and eye protection is a must.

For the money this is an absolute brilliant bit of kit! Rubbed down some old walls perfectly, leaving a very smooth finish even done the ceiling which I though it would clog being upside down but having the vacuum within the machine makes it suck to the wall or ceiling and clearing the dust away into the bag provided, so would highly recommend it. Quite a big sander but not too noisy and the weight of it is well balanced. A***

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy only regret is Why did I not buy this thing earlier. Wow what a difference to the walls and minimal dust.
We had a painter paint our living room walls but it still had that texture from the roller brush. I will attach a picture and you can see the left side is the wall that he sanded over and right side is how it was after the paint. We are starting all over again as the finish is much better with this.
Very hard to impress me lol and this surely has. Only little issue is it’s hard to get to edges. Is there anything else that we can use that you can recommend?

    This product is awesome!!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhat a machine! As an amateur plasterer my finishing leaves a little to be desired. I was facing hours of back breaking sanding, so i decided to buy this dry wall sander. Thank goodness I did. I whizzed through the task (4 walls and a ceiling) in no time with a lovely finish achieved.
The unit itself comes with a good number of sanding disks in various grits, a strap, the suction attachment and replacement motor bushes (hope I don’t need those anytime soon!).
The suction bag is a wonder to behold! It is a little awkward and the strap could do with being longer, but that said the functionality of it more than outweighs the negatives – by miles!!
The unit isn’t really heavy, but I would recommend short shifts (especially doing the ceiling).

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis really is a very well built machine

A very effective circular sander with no dust whatsoever

This sander is far far superior to the back and forth sanders that you can buy for 25.

The results are just brilliant and you will save a lot of time and effort by spending a little bit more money on one of these.

The disc size is large and so you can over a whole wall in a very short space of time.

** Don’t waste your time buying sandpaper for this machine, buy the mesh alternative **

Perhaps only use a fine grained sandpaper just to give a smoother finish.

(Sandpaper gets clogged up very quickly with this machine and you have to replace far more regularly than the mesh alternative).

I have been using mine for several months now with no issues

    Build quality is very good.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersIf you are having your house plastered then of course a professional will do the job hopefully properly and you won’t need this. However, if you are a DIY’er and have a small area to do and either don’t want to employ a professional or want to save some money then this is the tool for you.

Now, I can plaster. Not perhaps to the standard of a professional but over the years of renovating houses I’ve picked up enough to make a decent fist of it. However, there’s no doubt that I’m not always perfect so this tool is where it comes in for me.

I got this just as I was about to finish off an entrance lobby and plaster it, which I did. Job was mostly okay but a few bits which were not perfect so I tried this out and I have to say it does a really good job. I didn’t use the coarse grit but only the two finer ones and the finish was perfectly smooth. A bit too smooth if I’m honest because it meant I had to go over the rest of the work to tie it in.

The dust extraction bit is the killer bit. The shroud is sprung and sits close coupled to the wall so it collects pretty much all of the dust. There is an integral fan that sucks it away and deposits it into the large bag. If you have an industrial vacuum it works even better and I used this with the suppled bag and an old Earlex wet and dry workshop vac.

Of course against plaster which is fairly friable the discs will clog up pretty quickly and this means its essential you buy a rubber for cleaning sanding discs. Just run the machine with the rubber across the pad and it pulls out all of the ingrained dust leaving behind a fairly fresh pad. It will save you a shed load of money.

Evolution have been very generous with the pads, supplying four grits and four pads of each. See the picture. I reckon as long as you clean the pads you would probably get through an entire small room with what is supplied.

Now, I also suspect that as long as you don’t press too hard you could probably use this for sanding a large flat area of wood like a table top. You would have to be careful because the size of the pads would bod the motor down quickly, but as long as you were careful it would work.

Overall a useful tool if you are renovating your house.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have wanted to try a wall sander for quite a while as the plasterer who did my house must have been on an off day and this Evolution wall sander is ideal for minor surface imperfections.

I did buy a Makita random orbit sander but it did not do wall sanding that well. Firstly the Makita sanding head/discs were too small and had a tendency to dig into the wall. The big sanding head on this evolution does not have that problem and gives a far superior finish.

Secondly while the Makita was much smaller it is single handed operation and this got quite tiring after a few minutes. While the evolution is larger and heavier this is offset by being two handed in operation, side handle, and the larger head means more coverage before a rest is needed. The manual does recommend taking a break of 5 minutes for every 10 -12 minutes of sanding.

There is a machine carry strap and while this was useful at times it was no help when actually sanding. Also included is a spare set of motor brushes but I hope it will be a while before they need changing.

The dust extraction is good and actually built into the sander body unlike some that need a vacuum cleaner attached. Just push the hose onto the sander head and the dust bag over your shoulder and away you go. I did prefer to wear the dust bag across my chest bandolier style as otherwise it did slip off my shoulder.

Obviously with a sander head this big they are certain areas where this evolution is not practical such as the angles of door architraves, parts of a window reveal and a good old fashioned sanding block and paper are required. However the time saving of doing virtually all the rest of the wall more than compensates for this.

For any deeper imperfections I found it best to use a surface skim filler, Easi fill??, and after drying completely then sand using the Evolution. Otherwise it would have meant taking off too much plaster board and maybe creating a wavy surface.

This is a powerful wall sander and it is well made too. It feels durable and when at high revs it just keeps feeling as solid. The dust extraction system is great too – gone are the days of having dust in your hair, eyes and goodness knows where else. Just a quality product and if you need to sand walls, this will get it done quickly.

This is a superb bit of kit and I wish I had got a bigger sander sooner.

We have skimmed walls and often when repairing cracks etc it is necessary to sand over large areas. This is superb for that.

Its well made yet light so it is easy to carry and importantly maintain a sanding position.

The dust extraction system works very well, often the downside to sanding, especially plaster.

Fast and powerful motor which gets going quickly. What I really like though is the spring loaded head and adjustable suction which makes sanding over uneven surfaces a dream.

I’ll be getting a ton of use out of this, very happy

VERY EFFECTIVE sander, it has a floating sanding plate, plus a floating shroud to keep the dust in control.
The sizeable machine has an efficient blower and remove collection bag on a long hose, with a should strap.
It’s a beast of a machine, weighing 2.9 kilos, bit tiring on the arms, so use in sessions, unless you have strong arms.

The dust extraction is very effective.

In use it’s loud, so ear defenders and a dust mask, eye protection and room ventilation are a must.

I love Evolution tools, I have a large sliding mitre saw with a blade which cuts and wood like cutting cheese, simple.
Spares are simple to obtain, sanding discs are very reasonable, unlike my Bosch sander, hitch has sill prices for sandpaper.

This unit comes with a lot of sanding discs and a side handle.

It will also sand down a flat wood panel or a flat door, obviously being round it won’t do the inside wall corners, or inset panels on doors, get a Mouse detail sander.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA large footprint sander that comes with its own dust extraction mechanism that really works.
So it takes 20 seconds to set up, simply align the paper to the extraction holes in the pad and you are good to go.

Many of our walls have been filled or are a little uneven, so I tried on a bit of wall that has been nagging at me for a while. The resut id I now have a wall I can paint in the confidence that the finish will look much smoother. It is an item that when you take out the box, you are not that sure of, but once in operation it is clearly well thought out. The extraction system I was very dubious of, it is literally a bag on the end of a hose pipe (all beit a little less rudimentary than my description), but when connected an the sander is going, the way that the plastic safety / disk cover goes over the work area means that the dust is literally blown straigh to the bag. I had no dust (i know) none go into the room.

Very good design, that comes with around 20 odd sheets for your sanding delight. Very happy with this tool and for 100 quid I would buy again. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe trade who use this type of tool rave about them. I’ve found it can sand filler way way quicker than a hand sander and by the look of it less dust when the hand sander can be connected to a dust extractor. Those are still useful for corners though. I’m using a gypsum based filler as it’s more permanent than the usual stuff and can also be used for patching. It’s easy to see where the filler has shrunk back to much once the sander has been used. It leaves a vary silky finish. I’m a bit of an extreme diyer and had no idea what grits size to use – the manual doesn’t help. Eventually I found a suggestion that 120 was ok on plasterboard so used the supplied 150 on a filled plaster wall. Works well and assume it wont destroy the paper on plasterboard. I used it at 1/2 speed which seems to be adequate. I also used it connected to a dust extractor – going on what happened when I used it without turning that on there may be little dust when it’s used with the supplied bag. One regret in some ways. I went for this model rather than the one on a pole as it has a more powerful motor. It seems to be more than powerful enough to me and I need to use steps hand held. I wonder why Evolution didn’t produce a pole adapter for it. Minus 1/2 a star? I would have thought that Evolution was well aware that no one likes hand held power tools that use stiff PVC covered flex. It’s a pain and they should have used rubber covered. It’s much more user friendly. However the one they supply does have a reasonable length.

I sent back a GNC sander because it was hopless, this thing was a replacement and the difference is incredible, PERFECT has a very powerful motor and when connected to my ols vacuum cleaner just about all of the dust was caught, the spring loaded skirt traps the dust but does not hinder sanding.
