Straight blade, not curved with large sized teeth. Great for pruning trees or cutting wrist size branches for firewood. A great quality saw and well worth the price.

The Silky Gomboy Folding Saw is very high quality, and has a very sharp blade! The saw has a very ergonomic design, and meets the high level of quality that I expect from a top-end priced product. I am pleased with my purchase of the Silky Gomboy.

I tested the Gomboy vs. my Bacho Laplander on the same beam of wood, and the Gomboy used 4-6 less strokes to saw through vs. the Bacho. Though the Gomboy will cut though larger pieces of wood, I had to use it with care to prevent the blade from bending/flexing, but I can confidently go “ape” with the more rugged Bacho.

Haven’t broken this in too much yet, feels pretty solid and i feel it’ll come in handy while fishing clearing brush in the spring. well fit for clearing deadfall too . But can anyone explain to me why the longer version of this (270) is cheaper by $10 ?

Also hier braucht man gar nichts gro zu schreiben.

I’ve used this to cut down a 3″ diameter tree in under two minutes, cut up tree limbs, even cut a board when my hacksaw blade was worn out. Just like everyone else says, drag it, don’t saw and it works very well. Not heavy so it doesn’t cause hand fatigue. I only wish I’d known about this kind of blade sooner. Worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersInitial impressions for this saw are amazing. It’s incredibly sharp, super smooth, and cuts through wood like butter. The handle is sturdy with a very nice rubber grip and the blade has two locking positions, which I think is pretty neat. It fits perfectly in my bag and I can’t wait to test it out in the field.

To the reviewer who posted the pictures of the broken blade and the ridiculous claim that it almost cost you an eye. You’re an idiot. You were clearly not using the saw as intended as you should NEVER be putting that much pressure and force on the blade. I don’t know what the hell you were doing, but it was 100% your fault, not the saw’s.

For the longest time I would always bring a hatchet on my camping trips for processing firewood. Never again. I am completely sold on these Silky saws. This thing cuts through logs cleanly and with very little effort compared to a hatchet, and it is much lighter to carry and safer to use. Pair this saw with a 4 inch fixed blade knife for batoning and you will never have to worry about firewood on a trip. I think this is the ideal size and weight for general camping. For backpacking I would opt for one of the smaller size silky saws.

Wow! I’ve hesitated for a few years on buying a Silky. Now I regret waiting so long. I’ve been using the Bahco Laplander and Corona folding saws. They work fine but this is noticeably more efficient when cutting. If it saves time and energy, I’m all for it.

Best saw I have ever bought. Will buy many more. Every time I mention the silky gomboy my wife just rolls her eyes because she knows what I’m going to say.
I literally keep it as close to me as I can. I love and use all the time.
I’ve had it about six months. Munster go ahead and but it. 210mm I think good size not to big or small.

Amazing. Better than the laplander. Let the back and forth motion do the cutting; very little pressure needed. I can’t say enough good things about this. Just buy it.

This saw chews through wood. It is a fantastic tool and is extremely easy to use. I’ve used it to clear out small to medium sized trees to create a walking trail and it does the job very well. It isn’t too heavy and can fit in a deep pocket if need be. The only thing that leaves something to be desired is the plastic sheath, which seems to have a weak clasp and hinges. The sheath could also be improved by adding sturdier mounting points for the outside of a backpack. Overall, this saw is incredible and I highly recommend it.

Glad a didn’t buy a cheap camp saw. This is a real saw, if you’re use to using dull saws DO NOT MUSCLE THIS SAW! The guy who broke the blade is a idiot brute(fact, sorry).
I cut some stumps that were like 10″ thick pretty quick in minutes. Little 3-4″ logs take like a minute or two depending on how solid your technique is.
Important to cut logs perfectly flat and keep blade perfectly flat as well by monitoring gaps between saw blade and wood. If you always have a bigger gap on one side, you need to perfect your stroke. Cut round, teetering, never flat..
Try to use the whole blade but don’t pull the saw thru..if you are, slow down and groove a better stroke..
WOW! People just can’t think for themselves anymore so someone has to tell em..

I was so impressed how smooth and nice the cuts were. This silky is one of the most important camp tools

Best folding saw you can get.

Silky saws are the hands down best folding saw you can ever use! This is my 5th Silky saw and second Gomboy 240. I use them every spring to saw tree branches all over our property. One or two pulls of the saw and it’s off. These saw as you pull the blade to you. Not both ways, just in the pull. I live sawing this way.
Also I do a lot of bushcraft and Silky’s are always with me. I used to carry a camp axe but can do more with the Silky and my ESEE knife. So I also save weight leaving the axe behind. I build shelters and process fire wood with the Gomboy and it will zip through wood quickly. I’ve sawed up to 11″ logs but prefer to saw 6″ diameter and under for firewood in camp. I also make different wood tools to hold pots over the fire, make eating utensils and other bushcrafting tasks. As I mentioned, the Silky Gomboy and my ESEE knife will do 95% of everything I do. A pocket knife and filet knife will do the rest.
It has a comfortable grip and super sharp teeth! It processes wood quickly and will saw larger size logs if needed. I used to carry a Bahco Laplander but gave it away when I did a head to head test against a Silky. The Silky left it in the dust and it wasn’t even close. I prefer to get tasks done as quick and easily as possible and the Silky dies just that!

I was tired of throw-away saws which cut well for a while, then blade dulls, cannot be sharpened, so throw-away. This is exactly what I wanted in a saw for round the home work. Love it, and just what I was looking for. Used quite a bit already. 2 blade settings, and one allows cutting from underneath without having to do acrobatics.

Love the 3 different tooth saw blades that are available. I ordered the “medium” and expect to order a fine-toothed blade for some of the trim work I do. Also love the plastic carrying protector. Highly recommend., quality hand-tool.

I am a woodworker. This looks like a woodworkers tool but it is not.The teeth are far to aggressive to safely cut on a line. It is however an excellent limb lopper, perfectly suited for tree work. The hollow ground blade ,superbly sharpened teeth, coupled with a folding action that is as steady as a solid tang, Make this tool one you will keep.

I watched a lot of reviews about different saws and the Silky Gomboy 240 was highly recommended a lot. I thought I would give it a try and I’m very happy with my purchase. As soon as I received it, I tested it out on several logs ranging in diameter from 2″ to 6″ and it cut through everything with ease! It’s very comfortable to use and feels very well-made. The manufacturer paid a lot of attention to detail and used quality materials in the Silky saws. The blade lock up feels very solid and I never felt like it might fail. I recommend this to anyone looking for a saw that can cut anything from small branches/trees around the yard to decent size logs/trees when camping for fire wood, hiking, clearing trails or even woodworking. It fits easily in a backpack and comes with a high quality case.

I’d already bought a Silky Pocket Boy having watched a YouTube channel (Thanks Lars) and was amazed how easy it cuts through anything that is wood. For slightly bigger adventures I went for the Gomboy 240 (MM) as it is just that bit bigger for pruning bigger stuff where I don’t feel safe with a chain saw and holy cow I am hardly using the chain saw. By the time you check over the saw, prime it, start it, warm it up the Gomboy’s cut through the branch. Silky saws cut on the pull stroke. I cut and prep a lot of fire wood as we have a wood burner. Hence to say I will never ever pick up a bow saw ever again. With a 240mm long blade that folds into the handle it is still very portable in a back pack for camping or hiking. Once you use a Silky you’ll never look back.

I absolutely love this saw! It cuts like nothing you have ever experienced before. In order to really understand how good it works, you just have to buy one and try it yourself. Like is says on the instructions “pull only and it will do the cutting for you”
I tied this to a pole and cut down a rather large tree piece by piece and it is still 100%. It works great as a pole saw, almost effortless.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAfter a few years of “casual” research I pulled the trigger on this one. I was hesitant because I WAS a through and through axe/machete/hatchet man. What good could a puny Asian-made gardener’s folding saw do, after all??? Sometimes it feels good to be wrong. Lol

This saw cuts through green wood like a hot knife through butter. I use it a lot here lately. Great for making wooden mallets and tarp stakes. I really can’t believe it took me so long to finally purchase one.

Many, many, many years ago when I was in the Scouts, we had a very dull one that our scoutmaster let us use for bush crafting. I guess that’s why I never have been partial to a folding saw. It sucked backsides. This Silky has sure changed my mind. Great saw, ok plastic “confusing” sheath.

I replaced the blade the other day and it was an extremely simple task. Scary sharp, again, scary sharp. Seriously, could actually be used as a defensive weapon in a bind.

I carry it with me when my sons and I go out in the woods. FYI, it only cuts when you pull, not push. This knowledge comes in handy and will curb any frustration. I truly enjoy using it.

    I hope this helps someone. : )

    Didn’t know I needed one....

I wanted something to take into the woods with me to help with gathering material for spoon carving. This saw is (almost) exactly what I needed, but the almost is my fault. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone with the larger teeth. The medium teeth leave a very smooth finish, but the finish isn’t really important to me. This was the largest size (240mm) that came with a plastic case, which I really wanted.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this instead of hand chainsaw for my hunting pack. This is fantastic. Just 5 pull strokes and through a 6″ dia softwood branch. Zero effort. Weighs very little.
    2 improvements
-Do away with plastic case that just rattles, ok if not worried about noise.
-Slightly thicker blade, but imagine the thinness of the blade most likely helps with less cut resistance.
All in all-buy this. It works, and well

Fantastic saw, as long as you remember it only cuts on the pull. I have both the curved and straight blade versions; this one might actually be my favorite for cutting wood closer in diameter to the full length of the blade. The curved one doesn’t seem to do quite as good in that application, but it’s still awesome.

You can’t go wrong with a Silky, provided you’re patient and deliberate about it. If you go trying to push down hard in both directions or hurry the cut too much, you’ll bend the blade. Read the 1-star reviews about blade flimsiness to see what I’m talking about.

Over the last few years I have dabbled at being a “Prepper” and last year decided to make a sort of “Go Bag”. I know next to nothing about tools other than hammers and screwdrivers (and not much about those), but the Gomboy came highly recommended to have, so I got it. Honestly, I figured I’d never actually use it, that it would sit and collect dust like the rest of the Bag. However yesterday, I was packing up my Dad’s home, and was throwing out an old queen-sized bed. The problem was the headboard/frame was too big to get out the door/down hall, and it was assembled using some tool we no longer had. It was made of 2x4s and other sized wood and I remembered my Gomboy, which I went and retrieved. I had a go and was astonished at how well and easily it just zipped right through the wood. I had to make 8 cuts in all, through upwards of ~4″ of wood, and it took me no time/effort. If I never use my Gomboy again, it’ll still have been worth it. Great tool! Thanks Gomboy!

This is an excellant pruning saw. It even cut through a 6″ branch as a test, though using a bow saw or chainsaw on this would be easier. On branches more suitable for a pruning saw, this is the best make I have used. My only negative comment is that though the price shown includes carriage, it does not include customs duty and the carriers admin fee, if shipped from outside the EU. This one came direct from Japan, and I had to pay an additional 16 to the carrier.

The teeth on this Gomboy Say are very sharp. when cutting on the push stroke its easy and does not bind. on the pull stroke I can feel the teeth grabbing the wood and cuts vigorously .
I took this saw with me on a kayak trip this afternoon, knowing that there was two trees that had been pushed over from flooding, causing the tree and limbs to ob-stuck the water passage for Kayakers causing many kayakers to turn over in the rapids.. I was able to cut both tree limbs out of the way with no problems. both limes was about 6 to 8 inches round. I was amazed on how well this saw cut with ease. We have used regular hand saws before and it took 2 to 3 times as long and the hand saw would always bind up continuously.
The only issue I had was the tip of the blade of this Gomboy saw broke off. The saw did not get in a bind and I never felt it hit anything hard.
Over all, I would recommend this saw to any one that needs a good dependable saw.

Bought it mainly for camping trips to process dead branches for camp fire. So far, I only tested it to trim a huge Lilas tree at home and I was positively surprised. Quick and very clean cuts. Keep in mind that it is a pull saw, not a push saw and you won’t bend it. The sheat is ok for home work but in rough wood I would not trust it on a belt. I need more testing in ruffer terrains and more type of wood to set an honnest review.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersMany people have noted that this saw cuts like a chainsaw. I’d like to point out some differences.
It does cut very quickly and easily, but you have to provide the sawing motion manually.
It isn’t oily from the chain oil. It won’t get your pocket or backpack oily.
It will fold up and fit in the side pocket of my hiking pants. I could not find any chainsaw that could do this.
    It’s quieter.
It doesn’t leak gas nor does it stink like gas.
I can’t say it’s cheaper. There is a plug in chainsaw on Amazon for $42. But you would need to pack along a generator.
It’s way lighter than a chainsaw. I would not want to pack a chainsaw for a few miles up and back. All in all a labor saver.

I took it on it’s first outing and cut a bunch of offending brush and tree branches out of the trail. Worked great. Not so good for willowy pencil thin stuff, but anything 3/4″ or larger it was great for.

No complaints. A very good saw. Cuts smooth and fast. Great value for the money. I think anyone that does a lot of outdoor activity from gardening to bushcraft will fall in love with this handy saw.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLove this saw. Very sharp and quickly cuts through limbs. Comes with plastic cover which you can hang from belt or throw away as saw folds up neatly and fits into cargo paints pockets easily. Filled up my 4×4 boot quickly with this unit with a nights worth of firewood in about 20 mins. Great buy, highly recommened.

I put this in my hiking/hunting bag. Can’t beat it. Slices through limbs like butter.

I’m in love and now need a couple more. Wish I had ordered the Gomboy with course teeth, but the medium works well enough. Be mindful of the super hard blade it will break more than bend. Just let the saw do the work.

I am liking this little saw so much. Am using it around my property to cut small trees. Very sharp which makes cutting a lot faster. Thinking of getting the bigger one also.

It’s a real katana! Feels like cut butter. Bad thing about it, you should be carefull, It’s too sensetive you can break it easly and It has not any lock mode when It is closed

Excellent soil. I bought this for backpacking but have really mostly use it in the backyard knocking out of branches. I got in through limbs about 5 in thick at this point. Obviously the thicker they are the more elbow grease you use but the sort eats right through it. The blade is pretty flexible so always make sure do you know that it cuts on the pole not on the push. If you do that you won’t have to worry about bending the blade. It folds up pretty good and comes with a nice little hard plastic case with a folding lid. There’s also a rubber belt strap kind of device which works well. If you did carry on your belt you don’t have to worry about taking your belt off to remove the case the way the strap is designed. I watched a ton of YouTube videos on this saw before getting it and I would have to say I’m very impressed by it. This thing eats through limbs like a hot knife through butter.

Many people are down on the Silky because they don’t use them correctly and break the tips. This type of saw only cuts on the backstroke, so pushing against a thin blade will break it. Once you get used to it, it cuts much better and faster than standard hand saws.
