Excellent vacuum sealer – easy to use – and the material protects the food (meat) very well in the freeze

I’ve worked in the food industry for almost 40 years and used vacuum sealers of all shapes and sizes. I’ve considered one at home for a while now and chose this one to be my first, and I’m pleased I did. Yes noisy, but they all are. For its size I’m very pleased as it’s easy to use and the bags it comes with are good. I batch cook while I’m at home now in the day and now my freezer looks great great and I’m very impressed with the way my food does not get freezer burn or ice inside, thus saving money in the long run.

I got this to replace my previous Foodsaver that died. Very pleased with this model, much cheaper, more compact for storage and, most importantly, seals close to the edge unlike the more expensive automatic model that wastes 1-2 inches of the bag at the top seal. Save your money and go for this, id does the same thing just better.

Really good Machine can’t believe I didn’t buy one before now. If you have a sous vide machine this is a must.

Great product and easy to use with great results. Received incredibly quickly, great seller. Only thing that I found rather dishonourable, but nothing to do with Amazon, in the box of contents was an exclusive offer of 20 percent off coupon on your first purchase fir bags, rolls etc.. I emailed GoodSaver asking where I can redeem it. To my astonishment I was told FoodSaver are not prepared to honour it as they no longer sell on their website. If this is the case why are they enclosing this discount coupon with customers purchases of this product. Not a very honest thing to do.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis newer model is so much better than the old one which was extremely difficult to use. This is a good machine.

This is a brilliant piece of equipment for any household. Great for storing leftovers or if you like to cook in bulk and store meals for future use. It’s incredibly easy to use and will increase the stored life of your food significantly.

This is indispensable for hassle free sous-vide cooking, and even just for storing and freezing food. Very large and a little bulky but in my opinion, the best I’ve tried. Yes, you can get cheaper and smaller, and they do the job but I like the roll storage and it comes with a roll and assorted bags so you an get started right away, plus an attachment for boxes and containers. Worth investing in this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was disappointed at how much space this takes up, but if you have the storage space, a vacuum packaging system is well worth it. Yes, it uses plastic, but as you can make your own bags to the required size, there is very little waste. Additionally, you can buy FoodSaver boxes that are backwards compatible with different models. I have not done this myself, but it would seem like a good idea if you want an alternative to the bags.
The machine will seal and cut bags as required or you can use ready made bags.
This is an excellent way of extending food life as shown on the image. The far right column shows the extended storage time while the middle column shows the original expected storage time.
This is not the cheapest model available, but if you can swallow the price it is probably one of the best. I haven’t compared all of them, though.

    Large, but effective

I have been using a vacuum sealer for a couple of years to sous-vide food and to preserve leftovers. If you do not have one then you should seriously consider investing.

I found this sealer to be quite a big unit due to the internal roll storage and the inclusion of the attachment for boxes and bottles. That being said it is handy to store the roll internally so it is a bit of a trade off. The finish is good – the brushed stainless looks good in almost any kitchen and wipes clean easily.

In use it is very effective. Roll out as much material as you would like for a bag, seal it and slice it using the internal cuter and your bag is ready to use. Place the food inside and clip it down then press the vacuum seal button. A few seconds later it is ready for fridge, freezer, lunchbox, sous-vide or whatever you want. The seal is strong and the included bags are durable. I have yet to try out any of the reusable boxes or bottle stoppers but I am looking forward to giving them a go.

It is a bit of a fiddle getting the bags in place for sealing, but no more than any of the other sealers I have used. And as I said before it is quite a big unit, but otherwise I think that this is a well designed and effective product.

This indeed keeps food fresh for longer. The Foodsaver removes air which is what causes food to accumulate ice crystals and if kept much longer inevitably develops freezer burn. In the past, we have had to throw away some meat that had severe freezer burn. I preserved some T-Bone and Liver using this device and after freezing the meat for several days, it was as if was just bought. So I would be happy even with the extending lifespan of food by a factor of two, this promises 5 times.

The machine is easy to use though I would have loved it to be a bit faster. It does a great job.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMuch better than my last vacuum sealer which only worked with special tubs that couldn’t be put in the freezer…

Good results from this one and thankfully uses bags this time and keeps everything neat and tidy in the freezer in handy portion sizes. I’ve been using mine for sale food mostly to keep for when needed without spoiling but I seal a lot of pre-cooked rice too and I’m just wondering if the packs once sealed can be used like a boil in the bag type thing? Haven’t tried that out yet but hoping it’s possible and will experiment a bit more with it. Very handy although it’s all a bit of a faff to get the knack of it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’ve used various vacuum sealers over the years, whether it be via LakeLand’s hand sealer, or the previous FoodSaver model, which very much took things to another level in terms of ease of use, and effectiveness, and they are truly a revelation. We live in an age of exorbitant food wastage, so the system of vacuum sealing allows you to not only feel a the benefit to your wallet, but your conscience too!

The FoodSaver models are easily the best at what they do. They have a clean, elegant design with a brushed metal finish that means the appliance looks perfectly at home in any modern kitchen.

They’re not cheap, but with a gadget like this, the tables are turned quickly, because when you start looking at the reduction in grocery bills due to not needing to replace thrown away spoiled food, it quickly pays for itself.

You can vacuum seal using the bag roll which can be cut and sealed by the machine, or use the built in attachment for the FoodSaver boxes (both old and new model, so not trying to cheat you out of money by constantly upgrading!). I’d recommend getting the new ones as they are very solid, square (so you can stack), and really get a VERY strong seal, so will help preserve even longer. All very easy to use, and once you get the hang of it, you’ll never look back.

I couldn’t recommend these products more highly. Similar to other users who’ve reviewed, they really are a revelation from the first time they come in to your life!

My previous vacuum sealer was a cheapie and didn’t have a decent lock. This is
    Shiny
large -although it has no problem with the narrower bags that I bought in too great a number
Has a lovely manual cutter built into the machine
    Is considerably quieter and logical
Comes with vacuum tubes for sealing containers.

Anyway, the bulk coffee beans are now sorted into portions so I can drink at my leisure.
    Brill.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBecause there is no auto sensor to detect and then start sealing the bag, it is a clumsy experience. The single open / lock / seal lever on the side adds to the slow process considerably.

A roll of bags is included, sadly these tend to curl, especially at the roll end and getting the bag end in the green drip tray position is not easy with a curly bag end, especially as there is a drop from the sealing position to the bench – which means you need three hands to hold the bag, lid and operated the lock, in the mid close position, the bag still falls out, it does not grip the curly bag.

Still its okay for low batch or one off use, just fiddly as heck.
For sealing a whole pack of chicken breasts, you might want the up market version with an auto sensor that detects and seals without any knobs or button -pressing.
