I had my eye on this bin for a while but couldn’t justify the price tag then it dropped by 35 so I bought it as I was fed up with having a recycling box that I had to keep moving and just generally cluttered the kitchen! I have no regrets, both the bin and the recycling compartment have more than enough room in, the carbon filter seems to do a good job of keeping smells at bay. The only thing I have to complain about is the actual Joseph Joseph bin liners are expensive & there’s no cheaper alternatives but a 50 litre normal bin liner fits (just fold the bottom slightly) so I probably won’t be buying them again!

Ideal for those with limited space!

I was wary about the size of this bin and wondered if I should have ordered the bigger one however the amount of rubbish and recycling it holds is very deceiving. It is a great design and takes up less room than my previous bin. I would not hesitate to buy it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery impressed with this. Did a ton of research and this was the best by far. Has 2 compartments, one for household waste with built in filter (no smells) and one for recycling. Stacked design is compact and looks great. Household size is 2 and often host and big enough. Would recommend.

Great looking bin with plenty space for waste and recycling. Expensive for what it is, but you get what you pay for I suppose.

This is such a great bin; it holds a significant amount of rubbish and recycling (for a small household) and is easy to empty. So useful.

    Compact and useful

Used to use two 60 litre bins but after moving home and suddenly having access to a utility room to store the bins, having two was one too many.
The Totem Pop is very expensive for what it is. However, it is very solid. We do have to empty it more often as we now have half the capacity, but it does mean that we don’t have a smelly bin anymore.

This is the most expensive bin I have ever purchased by far! My previous bin cost me just 20. So this is six times the price!
However it does save me a lot of space in my tiny kitchen. I used to have 2 bins. These take up half the space, and looks quite slick.

I bought this on offer but it was still very expensive. A must have if you have underfloor heating. It’s a great product but I think you are paying for the “name”. That said, I am pleased with it and size wise it is perfect.

Emballage top, facile monter.

I love this bin! I spent ages looking at other cheaper bins, I wasn’t really looking to pay so much for a bin! Now, I’m really pleased I decided to go for it, the bin is great! It’s good quality and sturdy. There’s loads of room for separating rubbish, you can split the top compartment using 2 bags, it’s really easy to attach them. The bottom compartment is on wheels so easy to move.

A great bin and worth the money

Having the two bins one on top of the other saves space and not having more than one push button opening hopefully means less to break in future too. The capacity of both bibs is perfectly adequate for a household of 2

Conclusion : je conseille vraiement !

    Me encantan...

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am so obsessed with this bin that I have even named it! I can’t believe that I would be so excited about a bin . I have been searching for ages for a new bin as we have a small kitchen and was struggling with a round pedal bin plus recycling bags at the side of it. It was more expensive than I wanted to pay but is worth every penny as it has seriously transformed my kitchen. I was worried that I wouldn’t fit much in the 40l version but it is amazing how much it actually holds, much more than a round bin . It is so cute that I want to keep it clean and even look forward to emptying it as soon as it needs it to keep it looking good. The lid opens when the silver button is pressed and flips up quite quickly so make sure you have enough height above so that it doesn’t smack into anything and scratch the lid . The bottom bin I use as recycling with 2 carrier bags in it , this part slides open and is on wheels which is not mentioned in any of the blurb , but it is very smooth to open and close . I thought i would just be dragging it along the floor to open it, but was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the castors are. The top section is metal and the bottom section is plastic but they don’t look any different until you touch them , the colour is perfectly matched and the plastic does not cheapen it in any way . The colour is as description says stone , not cream or grey but somewhere in the middle. I have a cream kitchen and it fits in lovely with my colour scheme. I went for the totem pop rather than the totem as it looked more compact and was a lot cheaper . I seriously cannot recommend this bin enough ! The only negative is the price of the bin bags but I am looking to see if there are any cheaper alternatives that will fit. It’s a 10/10 from me .

    Love this bin !

So this is probably the purchase that we’ve spent most time deciding. Sad isn’t it? That it comes down to a bin. But that said we’re very happy with the choice. The large 60L capacity is great, the colour works very well in our kitchen, and it just feels good! So go ahead, don’t dither like we did, this is great!

This bin is perfect! I had a very small space following a kitchen refit, so needed to replace my simple human bins (which were amazing) with something more compact. The Totem is great, chose the “pop” over the other as I didn’t want the food caddy inside (our council doesn’t collect food scraps sadly). Fits perfectly, I knew I’d have to compromise on capacity, old bins were 40 l each, these are 20l each, but I’m still emptying only once per day, and we are a family of 3 with 2 dogs and 2 cats, so all is good. I would recommend for small space and ingenious design. Perfect colour to suit kitchen and the solid design. Perfect all round.

This beautiful piece of design is sturdy, easy to clean, and I love that the bins come out of each section and I can go to the bottle recycling with the bin. Got so many compliments on it in my utility room.

I have absolutely fallen in love with this bin (lol). Our kitchen used to have two large bins, one for recycling and one for general waste. This one has replaced both bins. It looks very stylish and looks great in our kitchen.

The top compartment is for you general waste, its made out of metal and has a filter (that can be replaced) in the lid. An extra filter is included with this purchase. Inside of the top compartment is a removable orange coloured bucket. A little spare out in the corner of this bucket makes it really easy to remove it, although waste sometimes gets stuck in this corner. It has little spare-out hooks for you to hook carrier bags/bin bags around.

The bottom compartment is made out of plastic and has wheels at the bottom. It rolls out from underneath very easily. We have very uneven slate floor tiles but it still rolls out absolutely fine. This compartment also has spare-out so you can hook on either two carrier bags or just use one bin bag.

Recently my local council introduced food waste recycling. One downside to this particular bin is that it hasn’t got a (removable) food waste compartment. I miss it massively. I now have an extra caddy on the side for this bin. If you need a bin for food waste you are better of ordering the Joseph and Joseph Totem Max bin, which is very similar but has a removable food waste caddy in the corner of the top compartment.

I would happily pay a little bit extra to buy a separate food waste caddy that will fit inside of this bin but I can’t seem to find one available. The only option would be to have a separate cady outside of the bin or replace this bin and buy the Totum Max bin.

Joseph Joseph are a brand known for quality and this is the same. It’s a bin that’s also two bins allowing you to separate different types of wastes – for example recyclable items and paper into each bin for easy storage
before moving to the main bin.

As always there is attention to detail and one of the bins has a removable inside that has two of the corners slightly cut out to allow an easy grip. Simple things that make a difference.

It’s pretty simple to use and looks neat with easy wipe down surfaces. There is also a little filter built into the top of the bin for any nasty niffs.

It’s top of the range, but you do pay for this. While it’s undoubtedly a useful bin, it’s also several times more expensive than other bins. You do get a top bin that will save you time but there is a high price for that.

Despite that, it’s great and recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI was more than happy to review this Joseph Joseph waste and recycling combo bin. Although the shape is somewhat odd,and the colour is somewhat indescribable, none of this matters because I love this bin!!
It includes a few Joseph Joseph liner bags but when they run out, I won’t continue to use their custom bags bc they are just too expensive. It also includes an individually wrapped/replaceable odour control filter that slots into the top of the bin.

Initially and compared to the bin we have been using I didn’t think the top waste section would be big enough, but I have been pleasantly surprised how much it actually holds and the bags are easier to remove thanks to the breather vents and doesn’t create that annoying suction that a deeper bin has. It opens by slightly pressing on the lever and is closed again manually.

The bottom bin which we are using for recycling cleanly slots in underneath and is just pulled in and out on rollers and has a removable rim for bin liners. This section also holds a lot of recycling and the bin overall is neat and compact. If you didn’t want to use the bottom bin for recycling bc you already have a good system, it can be used for storage. I think it’s great and would be more than happy to recommend. I wouldn’t call it stylish, but it is very practical, tall and a sturdy bin that does double the job the old bin did and I’m very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving a storage area for recyclables has been something we’ve needed for quite a while as we either have to carry recyclable items straight outside to the council provided recycle bin, or temporarily let them all build up in the kitchen then carry them out at the end of each day. Both options are a bit of an inconvenience so this bin is the perfect solution for this.

It’s split into two compartments top and bottom, I use one for glass and plastics and the other for paper, this really makes recycling so much easier and the grey colour of the bin goes perfect with our kitchen, the bin really does have a great contemporary aesthetic, a great addition to our kitchen.

  46. JanisFarrell says:

A little expensive for most tastes, but an intriguing space-saving design which has a fixed upper metal bin along with a lower plastic one that pulls out on wheels.

The upper bin takes proprietary bin bags, but tbh bags from the supermarkets fit just as well also, so you don’t have to use the manufacturer’s own bags. I use mine as a recycling station, where dry stuff like cardboard & packaging go in the lower pull-out bin, and anything more “wet” like tins & milk bottles go in the bagged upper bin. All very well made btw and looks set to last, so no concerns about durability. I just wonder how many people want to spend a hundred and fifty quid on a bin, that’s all. An easy 4 star nonetheless, that 5th star escaped only because of the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis Joseph Joseph designed Totem Pop Waste Separation and Recycling Units Bin is the perfect answer to handling everyday rubbish and recycling waste with ease. It’s tall space saving design is almost work top height yet it’s slim proportions make it ideal to sit at the side of kitchen base cabinets or by the kitchen, wherever it’s needed most. It’s made of a metal top bin with support, with an orange plastic bucket inner in the top bin and a plastic pull out, on wheels, lower recycling bin. Both bins incorporate plenty of cut out hooks in the edges at the corners and sides designed to hang plastic bags from, if like me, you recycle your old shopping bags and use them as bin liners, then this Totem Pop bin is thoughtfully designed. The lower recycling bin also has a removable rim that aesthetically hides any bin liner/bag handles over hang, making it look so much neater in the kitchen. The colour is a pale grey that would blend in most kitchens. The lid on the top is a manual press, but it has a long metal handle that’s easy to press with an elbow rather than a hand whilst cooking. The bin unit comes with 3 custom fit black liners that are strong with a pull tie handles when full and ready to go out for rubbish collection. It also comes with a charcoal filter that fits into a compartment on the lid to keep odours to a minimum. This bin doesn’t come with a food waste caddy, but for me that was unnecessary as I have council supplied food caddy I already use and keep in my utility room. Most councils supply these caddys free if you ask them for one.

The main top bin holds 60 litres, the bottom one 40 litres, making it an ideal size for most homes. The bottom recycling bin is tall enough to put wine bottles in upright and I really like the design of being able to put 2 carrier bags inside the bin to separate my waste. Both bins have ‘breather’ holes to help remove the bin liners and finger holes at the top to aid lifting out the top bin bucket. All plastic parts are easily washable and the metal parts are wipe clean with a soft cloth. Joseph Joseph recommend changing the filter every 3 months to maintain freshness.

It’s a beautifully designed bin that’s capacious and well made with a long 10 year guarantee for peace of mind, it’s an ‘Intelligent Waste’ design that I really like and absolutely recommend. I hope my review is helpful to you, thank you for reading it.

It takes up a huge amount of space in the kitchen, which I wouldn’t mind if it were a nicer colour. However, the actual colour is very light stone, which makes it look cheap. You would struggle to find any kitchens in that colour. So minus a star for the disappointing washed-out shade.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI like the design of this as it’s simple; two boxes one on top of the other and huge capacity and all metal outer shell. The inner boxes are plastic – but then you want them to be; who wants a rusty bin – and there’s little to go wrong with this robust bin set. The action of the top one which is the only one with a lid is soft and soft close too and the inner bins have little breathe holes which also made putting the bags in easier than they normally are in a solid bin.

The bottom box is on 4 plastic wheels and the movement is smooth. The bins come with the carbon filter for the top box and three bin liners to get you started. I checked the price and it’s 7 quid for 20 so little chance anyone would pay that much it’s too much on my opinion and needs to be less than half that before I’d consider it. They do look good but I prefer to save where I can and all other bin bags are much cheaper than that even ones with drawer strings.

Nonetheless bags aside, this is a clever bin and I like the design as it’s space saving and large capacity. I have bins which each are 30 litre and this is going to save me space in terms of its square rather than rectangular so instead of two wide bins I have only one that width but deeper. It’s really a case of your kitchen situation. Mine is a poky galley!!

Mostly metal outer and plastic inner robust and clever bi
