This is very heavy which makes it ideal to take out into the garden: I have been using a Roberts, which has better sound quality, but is easily knocked over. The volume (I only use it for speech) is not great, even when full on, but it is enough for sunbathing where the set is near my head. The aerial isn’t needed in my area. The great number of presets available is far more than most people will ever need, and they are accessed by turning the dial rather than by push buttons, which is a bit of a nuisance. The set looks quite smart, and re-charging the battery by USB slot is reasonably fast. Operation is as expected from a DAB set. FM is available, but I have no need to use it. Nothing exceptional, but solid and seems well-made.

All round brilliant, battery life could do with being longer than
    4 hours

The design, the LCD screen and everything how it looks like is superb. Great gadget with radio however I am not fully satisfied with the sound quality. It is flat and hollow.
Battery life is good, it holds a few hours.

I’d wanted a DAB radio for ages, we have one at work, and I’m really pleased with this one. It looks really smart yet retro with a cream plastic front and a black faux leather wrap around the sides, handle in the same faux-leather. Looks really smart. It was a little heavier than I’d expected but this adds to the solid feel of it, and gives it more stability. My first and only gripe is the fact that the power switch is at the back and I was expecting it to be at the front with the other controls. The controls are simple to use and intuitive and have a nice touch feel to the buttons, the display is also clear and easy to read.
Dead easy to scan and locate the stations which then display in alphabetical order. Couldn’t be easier.
Sound quality is pretty good for a radio this size and all told, I absolutely love it!
    Hope this review was helpful

I ordered this for when I am gardening and want to listen to football.

Arrived in smart branded box, ideal for a gift.

This is a very modern adaption of the trusted radio.

Exceptional high quality finish, very well made.

Great sound, very loud speakers that don’t distort when turned up high.

Small, compact and mobile radio, smart technology can link to phone via Bluetooth. Can be an alarm clock, work to a set timer and can be powered by battery or USB C lead provided.

Overall, great quality retro radio. Is an expensive radio but still value for money for this level of quality.

    I would recommend this product.

Good selection of features present, with DAB+, standard FM radio and of course Bluetooth/Aux for connection to your phone or iPod to make use of its rather impressive speaker.
has a clear backlit matrix led screen. That shows information about the radio station you are listening too. you just hold the preset button to add one; this makes it quicker to get back to you favourite stations as otherwise you have to scroll through them using the arrow keys. The audio for DAB is good. If you are listening to music the speaker works well with a variety of music. Its a small radio so it isnt a bass monster but it isnt all mid-treble sounds. If i had a criticism is it tends to sound a bit mushy at higher volumes in the mid range. If you have bluetooth enabled it will auto connect to your phone when you power it on.

As others have pointed out, it is a little on the pricey side, but it seems to be really well put together and there were no production faults on it at all. It is relatively light and portable and scanning for stations was simplicity itself. The outer packaging is good enough it would also make a good present for someone.

I’m not sure where the 20W figure comes from. The manual lists it as 2 x 3W and that sounds about right. Perfectly loud enough, but not great for a party. The sound is a little lacking in bass and the EQ settings don’t help much. You would need to spend more to get better sound.

The radio is excellent, both DAB and FM. It will give you a great many stations to choose from. I have often found DAB a little unreliable, but not with this device. It is mostly what I use it for. I like that the time is pulled automatically from the radio signal so you don’t have to set it.

It feels like they could have squeezed in a bigger battery. It’s quite a big device. However, I find I am getting longer than the suggested 4 hours, even on DAB. Possibly, because I only need to set the volume to about 30%.

I keep this in the bathroom. It’s not waterproof, but the rubber covered controls seem to handle wet fingers well and I only have to remove it occasionally for a charge.

The following is a review of the i-BOX ‘Harmony’ DAB/DAB+ and FM Radio’ It comes in a descriptive box together with instruction manual and power adaptor/charger fitted with a 3 pin UK plug. Once out the box and a read through of the instructions — recommended as the on/off switch is on the back of the radio! Its front is a sort creamy colour in plastic with the actual casing and strap in a sort of imitation leather but it does look the business — reminds me of when a radio looked like a radio. Being rechargeable is handy and didn’t take too long to fully charge – there is bar graph to show its progress. Once charged it was a case of finding stations as being a DAB radio, I will point out our old DAB set was a pain to get a decent signal installed but its due to the area we live in and no, we are not moving house to gain a better signal.. The LCD screen is very informative and easy on the eye with all the basic information there — the sleep mode was doodle to set by the way. While tuning the FM bands was swift but as I have outlined, the DAB signal took a lot of doing but it’s not the radio’s fault but the actual signal but we got there eventually although the pull-out telescopic ariel was a bit hit and miss but I must remember to fold the handle down first before pulling the ariel up though…slap wrist.. Sound quality is quite good I will say considering its size as it is after all a portable radio and don’t expect it to belt out concert hall level sound. The buttons have a sort of ‘soft touch’ to them and respond quickly enough when pressed, the Bluetooth connection was swift and very quick to connect. On the back of the set are the connections for the charger /power supply – see photos. The battery life is respectable, although we don’t have it on full volume anyway but we had a good Sunday afternoon with it outside and it was still going strong when we came in. Overall impression is it’s a nicely designed radio – mind the on/off switch at the back though! – and gives a good sound and looks stylish in any setting, indoors or ou

A good sound and looks stylish in any setting, indoors or ou

    Good retro radio with bluetooth.
The description is not quite right, no sign of USB C cable, just a PSU.
And DAB don’t seem to work with PSU plugged in, you need to use as portable?
The bluetooth set up was easy.
The sound quality is decent for both radio and BT.
The size is just right with a strap on top for portability.
The built in battery of 2500mAh is not particularly big capacity,
    Price is reasoable.

    Good retro DAB with bluetooth

This is a very attractive looking DAB radio, with a rechargeable battery, and excellent sound quality.
The DAB radio is excellent. Even without the aerial extended, when used upstairs near a bedroom window the tuner found over 100 stations. Downstairs away from windows it was not quite as successful, but still very quickly found all of the main stations that I would expect. And the sound quality is very good, very full and rich.
There is also an FM tuner which does a similarly good job.
In addition the radio will connect to other devices via Bluetooth (though not all devices, I found) and via cable. The radio can also be used to charge other devices via a USB cable — such as Bluetooth headphones or a mobile phone. This, however, obviously impacts how long the battery will last if the radio is not plugged in.
This has always been the main downside with DAB radios — they eat batteries incredibly quickly. This is a problem that this radio seems to tackle by basically almost being a battery with speakers attached. It’s difficult otherwise to work out why it is so heavy — its heft reminded me of a car battery (it’s about half the size and about half the weight).
Yet the battery life is remarkably poor, at best about four hours of continual use. So, although theoretically portable, the practical portability is limited. You are not going to hump it around too far, and even if you do it’s not going to play for very long.
So for a radio in the home where it can be plugged in, it’s great. Hard to fault. But the battery is really no more than a means to keep listening if you move the radio between, or maybe for use in a power cut. But if you are looking for a DAB radio to take with you when you are out it’s maybe not the ideal option. Though that can be said about any DAB radio.

This radio/speaker does look classy in a retro way. It looks and feels well made. It does not look cheap and has the feel and weight of a quality item. The controls are simple and easy to operate. It is easy to charge and the battery does seem to last. I have been using it for 3 hours plus and it is still on 2 out of the 3 bars. It is portable and would be easy to take it on the picnic or the beach. The DAB and FM radio work well. It found the DAB stations easily enough. It is very easy to pair to your phone or whatever device to play music via Bluetooth. Sound quality is pretty good. Sufficient bass for me (not that I am into music with a lot of bass). The sound is clear and detailed. Reasonably powerful for the size of the device. It can be used as power bank but as it only holds 2500 mAH, I am not sure it would fully charge my phone. Could be useful in an emergency but not really a big enough battery to charge much. I was reasonably impressed with the sound quality for its size, like its portability and its simplicity to use. This is a good value good quality radio Bluetooth speaker. I have been using it in my study today and am quite impressed. I am pleased with it and I like it.

I have been wanting a DAB radio for years. How lucky I am to have received this. It’s ideal.
Plugged it in, set it to standby so the internal battery could charge. That was late last night so I couldn’t try the radio… wife was sleeping. This morning without paying too much attention to the instructions I located and store my favourite stations: Kerrang!, Planet Rock, Absolute Rock, Radio 2 and Classic FM. Easily done… and possibly easier still if I had looked at the instructions. The first scan showed over 100 stations.
Set the EQ to Rock and listened to Gimme Shelter by Ladies and Gentlemen The Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World, The Rolling Stones. Considering that song is from the 60’s, it sounds fantastic. OK, it sounds even better through a 450W, 5.1 system but when I’m in the kitchen this radio will have to do.

The unit has a good sound and the EQ selection may suit your needs.
Bluetooth connection is an option and so is plugging in a source.

A well made and useful radio/audio system that when unplugged will accompany me into the garden.

This DAB radio and Bluetooth speaker arrived quickly and well packaged.
It was easy set up, with a choice of inputs : audio, dab, bluetooth or built in FM DAB radio.
Once plugged in, it automatically finds stations to save and store.
It even has a USB port for charging devices such as smartphones and smartwatches
If using wireless , you get up to four hours run time, plenty of time to listen to your favourite stations.
The sound quality is fantastic and it looks nice in any room, suitable for any decor.

This is a nicely packaged, lovely looking radio with an off-white fascia and black faux leather wrapped around the body. The handle is made of the same material. There is an instruction manual included but it’s really not required — everything about this radio is well designed and intuitive. The only slight issue I had was that I didn’t notice the on/off switch on the back of the set and couldn’t work out why it wouldn’t turn on using the “Standby” button. The buttons themselves are a nice rubbery texture needing just the right amount of pressure to work. Selection of DAB and FM stations is via the fast forward/rewind buttons with a push on the volume control changing the channel. The Bluetooth connection is simple — it connected to my phone first time with no issues. In terms of design, the only slight quibble that I would raise is that the handle can’t be moved out of the way around the back of the radio when the aerial is extended.

The back of the set has connections for mains power (which also charges the built in battery), a standard headphone out socket, a USB 5V output and an Aux In socket.

Once turned on, the radio automatically found all the available DAB+ stations in my area (my old DAB radio didn’t have DAB+ so I was pleased to see PlanetRock, Jazz FM and more stations that I couldn’t previously receive). There are still occasional drop-outs.

The sound isn’t good enough to make this your main speaker system, but the quality, for the price, is pretty good with the stereo speakers providing a fairly good output across the range — perhaps a tiny bit more bass would have been nice — and there are various EQ presets including Rock, Classical and Flat. It is certainly very listenable in the kitchen or bedroom, which I think are the areas it’s designed for. Comparing it with my JVC micro system from the 90s, this lacked a little bit of power but the clarity of the sound was remarkable. However, when compared to my main separates system in the living room, I found it somewhat anaemic. However, that cost thousands of pounds and many, many hours to set up — this is under 50 (at the time of writing) and set itself up in seconds so it’s a bit of an unfair comparison really! Maximum volume could be a little louder.

Overall, then, I am very impressed with this little radio for the price and would happily recommend it. It earns its five stars.

    Great for the price

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersArrives boxed and packaged well. My first impressions is that I love this radio.

My partner and myself are always listening to the radio. We have one DAB radio already but I’ve now given it to my partner for his man cave as this is perfect for me.

This is a little heavier than I thought it would be. That’s a positive for me as I plan to use in the garden so it’s not gonna blow over easily.

Once arrived I charged it up. Pulled the aerial out and pressed scan. The stations come up in alphabetical order which is easy to find. I’ve not had this long but I’ve already had it on in conservatory, garden, kitchen and bathroom.

As well as a DAB and FM radio this is also a clock and an alarm. Can also be connected via Bluetooth which is handy.

The price- well I have paid more for a radio that has ended up in the man cave. This looks nicer and has carry handle for easy carrying. VERY HAPPY with this Bluetooth radio.

    An excellent DAB Bluetooth radio
