Hotel Chocolat was founded in 2004 to make people happy. Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris built it on three unwavering pillars: authenticity, originality and ethics. One of the few chocolate makers to directly grow some of their own cacao, on their eco-conscious cacao farm in the grounds of their Saint Lucia hotel (yes, you can stay there too), they connect the world of sustainable cacao agriculture with the hedonism of top-quality chocolate. This makes them unique in the UK, and gives them an unrivalled understanding of what impacts the taste of their chocolate, right from the growing tree.

In 2006 they bought the 275-year-old Rabot Estate cacao farm in Saint Lucia, now home to the boutique Rabot Hotel. For over a decade they’ve been directly growing some of their own cacao on their organic estate, humbly learning the intricacies of every stage of the bean’s growth and the development of its flavours – from tree to bar – so that they can create chocolate with the best possible taste. In this way, and by working with cacao farmers around the world through their Engaged Ethics programme, they proudly connect the world of sustainable cacao agriculture with the hedonism of luxury chocolate.

    Brought as a gift and its been used most evenings so far with no issues. Makes a really nice hot chocolate

    Bought as a gift for son. He loves this appliance. He says it looks good in his kitchen; he hasn’t complained about cleaning it, so it must be easy to clean.

    On placing a mug into the dish washer it slipped slightly out of my grasp as I had nearly placed it in , lightly striking a glass bottom , causing the mug to shatter , nearly completely severing a finger , it has taken over a week to heal having cut down to the bone of my finger , the edges of the broken mug were like a scalpel , so please heed this warning !!! Otherwise it is a FANTASTIC product which my wife LOVES , saying it creates THE best Lattes and Hit Chocolate she has EVER tasted ! One other thing is that occasionally you may find the device will not work , this is usually caused by slight milk residue sometimes left behind after a light rinse after use , but do not worry , this will usually clear if left as any residue left dissolves in use or you can simply give it a quick wipe with something soft , so as not to risk damaging the interior ! Do not let any of the foregoing put you off getting one if you have not already , it was so good we bought a second which we sent to our daughter in the USA !!!
