East to use and performs well. It’s lighter compared to some of the other brands I’ve used. One minor comment- Once pushed against the timber you have a few seconds to pull the trigger otherwise it won’t fire. I find this time is not enough but that’s just me.

One day on and it is still simething to fine tune each time used such as depth and air pressure setting. Agree the instructions being only pictorial should be better in details hence why a 4.

This is a great piece of kit but very large is size
It will drive a 65 mm Brad into oak and sink it below the surface if you set it to . But the straight configuration of the tool stops you getting in certain spaces and it’s sheer size . The new model is angled and smaller. But I’m happy with this unit being a casual user it’s been brilliant. No jams no issues the only other downside is the instructions are very poor . But overall for the price can’t fault it highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWho new I’d have so many uses for a brad gun. I bought it for fixing fence battens, and have ended up nailing everything in sight.
Weekend rental was going to be around 70, so I thought if I have to use it twice its paid for… well its more than paid for now.

Good value compared to equivalents out there, feels well built, little on the heavy side and fired every time.
Used to fix horizontal latt fence a little over 2000 nails and worked seamlessly, way better than by hand or screwing. Also yeses for skirtings and architraves again no issues more tha no capable.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat can I say. Ryobi have come through again with another quality tool.
I normally use a air nailer but needed something a bit more portable. Can’t take a compressor everywhere. Being as I have various Ryobi one+ tools means I have accumulated over a dozen batteries which meant I have plenty to use with this nailer.

Be sure you know how a nailer works before you buy one as the instructions are very minimal with this. But once set up it’s a absolutely brilliant tool. You definitely won’t be disappointed.

Yes I highly recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to help me panel out the summer house ceiling. It really helped to make light work of the job. Great price as well when compared to the other options. I really love the ryobi one + range, all of the tools use the same batteries, and the tools are so reasonably priced.

Much better than I thought it would be.
Replacing an ancient Rapesco nailer, this Ryobi is powerful, adjustable, easy to use, much heavier but is balanced in use. Very good so far.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is the second Ryobi product that I have purchased and as I have batteries and charger getting another made sense. Just like the first product (chain saw) the nail gun soon failed to operate (and to be truthful it had not been brilliant from the start). However, the replacement seems to be operating well enough. This second product -the nail gun was purchased through Amazon and thankfully refund was without quibble and the refund was made immediately that it was in the hands of the distribution agent. I purchased another because I already have batteries and charger. I like both my Ryobi products and if you are prepared to go through the grind of packing and returning items it’s ok in the end…………., but a grind.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usersit’s very delicate.
I bought this in October 2018 (writing review March 2022) as a DIY’er and loved it. It makes life so easy when joining pieces of wood together. Those people who say 18 gauge is no good for fencing? Not on it’s own, but pinning up dozens of slats in position ready for nailing/screwing it’s excellent. One 50mm brad nail will hold the weight of a 1.8m pressure treated slat.
The delicate part; my most recent project (10m fence run) was going well until I was almost finished pinning the slats when the nail gun stopped working. You could hear it trying but no nails were being fired. I searched on web for ‘ryobi nail gun fix’ and found several videos of people with similar problems. Basically these are very sensitive to dirt in the mechanism, but it’s a five minute fix. Follow the videos to remove the nail cartridge and lubricate the striker. Good as new again.

Finally a nail gun that does what it says it will, a touch heavy when using regularly but worth it, so far not one nail jam or mis fire, very impressed and wish I’d bought this one before the 3 other cheaper options that all failed within weeks of purchase F A B.

  20. Anonymous says:

These are very handy, and a lot simpler than a hammer and nail, with the slight disadvantage that this can only drive 18 gauge nails (up to 50mm). It took less than a minute to nail up a 4m board, which would probably have taken 2 or 3 times longer with a hammer and nails.

I actually bought this one because I had been using one that I had borrowed, but that one stopped working where you could hear the motor wind up, but it wouldn’t actually fire the nail. So this was to replace the non-working one.

However, after doing some “research” on YouTube, it appears a common issue with these is lubrication of the piston(s). So I decided to take the non-functioning one apart to check the components. I did add a little 3in1 oil to the hammer pin, but didn’t add any other lubrication, and now it fires 99% of the time; when it doesn’t fire, a second attempt usually works.

    All-in-all, very handy.

  21. AltonJorgenson says:

     United Kingdom

I noted previous reviews stating that it occasionally failed to fire. I found that if this happens if you just toggle between single shot and multi and back again it cleared itself. No clue why but its been nothing but really useful for me!

I’m well invested in the ryobi one+ range already, and needed a nailer for some panelling. Brilliant bit of kit, with good adjustability for strength of driving nails. I find it slightly imbalanced in use, and it doesn’t reliably stand up on the battery as I would have liked. You can’t just tap out loads like you would with an air nailer, but this is so much more convenient. Especially working in places with no power at all.

  23. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

I wish I had bought this ten years ago. There are a few minor issues; the yellow tip keeps falling off, the gun misfires occasionally, particularly when the battery is low. The gun is heavy and it is not often easy to see exactly where the nail will go into the wood.

I bought a 5ah batter for this and it requires charging every quarter box of nails, which is about a week’s work.

Excellent overall, despite the minor niggles. Just one point; the continuous setting is scary. Keep it on single nail wherever possible.

I was going to hire an air powered nail gun but thought I’d give this a go.
It was absolutely brilliant. No misfires. Sunk the 32mm nails perfectly.
I had to buy the battery which is a drag but to be honest, I’m so impressed with the nailer I’ll probably invest in other bits of kit that use the same battery.

I bought this to replace a pasload, as I don’t use one much I went for a cheap option, it does the job, but it needs fully charged battery, it only goes up to 50mm nails, doesn’t always do a full strike first time, so always test on sample first, overall its value for money, l am pleased I bought it, I would recommend it if you don’t use one all the time

My first nailer so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it does the job and I’m very happy with it. I find it quite heavy for one handed use, but I’m not the biggest of blokes. I don’t have any other ryobi tools so I bought a badaptor and use it with my Makita batteries which works well.

My first 18g Brad nailer. Had jamming issues after 3rd nail I was thinking oh my what a piece of &@). Some YouTube vids suggested taking apart to lube a piston but I found the magazine was not aligned properly. Loosened screws above nail exit and magazine shifted position. Nails would now slid along freely and out the open end without catching. After this I was popping nails left and right and centre. Made my project a breeze. Would recommend it.

I already own a couple of Ryobi products so have the batteries. I have been putting off buying a nailer for so long, as they are quite specialist and most require air compressors. This being battery operated is perfect. Obviously a very dangerous tool, so use with all the correct precautions. But have to say, it’s awesome, makes jobs so easy.

Trally good second fix gun, easy to use and light weight plus the benefit that it doesn’t nerd gas canisters. Would have been five stars but it may not fire first time all the time, but that is a minor complaint generally it has been fantastic.

Just works perfectly. So quiet and easy to use compared to traditional nail gun with compressor set up. I used it to fix 19mm T&G boards onto 3×2 framing. 50mm brads went in just right (1mm below surface). Light weight, accurate, fuss free. I wish I’d bought one of these sooner. Now I’m thinking about getting the 16 gauge version for slightly heavier duty work. I wish they made a framing nailer like this.

  32. Anonymous says:

Very easy to use, instructions are clear and it comes with a number of 50mm nails for you to practise with. I’m finding that the depth the nails go to isn’t always the most consistent, but a quick whack with a hammer soon sets them right. For the price, nothing comes close

I do like how the light comes on when you pick it up though, that’s a nice touch to illuminate the work area

Got this last week and worked perfectly. Initially, at least. Since then, it seems to have developed a really annoying quirk. It appears to misfire 3 or 4 times before it fires but then keeps going as long as you can keep nails loaded into it. I fired over 50 in one session last night and it never missed a beat. At first it felt like the battery wasn’t charged as it sounded like it was trying to fire but it was charged fully. I’ve read other reviews that state a possible issue with it getting cold, particularly over night, but I’ve found that after it’s been idle for a few hours, it behaves the same. Others suggest some WD40 into the firing mechanism so I’ll try that. Shouldn’t have to do this with a new unit though.

So in conclusion, I have to make some firing attempts into a piece of scrap and on the 3rd or 4th attempt, it’ll fire and off we go. Not ideal but not a show stopper either. Using it only for my own hobby woodworking so not depending on it for day to day work where time is money. I’ve seen some tutorials on lubricating the firing pin and cleaning the housing but mine has been like this straight out of the box. Not ideal but if this is it’s only issue, I think I can live with it. If it gets worse, I suspect I’ll return it as I kept the original box.

hi, this nailer is superb, not so good good on value for money.
It feels safe and sturdy in the handy, a little heavy, but you get what you pay for. It hoots adequate brads, and Stapleton, loads of settings on it, so you can customise it to the wood your nailing into and ize of brads and there are plenty of sizes available.
Overall a fantastic nail gun, I built my summer house and lined it out in record time. Worth the money.

I have standardized on Dewalt tools but could not validate 350 for a brad nailer. Especially as this is for occasional use. Ryobi have surprised me – this is a great nailer. I have tried all nail lengths and it easily fires them into a variety of wood. It is comfortable in the hand is not too heavy. I use a Ryobi to Dewalt battery converter so that I can use my Dewalt batteries. Overall, highly recommend.

  39. Tyler Lacoma says:

Battery pack can make this a little unwieldy as it is quite bulky in comparison to a purely pneumatic nailer but is well balanced. It is really sturdy and very easy to operate once you get the feel of it. The loading and jam clearing are simple and reliable. I haven’t had a jam yet in the couple of hundred nails I’ve driven so far. And that is with me driving them in at a 30 degree angle.

Golden Review Award: 59 From Our UsersI was concerned that this would be too heavy and 16 Gauge would be too thick compared to 18 gauge unit and brad nails. This was not a concern once I got this unit and used it, the nailer has weight but it’s manageable even upside down (4.2Kg incl 5.0Ah battery) I’m 50+.

I’ve incl. a couple of images, one shows the 16 gauge brad nails in a 9mm hardwood ply, virtually as invisible as 18 gauge, I was worried these would be like real nails, there still thin nails just a little thicker, which is what I need for holding ply to the ceiling. (9mm ply, 32mm 16 gauge brads)
Another image shows the 16 gauge brad nails next to 18 gauge, as you can see there’s minimal difference in thickness (lengths are 25mm and 32mm I didn’t have same lengths around). when you hit a screw they both bend.

I could of bought this unit 30 cheaper from else where but Amazon customer service is second to none and other products that have failed over a year later, amazon has just been as good as gold and shipped out a replacement if needed and dealt with the supplier themselves, so I paid the extra, plus it was next day on prime.

Picture with arrows shows 16 gauge v 18 gauge in 9mm ply. (shot by 2 different guns).
Adjustable strike air pressure at rear, and fine adjust depth at shoe

If I were to choose again 18 gauge or 16 gauge, I’d go 16 gauge, it’s more versatile but still a thin nail, you wont be making frames with this, it’s more fence panels, wooden cladding, ply sheets on walls or ceilings. Works with soft or hardwood, ply or stock C16/C24, min 19mm (3/4″) x 1.6mm — max nail size 16G (1.6mm) x 65mm (2 1/2″), 100 nail clip

It’s a finishing nail gun (second fix woodwork) not for making partition walls.

For 200 it matches 400+ pro finishing guns.

    enjoy

I’ve been using this Ryobi One nail gun for about a month, and have used it to put-up a fence and attach the plywood to a stud wall. In both jobs it has worked extremely well, just as you would expect. There is no shortage of power and with a 5.0aH battery it has lasted extremely well. Overall I would definitely recommend this tool. It might just be worth noting that, with the battery on, it isn’t a light weight tool (which makes sense, because you’re holding a mini air compressor in your hand…), so just be ready for that.

I have been testimg it with nails from 20 to 45mm. It has been working jist fine, but some times when it is cold. It will not charge. You might have to use several attempts to get it to charge again. Or maby heat it up, in a worn room.

I am very impressed by this nail gun.
It is easy to use, light and sturdy.
    Nice quality materials made of.
Only bad thing for Ryobi is the pack
When you buy a power tool, not accessories, you are expecting it in a proper plastic case to hold it well.
This one comes in a cardboard box and makes it look like a cheap tool. Lack of professionalism.

I had a mains-powered one before this, which constantly blew the breaker. This is a serious tool which fires brads in with ruthless efficiency. LED lights up as soon as you touch it. Rarely jams, too. Not too heavy on battery life.
However, none of the adjustments seem to make much difference – it just belts the nails in regardless.
Only slightly humorous note was the accessory belt clip – 🙂 – you’d need a pretty sturdy belt to hang this piece of gear on! It is NOT lightweight, so you’d probably end up with your trousers round your ankles!

I found this cordless nailer very easy to use and fill with the correct size of ‘pins’/nails ranging from 10mm to 50mm in length and of approximately 1-2mm thickness which in my opinion is suitable for a vast majority of jobs required despite some of the not so positive reviews about its capabilities. Depending on the application this nailer should be able to cope with affixing decking upto 25mm in thickness using a 40-50mm nail, also shed roof and side panels, fencing and gate work, it has many uses around the house. For stud work however, I would suggest using screws as the main fixing material giving a much stronger bond. Skirting to wooden battens, even picture framing through the sides (not top to bottom), possibly even glueing for a strong fix. A brilliant piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsed for nailing edge trims over laminate flooring….no more hammering. I have a few Ryobi 1 tools, they are really worth the money. Just be sure to keep out the way of kids, this nailer can be lethal. There are others out there at 4 times the price but for hobby use this is good. The nails are more like thin strands of wire but go in with quite a force. I use 5Ah batteries as the smaller capacity ones are no use if the job will involve a lot of nailing or drilling or whatever tool you are using. Great price on Amazon too.

I will start by prefacing that I am only a hobbyist DIY enthusiast and in no way qualified to say whether or not this nailer from Ryobi would be a good trade option, but for me it is fantastic.

It has served its purpose already and is now being used for other projects. The convenience of not having compressed air and hoses is a big plus for me, and not having to actually hammer nails in is a God send. The only issue I have ad is with the jam release mechanism, being very VERY stiff, but I suppose this is a safety feature as you wouldn’t want your brad nails flying out at you mid job.

It does require the purchase of a battery to use, however I already have a few Ryobi One+ tools and batteries, which is what actually drew me to this particular nailer.

Golden Review Award: 72 From Our UsersOver the years I have collected a variety of tools to do various jobs and appreciate that a tool is only amazing if you have a need for it. A while back I took the plunge to stick with One+ from Ryobi and have built the collection around this system. I’m not going to write a long specification review as you can read that when comparing gun to gun, but I can tell you it does exactly what you need it to do, effectively, quickly and cleanly. The 2mm head 18g nails sit just below the surface off the wood on the pressure/depth I have set and are already difficult to see given the grain and pattern of the wood. I have used this to install the batten and now the larch on our film + wine room (parents name for it) in the garden. I have been incredibly impressed with the grip strength of the nails, on a rare ocassion when I’ve made a mistake, removing them is impossible and they have to be cut off instead. A picture is attached, not close up I know, but hopefully gives a rough impression.
