Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI read a few comments from other buyers that the set seemed a bit small for a taller drummer. I found that if you mount the drums above the rail with the extended out to the end of the slide rods, the kits is big enough for taller drummers. Very satisfied customer. I’ve recently had friends over who are considering a similar purchase.

100% recomendado!

    Excelente batería electronica!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI got this set with the expansion pack which was well worth it to me (the 4th Tom has a rim effect that sounds a bit like a tambourine and the second Crash has a different sound than the standard one.)

It was relatively easy to put together but in the end it took me 8 hours to play around with things to get them to where I wanted.

Then theres the wires which they don’t show in the product images

The drum heads are solid but small, especially the snare.

The Kick drum basically needs 20+ pounds backstopping it or to drill the base into something.

The frame is pretty sturdy but the two shorter end posts will tend to lean in for me (I did put more than intended on them and only have two Toms on the front bar. (I’m going to put something to lock the rubber bottoms of the rail stand in place.)

The choke feature on the Crash & Ride Cymbals is a little sketchy. Theres about a 2″ section dead center on the edge that controls it but if you miss the exact spot, no Choke which may not be the end of the world but is annoying when you expect it to work like grabbing a regular Cymbal only to find you were slightly off.

Another plus is that it’s easy to fold the sides in and pickup and move. It’s surprisingly light while still sturdy overall.

The components to setup each head or Cymbal all have three points of adjustment for tons of control. I would try to get it setup how you want it in terms of height, spacing, angles etc. before running the cables and the leave enough slack to make adjustments without having to reconfigure any cables.

Because I knew I would have to screw the Kick pad into something I set up the set on a piece of 2′ x 4′ plywood which is great with something underneath to protect the floor which then allows you to slide the set around easily.

I’m very happy with the set and the only additional thing I’ll get ag some point is a double-base pedal.

This is a perfect set for a beginner and with the expansion pack it really looks impressive with four Cymbals and four Toms.

Overall, great set for a beginner or anyone who doesn’t want to spend $3k plus on a professional digital set.

Great set with lots of flexibility to configure

Good drum set for beginners or people with little room (be aware, is a bit small if you are very big). It has all you need, good sound and response, all basic features and some more.
If you have a drum set and only need something at home for practice, or you are beginner – intermediate, is a great option.

This drum kit is excellent value for money and sounds great.

A few things could do with improvement:

    – The stand is a bit flimsy
    – The snare drum sits too low
    – The rims are a bit too high

Saying that, with these improvements, the kit could easily cost more.

To be honest, I think it would be worth paying more for the Surge kit, just for the bigger snare, wider bass drum (essential if you want a double pedal) and more solid stand.

Overall, great for amateurs, not for pros.

I searched a lot for the price and quality ratio. I’m so glad I got this drum set – it is the best I could expect at this price range and as a beginner it’s even an overkill for me, but will allow me for many years of great value – mesh is strong to hold all types of drumming. Pedals or OK – I hope they had a sucking mechanism at the bottom, to prevent from sliding over my laminate floor, but I placed a rubber rug, so it prevents it from sliding. I also wish it had an XLR out instead of the 1/4 inch PL jack, but in overall it’s a great kit!

Very impressive. Purchased with the expansion pack ( extra cymbal / Tom) great sounds, intuitive drum module, plenty of different drum kits and sounds. Quick record and playback function is a nice feature. Pleasantly responsive mesh drum heads. Sturdy kick pad and excellent quality kick pedal included. The drum frame, whilst easy to assemble never feels particularly sturdy, though not an issue when playing and the snare is a little small. On balance this is possibly the best beginner to intermediate kit out there. With the expansion pack and the spares availablity this kit will last! I can also highly recommend the cool music 100w instrument/drum amp on Amazon.

Very impressed with the feel of the mesh, it gives a much more natural drum feeling than a pad. I was able to connect my old DM6 kit to the nitro mesh kit to create my normal setup.
I’ve had an issue with the bass drum pad, even with the sensitivity and volume turned up full it’s still lacking in sound, so I use my old one for the bass drum and the new one for some sound effects. The Stand or frame is quite flimsy so I used the DM6 stand and some parts of the nitro mesh stand to create my own.

    Great sounding ki

Vedremo col tempo come regge

Bought this for my son for Christmas and he loves it. It’s a great quality kit for the price. Quite easy to put up, probably took around an hour to assemble. Drum sounds on the kit are good, but when linked via Midi to drum software on Logic, it sounds brilliant and expands the kit’s capabilities. It’s good for beginners, but with the additional software would meet the needs of advanced players too.

This is my first drum kit. After a month or so of using it I’ve had absolutely zero problems. It’s responsive, feels good to play and is pretty quiet (kick pedal excluded). I mostly use it with Logic, which is works with easily. The built in sounds don’t sound especially great, but they’re fine for just quickly putting headphones in and playing without bothering with the computer.

This set is great, it comes with many options for customization. However the directions are absolutely pathetic. There are no written instructions at all you must simply figure it out on your own. Their installation guide is just a bunch of pictures where the parts are labeled with letters like ABCD but the actual components have no corresponding letters at all.
Luckily I play drums for my church and we have a similar set there, my brother-in-law also has this exact set so after looking over there sets I was able to put mine together.

I bought the expansion pack from guitar center so I have the extra Tom and the extra symbol. I highly recommend you purchase the expansion pack as it makes it much more fun to play.

    The drums are high quality!
    They sound great!
You can create custom sets and mix your favorite sounding drums.
They are extremely responsive. They register hits as fast as I am capable of hitting them.
True recoil feels like your hitting a real drum.

The question I always ask myself when leaving a review, would you buy this again?

My answer without hesitation is Yes! This kit is well worth the money and if I needed another drum set I would not hesitate to buy this one again!

The sound is very good and there are plenty of variations of different kits. Plenty to play with or investigate. It good for beginners but also good for practice for players. Especially during the pandemic. Practice with an acoustic kit is noisy and causes distraction. Also easy to fold away when you finish. It seems to be good value for money.

I’m totally new at learning to play the drums and as the Alesis crimson 11 SE doesn’t come with a bass kick pedal I needed to buy one.
I bought this one as its Alesis too and was at the lower price range.
All i can say is it works well for my needs it needs a small amount of putting together on arrival but easy to do once you look at it.
A quick update i now use this Alesis kick pedal on my practice pad kit and bought the Stagg pp52 kick pedal for the edrum set and although its a bit more expensive its so much more stable so if you can go for the Stagg still low end price wise but its heavier and nicer to use.

Plus I can play it as loud as I want without upsetting anybody. Took a couple of hours to put it together. I watched a YouTube video which helped. I play my iPod through it as well. Brilliant!

  52. Anonymous says:

Relatively easy to assemble, but it’s trial and error as to which port is for which instrument by default. Interesting that the controller obviously handles better pads – because the “dual zone” crash pad (for muting), if plugged into the ride port, gives you a bell sound as well as a ring (but as you only get one, you can’t then mute your crash).

Kick pedal was a little finicky to set up to get it hitting in the middle. Sounds are about what you’d expect and you won’t be recording with those – but for a jam/learning to play, they will do a nice job. Velocity sensitivity seems decent even if it isn’t world class – true test will be when I use it as a midi controller (its intended purpose for me).

I’m not the tallest in the world (6’2) but feel like the frame could be a little taller? I’ve maxed it and the snare feels a tiny bit low – but I could always fix that by putting it on some blocks of wood or something.

Bought this for my son, takes up far less room than a conventional drum kit. Always tuned as well. The sound once set up, sounds like a conventional kit.
My only gripe was there’s no speaker kit, we happened to have an old sound bar and sub which works perfectly with it, but bear in mind you will need a decent compatible speaker that has enough oommpphh

  55. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Everything you need as a rehearsal tool. Even for low-key gigs (you know the ones- “can you turn the drums down…”)
Rims are a bit on the high side so you may end up cracking the rim if the pad is not angled correctly. Pads are relatively small but shouldn’t be a problem. Snare does rim and head so get two different sounds.
Got midi, which is useful. Tried attaching some roland pads (rubber and mesh) to the brain part and they didnt respond as well as the alesis/supplied pads. Shame as the roland mesh pads are nicer. (have played with all the settings and got some usable results but still not as good as pads that came with it)

    For 300 its recommended

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is my first drum kit, I’m 46 and a new player. I have 2 sons that also beginners.
I bought this after reading lots of reviews, since I’m new I didn’t want to spend a lot especially if it doesn’t get used. I plan to have this 1-2 years and if it’s being used upgrade to a mid to high level set.
Overall I’m very happy with this kit however there are 2 things that should be considered.
    1) the max height could be slightly higher, i am 5″10 and found myself hitting my legs when hitting snare. That said im new so it could be my technique. I did by some furniture risers for $5 from Kmart that solved the issue.
    2) I personally find the snare is too small for learning. When playing basic beats it is ok. Watching videos professional or skilled players don’t have an issue with it but for me learning it’s a different story. When doing online lessons I had to use the snare and when learning rudiments and the like the 8″ snare and high rims become an issue for me especially when using my left hand which I don’t have as much control with at this stage This become more apparent when trying to increase my speed I often found myself hitting the Rim or other drum stick. I can hear the kids hitting the rim often too. I dont find the snare an issue as much when playing to music that is at my speed/skill level, it’s only when trying to increase speed or learning new rudiments that I come into issues.
I would recommend buying a practice pad as i did as that helps learning without the issues of the small snare.
I have already begun looking at upgrading to a larger snare.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBack in the day, people used to say that something fun was “the most fun you can have with your clothes on”. It was a bit of a naff saying but it did the rounds for a long time.

Well, drumming might just be that fully-dressed frolic that works for me! I laugh out aloud whether I’m getting something right or hilariously wrong, and its invigorating and rewarding at the same time.

This kit covers just about all that I want to achieve. I was getting it to replace the old Octapad II that I still have. That was getting a bit unreliable and I just wanted to trigger drum sounds elsewhere, but to my surprise, actually playing and learning new tricks has proven to be pretty engaging and exciting.

It’s hard to assemble, and heavy too once it starts coming together (well, it has to be). The instructions are okay, but not overwhelming. We really need another picture for a little Ikea-man lying on the floor throwing a tantrum when putting one of these together. It’s kinda exciting to see it taking shape, though.

The instructions are a bit fuzzy on things like orientation of parts – is this crossbar the right way up, or upside down? Getting the kit assembled is partly instruction and partly inspiration.

Once it is set up, the fun begins. The module (brain) controls everything except your playing, and has a bunch of demo tune for playing along to, with drum parts that can be switched on or off as required. You can also choose other kits (sounds) to play or concoct your own kit from the various sampled sounds, mixing bass drum with snare from another kit, and cymbals from yet another one, and so on.

There are practice functions to improve your timing and accuracy in other regards as well, and switching on the metronome while playing along to a demo tune will also invoke the function that watches your timing. You can even play music from your phone or some other device and drum along to that. I record music and have made drumless versions of my own music to play along to. It might also be possible to find such tunes online, by bigger rockstars than me!

You can also play drums into a DAW (USB-midi) and assign the hits to different drum sounds, meaning that you can add your own playing to any demo tracks you are recording and also change the sounds as you go.

It’s a beginner kit in many ways. The drums are all single-zone but for the snare, which has two. This means that the sounds are less changeable by techniques such as where you strike the drum, although they are obviously velocity-sensitive and you get a lot of nuance that way. You have to move up to another kit to get that feature.

You can add another tomtom and another cymbal to this kit using the two spare inputs on the brain module. I’ve not become an expert with this one yet, but who knows, one day I might do a whole-bar fill that goes around the kit and miss that final drum and cymbal. It’s comprehensive enough for a long time musician getting into drumming, there’s a lot to learn.

Build quality is “sturdy”. It needs to be! It’s heavy as a large boulder but things like the bass drum pedal, while fantastic and just like a proper one, are so light that they will creep across the floor as you play the bass drum, eventually ending up out of reach! So you really need to look at getting a backstop for wandering pedals. The hi-hat pedal doesnt have the same wanderlust. It’s not so bad.

Playing acoustically is hilarious, just a collection of weird bumps and binks and bops as you hit the pieces, so headphones or an external amp are the way to go. I’ve used a guitar combo to good effect, although you really have to do some serious equalising of the sound to get something acceptable. Headphones is great too, and with other people in the house perhaps it’s the only polite option. Playig upstairs on a wooden floor would be antisocial either way, so use a good drum mat or something to deaden the bumps if you are in that situation.

As a 60-something just getting started, this is great fun, and with great fun comes great progress. I’m now confident that I could amaze someone with my drumming (unless they were also a drummer) and was at that level after about 2 months of playing an hour or so each day. I’ve come to a plateau in my progress and now need to look into specific things, most importantly trying to get my right foot (bass drum) to stop following my right hand (hi-hat cymbal) when I change the rhythm on one or the other. This “rewiring” of the brain is a common obstable that is only overcome with practice, and this kit provides more than enough fun to keep me going while I figure that de-coupling skill out.

It’s not for everybody. If you’re easily discouraged then it really doesn’t matter how great a drumkit is, you probably wouldn’t stick with it anyway, but if you’re even moderately ambitious and open about having to learn and improve, this is a real blast. I doubt I’ll ever regret buying this kit and using it to “upskill” myself in music. There’s also nothing quite as satisfying as now having demo tracks on which I really did play every last instrument myself! No drum machines, no pre-recorded tracks slipped in, just my own work.

    Enjoy!
