The Karu 16 is easy assemble, clean and transport. I had an issue where the smaller pizza stone had cracked after the first use. I contacted Ooni, they replied immediately and sent a replacement stone the next day. This oven make a great pizza and gives a wonderful wood-fired flavor when using the wood basket option.
I would have no problems recommending this oven to anyone and the fantastic service from Ooni is definitely the icing on the cake.

We have only used ours with propane but we love it! Heats up so quickly. Works well. Definitely great for the pizza lover / chef in your life!

I have already made homemade pizza and garlic bread and it was amazing. The oven gets up 800 F and live cooking in it. I also cooked a ribeye steak in a cast iron pan in the oven in 90 seconds which was the best steak I have eaten. I never go back eating from a pizza joint again.

20 minute assembly, couldnt have been easier. Did a 30 minute burn off, then began firing pies: 1)Classic Margherita, 2) Pesto, onion, and prosciutto, 3)spinach and onion, 4) Buffalo chicken. All came out perfectly cooked, top and bottom. Couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend.

I’m definitely not a pro at using this oven yet, but it I do know this makes a very tasty pizza and is a nice looking addition to our outdoor grilling station.

Our pizza game went up three levels.

It takes a bit of practice, but when you get it, you’ll have pizzas better than restaurant quality.

You’ll find great support from other users online

Starting with some background, I got really into sourdough bread over the pandemic (perhaps a little too into it, if you consult my waistline). As part of that hobby, I was already making Pizza for family dinners in our standard oven about once a month.

So first big question — does the pizza actually taste notably better? Yes! There really is a unique flavor and texture that comes from baking at 800 degrees, that combined with subtle hints of smoke, no home ovens can (safely) recreate. The higher temperature also means pizzas are done in about a third of the time, which makes it easier to actually eat the pizza together as a family.

I haven’t really branched out much on the versatility front, and my attempts at other larger loafs of bread have shown that lower temperature baking needs a lot more practice and effort. However, I am very excited to transport my oven for a future birthday party.

On the ‘not so good’ front, the internal thermometer died while I was still trying to season it for a first use. The display mount also sticks out oddly and seems to make it hard to transport. That said, I think a separate laser thermometer is more useful anyway – so it hasn’t harmed my ability to make good pizza.

    Great Pizza, Bad Thermomete

This is the best pizza oven ever. Trust me we have had two different ones and this is the best!
    Easy to set up.
We also bought the cover and it really keeps it clean in our outdoor kitchen.
If you aren’t the best with making pizza dough, go to your local bakery or grocery store to purchase.
    Lots of fun!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGreat little oven and a wonderful addition to my outdoor cooking capabilities. This little oven is super easy to use, gets crazy hot mega fast and is really easy to clean. I recommend starting a fire with lump charcoal and then adding wood to produce an overhead flame as necessary.

Personally I would not bother with the gas burner option. There are many suppliers of appropriately sized, kiln dried hard wood, and using a combo of charcoal and wood is very easy and produces fantastic results.

Do yourself a favor and buy a turning peel. I didn’t think it was necessary, but it is.

I can’t say enough good things about the wonderful seller/vendor, Max Sharps, who was super responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process. The oven is a good product, and it seems as though Max Sharps only carries very good products at a fair price. I hope to do business with him again and often.

Set-up and installation was a breeze. I considered several different pizza oven options before deciding on the Ooni Karu 16. The Karu 16 is considerably more expensive than some other alternatives, but in my mind very much worth the extra money. The engineering of this product is extraordinary (you can put your hand underneath the oven while it’s at max operating temperature!), and works just about anywhere in your backyard where you can put it – provided you have 360-degree access. I haven’t cooked my first pie yet, but the test-firing (with hardwood charcoal) and oven seasoning was easy. With charcoal, took a little over 30 minutes to get to 870 F air-temp in the oven. The only portable (really semi-portable as the unit weighs about 40 kg!) pizza oven that is endorsed by the AVPN (Associazone Verace Pizza Napoletana).

Love this oven! Took a little practice adjusting to the intense heat this oven puts out, however the end results make it well worth it! Great investment and lots of fun to use with friends and family gatherings. Awesome product and solid build! Way to knock it out of the park, ooni!

    100% satisfied with the product.

The only think I wish, was that it wasn’t so heavy.

I have yet to do try with wood or charcoal, but I will soon.

    Fantastic pizza oven.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe product arrived earlier than expected. Its a big somewhat heavy box. The 2 pizza stone add to most of the weight. Setup took < an hour just taking my time, super simple. Most is pre-built and the tool needed is included. Make sure you have a big space table to install on. Also, make sure you have or purchase a nice metal table to use this oven on...no wood of glass table, it can get HOT. The oven is wide. It comes with a grate you slide to the very back for hardwood or charcoal. I used "hardwood mesquite charcoal" my first few times. Temp got to 700 F! Honestly, it takes time to learn to perfect (and I am not there!) making your pizza. Wife made a fantastic sourdough pizza blobs. Rolled them out (shoot for thin), sauced and toppings them up! There are 2 kinds of pizza peels...wood and metal. The wood was a bit thicker but worked excellent for getting the pizza in the oven...use cornmeal so it slides around / off onto the oven easy. Then I use a long handled thin BBQ spatula to slide under the pizza and turn / move it around. DO NOT go off and ignore your baking...it will catch fire! I then used a metal very thin Pizza peel to snatch the pizza off the oven. I also decided to invent and but the propane attachment. Major improvement and ease of firing up the oven. You remove the simple airflow attachment off the back. Install the propane attachment, connect your propane tank, fire it up...hit 900+ degrees in 20 minutes! Very easy to regulate the flame in minor increments. I will be looking at other recipes and techniques to perfect the process. To say its a conversation piece and people love the pizza is an understatement! Clean up is simple and I keep up with it after every cook session. Just turn the oven off (or let the wood/charcoal wither away). Get up the next morning and scrape off the burned ash, take the stones out and scrub them in the sink, takeout side to dry...do a quick vacuum of ash inside, clean the glass and inside door / where the stones will go back with some simple cleaner (simple green)...bobs your uncle...ready for the next meal! Cheers...I really like this...I use on my back deck and I do have a 10 foot ceiling over it and despite this puppy getting to 900 degrees...no problem 7+ feet above the metal chimney with heat rising. They make a cover for it (not gotten it)...in case it does sit in the elements. I only picked 4 stars on "giftable" as you better like the person a lot to gift this expensive but awesome gift!
