Great lego set for Star Wars fans. There have been several AT-AT walkers over the years and this is the best according to some YouTube reviews by Lego experts.

I made this with my son and it took about 5 hours to make. Great fun and he has enjoyed playing with it since.

Ok, so I bought this to accurately recreate the battle of Hoth as featured in The Empire Strikes back. Yes, I probably have too much time on my hands, and have probably grown my Star Wars Lego collection to an unhealthy amount for an adult, but nevertheless the AT-AT is perhaps the most iconic vehicle in the Star Wars universe and so is a must have model for any fan.

Also at 1267 pieces versus the UCS AT-AT’s 6785 it can be built whilst still holding down a full-time job. Yes it won’t be to true scale as the UCS version is designed to be, but at 34cm height and 38cm length it will still dwarf the rest of most collections.

Build time is 2-4 hours depending on experience and pace, or roughly 1.5 Star Wars films, and the digital instructions via the free Lego app were perfect as per usual.

The model comes with six mini figures: An Imperial Officer, two crewman, two Snowtroopers and a Luke Skywalker (the Snowspeeder pilot version with lightsaber and thermal detonator) plus a bonus speeder bike.

The model is relatively sturdy once built and whilst the legs can be placed in a walking pose they are best left straight for stability. Both sides of the main body open to reveal five seats for transporting Snowtroopers and the rear of the body even opens to accommodate the speeder bike. I was amazed to find that the small cockpit section manages to seat both the officer and the two crewmen meaning that all Imperial minifigures can be transported to battle en route to obliterate a rebel base. They were only following orders.

There is also a hidden winch which retracts beneath the model allowing you to re-enact Luke scaling the AT-AT and destroying it with the thermal detonator if you so wish. I frankly couldn’t be bothered.

Overall this is a fantastic model, not only a good display piece but also offers great playability for kids (or adults in their 30s).

Rarely enough I would also suggest for a Lego model it is fairly priced baring in mind the size, brick count and mini figures. A must buy for all Lego Star Wars fans.

The AT-AT was the Star Wars toy I always wanted as a child growing up in the early 80s, but I had to make do with the Scout Walker with the expensive AT-AT tantalisingly out of reach! As such, I don’t know who was more delighted to get their hands on this amazing set, me or it’s actual recipient, my 8yr old Star Wars mad son!

The build is enjoyable and the resulting model is very accurate to the iconic vehicle. We were pleased to see good use being made of internal space. There is room in the main body to seat five troops, we also managed to squeeze one or two more in standing between the seats. There is also room to stow the brick built E-Web blaster turret and speeder bike (which slides in and out of the back). There is a wind-able winch which can be used to recreate the scene in ESB where Luke grapples up and destroys one of the hulking walkers with explosives. You even have the little hatch that he throws the thermal detonator in to! The winch mechanism is hidden under an opening panel at the front of the body and the string and grapple gun can be fully retracted and neatly hidden when not using this feature, so as not to compromise display options. The cockpit is openable and accommodates three minifigures, I believe this is the first Lego AT-AT (other than the UCS model obviously) to capture this screen accurate detail. The legs are articulated and can accommodate a number of posing options, so long as you account for sensible weighting. The neck and it’s attached weapons also have realistic movement.

A reasonably generous selection of minifigs are included, the walker’s commander General Veers, two imperial AT-AT drivers, two imperial snow troopers and Luke Skywalker in his rebel pilot outfit. The figures include relevant accessories and are nicely detailed as expected for Lego. They could have perhaps included a couple more snow troopers to fill out the seats, but that is easily remedied by the purchase of the recent snow trooper battle pack (an excellent supplementary set to consider).

We don’t own any of the previous Lego versions of this vehicle so can’t compare like for like, but from what I’ve read this ESB 40th anniversary model is the best yet (if you don’t count the huge, expensive and adult orientated UCS one of course!). The Amazon price for this set was great at the time I ordered (90), I’d advise watching out for price fluctuations.

 

Divertente da montare e molto ma molto carino da esporre… Forse un po’ delicato per giocarci per un bambino ma fondalmente il bello dei Lego la parte della costruzione e su quello soddisfa alla grande

What can I say it’s Lego so it’s expensive…. The Lego set is what I was expecting so all good there…… Suspect delivery driver – put it in my porch I could see through glass door he had then shut the porch door took a photo, when I was just opening front door he was retaking it back out porch….. Very strange

 

Our son is totally into Clone Wars and even more appreciates the First Order than original trilogy stuff. But I couldn’t resist to add an AT-AT to our growing collection, that is heavily played with on a daily basis but kept very complete.
This 1267 piece set is a great addition to our collection, And one that offers a lot of play value. The lego AT-AT has a pretty good likeness of the iconic walker. It is fairly sizeable at about 35 cm in height. Importantly, it includes a number of extra like a speeder bike, a heavy e-webb blaster and of course 6 minifigures. This combination makes the set well worth the price.
The walker has several side panels that can fold open and a bottom hatch though with Luke can throw his deadly detonator. The cockpit nicely holds the drivers and general Veers. There is a spring-loaded shooter and a winch a line so that Luke can climb up. The 2 AT AT drivers are the most pleasing figures in the set, followed by General Veers. The Snowtroopers are quite standard but vital, though I will have to order quite few more as only two were included (potentially cheap non-Lego figures). We will use Luke as a generic X-wing pilot as we already have plenty of him in this version.
The built was good, somewhat time consuming. I build it along with my young imperial engineer. There were some Technic pieces that are sometimes a little more complex for him. But in general he could progress well without much assistance from my side required. Of course as is always the case with lego animals, dragons ect. the building of the AT AT’s 4 legs gets very repetitive. On the other hand, no stickering is required.

Despite my concerns the finished model is quite sturdy and stands well on its own, the technic pieces lend it a lot of strength. Thus and it is really swell suited for the meany battle my son will involve it in.
There are a few drawbacks; as said, more snow troopers would have been nice. Also, the snowtroopers are not wearing white hip capes. More importantly, the overall model is entirely covered with studs unlike many of the modern Lego Star Wars vehicles. This could have been prevented with a more creative use of panels (the UCS Sandcrawler is a good example). And scale wise its is still a little small as a walker.
Nevertheless I’m really pleased with this set and I think the whole combination justifies the somewhat high price point.

Great set with lots of room inside and much cheaper than Lego company. But would be cool if it came with another 2 snowtroopers.
