Very clear rear and front pictures and the option to switch the front camera to a rear view to assist with parking. Super easy to view recorded footage on other devices too

If you can overcome the price, (there are good dash cam.’s on the market cheaper), it has everything you could need. Alexa, pretty good night vision, SOS etc etc

I enthusiastically bought a Nextbase 422 Dashcam, polarIsing filter with hardware kit from Amazon. Nextbase 422 was easy to set up. Looked for installers and found most large high street retailers reluctant to install unless they supplied the Dashcam. Plenty of helpful local company’s out there that can professionally hardwire install the front Dashcam for 60 approx. You can also use the power point in your car. Like the parking feature that takes a record if the car is hit in a car park. Also, you can link a rear facing camera. Cost wise by buying from Amazon and having it installed by an independent service provider saved about 60 when comparing to a well known high street retaile

Awesome camera – very easy and well written camera software and user interface. The phone software is equally impressive , and the data collected is just incredible . Good length of power cable . All in all a brilliant dash cam .

Peace of mind while on the road, not only video of driving and other vehicle behaviour. When played back the sat nav link gives time, location and speed on display, along with high quality picture, nextbase app is very good. Alexa tuned in to Bluetooth in car as a bonus, cannot fault this camera for the price. Delivery was on time, no issues.

Produces very good images but should be easier to set up. The Alexa function is well-nigh impossible.

The camera itself is nice – compact, easy to fit and use, seems good quality. However, I chose this model so that I can use the rear-view telephoto lens add-on camera to save the hassle of fitting a separate rear camera. I wonder if the combination is pushing the capabilities of the camera system to the limits and maybe this is why some people are reporting problems. Some findings after a couple of weeks use are:
    – Like most people I tried with a non-Nextbase memory card, a San Disk type 10 which should be in spec for the camera. However, I had issues with accessing files through the phone app, downloading files, and the GPS not working. In the end I gave in and bought a 64G Nextbase card.
    – My route to work includes a bumpy pot-holed road and I found almost all recordings were marked as protected for that section, which made the camera stop recording when the card was full. Changing the sensitivity option setting solved this.
    – I found that the GPS data stopped being recorded when the card was full. Formatting the card solved the problem until it filled up again. I wonder if the additional effort for the software of deleting files to over-write them, combined with the need to record from both cameras, pushes the system to the limit and it manages this by stopping recording the metadata?
    – I tried turning off recording of the mirrored low resolution files but then its almost impossible to view the files on the Nextbase phone app as there are no thumbnails.
    – I tried changing the front main camera resolution from the default 1440p to 1080p. This seems to solve the problem, GPS data is recorded reliably, and the files are quicker and smaller to download to the phone app. Viewing in the phone app shows a very similar quality image in 1080p to 1440p.
    – Copy the files to a computer and view using the computer systems native MP4 player, and the quality at 1080p is still good enough to easily read the number plates of passing cars, and you can zoom the image as well. Much better than viewing in the Nextbase app, though you don’t see the GPS data in this case.
    – So, maybe not the ultimate camera on the market but if you want rear view without a separate camera it seems to be the only choice, and so far I’ve found it works very well. The image quality, even at 1080p, when viewed outside the Nextbase app, is easily as good as any you see in dashcam videos on YouTube and elsewhere.

This was very easy to fit, the images are very clear. This is the first dashcam that I have purchased with a rear view camera, the picture quality is very good, the rear camera was easy to fit too. It’s unobtrusive on the windscreen as is the rear camera, and does everything I expect from a next base purchase.

The camera is great – and once I had the Nextbase SD card installed it worked a treat.
With the other card the camera was affected really badly. I phoned the support number given in the box and guys at Nextabse were fantastic. They tried everything they could think of, finally suggesting – ‘let’s just try it without the SD card. Obviously it could record, but suddenly everything else worked as expected. I tried for a refund on the SD card that didn’t work, but was told it was NOT possible.

Fantastic camera, fantastic support and help from Nextbase, but I’m still miffed that I have a useless SD card that I can’t get a refund on.

Great camera;s and well worth the money. one of the main selling features for me was the use of that magnetic mount for ease of removal.
I also like the next-base software though not all options are available on the lower spec cameras so be careful of this.

I have had the camera for a few weeks now there are a couple of slight niggles I have with it but it would not stop me from recommending It to others.

!, Even with the recording resolution set to 1440 (max setting on the 422) it still gives a grainy image when you try and zoom in on a moving vehicle coming the other way.
2, (See photo) the resistor in the power lead is situated close to where it connects to the camera so because of the weight it keeps pulling the lead down and into the line of sight which is annoying.

All in all I do rate this camera and if you do need help the support team are easy to contact and are very helpful so if you are looking for a dashcam I would definately give this one a go.

    Good little dashcam

I chose this dashcam because it is a Which best buy. Their tests found it to be superior to more expensive ones. The dashcam has not been a disappointment and instructions are available on line and also related software for recording and updating. The supplied wiring is adequate but untidy especially if you have a satnav running at the same time. I ordered the hard wire kit which is very tidy and plugs directly into the fuse box.

Main reason I got this was that it’s quite small, not very noticeable compared to others. The holder is quite snug and from a drivers point of view, I can’t see it as the rear mirror hides it it from view. Picture and sound quality are good, lots of features and video can be downloaded to your phone if needed. The rear camera again is quite small, good video quality. I needed to buy a better quality SD card, it didn’t like the one I used in my old dashcam.

I recommend having someone install it as its very frustrating to do yourself (if you use 12V theres tons of wire to hide as i had to) if you arent sure what you are doing. Hard wiring is an option but you require the kit to do that ( at extra expense). But other than that i cant fault i

My cheap dash cam stopped working, and the picture quality was not good. I researched for one with better functions and with GPS. I found Nextbase to offer what I wanted at a good price. I chose the 422GW ( the 322GW is cheaper and another good option) and I was not disappointed. Fitting in the car was straight forward even a tool provided to hide the cable in the roof lining.
It’s working fine, although I had to download the manual for it and have still to complete setting up all the functions.

Brought this product as I didn’t wont a cheap camera as there always break within weeks of using them. On first impression easy to install and set up, dosent come with SD card so had to buy my own. Did my research about getting the right type so brought a equivalent. In the end this caused problems for the camera as it kept freezing and wonted recorded. So after further investigation brought a nextbase SD card which was more expensive but camera works fine now. Overall happy with the camera.

All arrived ahead of time and with good instructions and the best bity being the option for suction or stick on windscreen location. This allows me to remove from one car and use in another by the 12v socket. The main car being hard wired. I am really impressed with the value for money as it appears well made and solid.

This is my second Nextbase dash cam, a fault with my previous one meant it had stopped recording to the SD card, so I decided to bite the bullet and replace it.

    First, the positives:

    – Comes with a choice of holders – either a suction cup, or a sticky pad.
    – Compatible with my existing car kit, so I didn’t have to take out the wiring and reinstall it or anything.
    – The mounting is a bit less obtrusive than my previous one.
    – The touch screen is handy – if you need to take a still photo on the road, you just have to tap the touchscreen and it takes a photo. Quick and easy to do.

The one negative I find is with the Bluetooth/Wifi connection. The idea of being able to just download a video or photo straight to my phone in the event of an accident really appealed to me, but I find the connection very hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it sits there trying to connect (the phone within half a meter of the camera) and never seems to make it.

Really nice dash cam. The footage from the front camera is excellent. Shame that the rear is not the same resolution. Just make sure you buy a fast micro SD card for it. I would say a write speed of at least 50 MB/s. If not, the dash cam will struggle to ease and write to the card once it is full.
The one downside I have is with the phone app. It’s sooooo sloooowww to connect and transfer data. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and it’s pretty unusable. Maybe it needs faster WiFi hardware?

Easy to install – the suction pad has retained the unit in place without coming off in the 6 months I’ve owned this. Straightforward to set up and constant recording seems no problem, without formatting issues of the SD card that some have mentioned.I haven’t had to use any footage (thankfully), so can’t really comment on clarity etc, but it is a good sharp image on the screen of the unit, although it seems quite to make objects look farther away than they actually are.

I’ve had other brands of dashcam but my two recent upgrades have been Nextbase dashcams and so far Nextbase is my favourite brand. I prefer to hardwire in the dashcams so installation is a little slower than just plugging into the cigarette socket. Dashcam footage is acceptable given the size of the image sensor. Don’t expect ultra clear and sharp images at speed or in poor light. Overall dashcams are useful to have in the event of an accident or a claim.

Got the 422GW set up with a rear camera too. Work great! Glad I bought them.
If I had to pick fault with it; it triggers a video save if passengers close the door too hard, and to download videos from it via Bluetooth takes ages. But these are small issues and I get around it by putting the card into my laptop if I want to download any footage, and formatting the card before putting it back in the camera to delete the few videos of doors closing.

Not disappointed. And would recommend this camera to a friend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought the 422GW and rear cam to replace the 512GW and rear cam. You get what you pay for as they say as there are cheaper versions out there. Big improvements on removing the front and rear cameras from their screen holds with magnetic helping especially as the rear camera can now be cleanly removed. Gripes are that you only know the U1 micro SD which worked in the 512 isn’t suitable for the 2 series AFTER YOU TURN IT ON. No explicit guidance on Amazon or in the Nextbase pamphlet. Additionally the noted wait for U3 card probably is part of the reason of so many initial resets.

At first the GPS and speed didnt work since the GPS is in the base for the camera. Talked to the support team at Nextbase.uk and they sent a new one directly (very good support). the issue was that they sent the wrong one so now i am still waiting for the correct base WITH GPS support.
SD Card – i didnt check the spec completely so i ordered a SD card with too low spec – made the camera restart all the time (or at least frequently). Since i am a developer myself i would Nextbase to add some error handling and not just restarting the camera – should be simple from my view.
With the new SD card it works fine (but i have still not tried the GPS)

Very good dashcam. Excellent pictures, built in telemetry on play back, all the good techy things. Only gripe is that the app is not very intuitive or smooth to use, and you have to ‘join’ the WiFi network every time rather than automatically joining (like my phone does with every router I use). Good safeguarding. Does what it’s supposed to. Maybe the App will get an update…

This is my second Nextbase dashcam, I only changed it because I had already purchased the rear camera and it did not fit my other model. Price is good, picture quality is good, the app that you can use with the camera is sometimes hit or miss, maybe down to Bluetooth connection. I would recommend this model to anyone wanting to invest in a Dashcam

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis camera is very nice quality. The mounting bracket is magnetic and works very well, it holds the camera very firmly and is so much better than the cheap thin plastic swivel mounts I’ve had on previous dash cams. The instructions for fitting were clear and they even supply a trim lever tool to help you to hide the cables behind trims when fitting which I found very useful.
The rear window camera is very compact and is also on a magntic mount which works very well. The quality of the recorded footage is very good and clear, and this dash cam has added features such as wifi,Bluetooth, gps, emergency services S.O.S. alert parking mode plus others. One feature this camera has is Alexa compatability, although after trying to set it up for a while, I found this feature has not been executed very well and as many other reviews state is a bit of a waste of time, as I just couldn’t get it to work properly.
Other than the Alexa problem, this camera meets all my dash cam needs. I purchased a hard wire kit separately and it is connected direct to my car’s fuse box so I don’t have to have a cable plugged into my lighter socket.
I would recommend Nextbase dash cams as they have plenty of useable features, are very well made and are reasonably easy to install. Price wise they are more expensive than other less well known makes but the quality of the camera and accessories justify spending that bit more for a well made set up. It is far superior to the Toguardset up I had before.

I have had a couple of cheap cameras in the past which all fail eventually. Decided on this one because of the name and also because it was easy to dismount when parking or leaving in the hot sun (which was the cause of the last camera to fail).

Easy to mount with the suction cup or the adhesive pad, depends on t=your requrements.

The app needs work though, it works but is not presented well, far too fussy and should have a menu rather then cramming everything on one screen.

Excellent product. I also have the plug in rear view camera, not the corded one.
It works well, runs off accessory socket. Plug in and forget it’s there.
    Never missed a beat.
Managed to site on screen so that the rear view camera sits between the sun visor and mirror and sees between the seat headreasts, whilst the main camera is behind the visor when down.

Golden Review Award: 48 From Our UsersFinally had one of these fitted to the wife’s car, very impressed with the image quality. I’ve been thinking about getting one of these for my work vehicle, but thought the wife’s car would be better suited, looked at the various units and purchased this one. Then I bought the 312GW for mine, the difference in screen quality is amazing. The 422 is a better model by miles. Don’t scrimp, buy a decent one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m pretty useless with technology but this was easy to set-up, install and operate and seems to work fine (for the few weeks I’ve had it). The advice that it requires a data card is not very prominent in the text and although that might be obvious to people with more experience, to me it was annoying not to make it clear at the time of purchase.

Easy to fit – if you don’t mind an odd cable hanging from mirror. As for new cars (2015 onward) roof lining are glued in and could get damaged effecting a good parking place for cable..! Has a handy tool for easier moved liners/capping. If you’ve a clean windscreen – will pick-up detail on number plates to vehicles, which maybe needed..!
An issue when connecting ‘rear camera’, it seems not to allow on screen controls, with it disconnected on screen control works but also when connected seems to move ‘Screen Saver’ to On. Which can heat screen up when on long journeys. You must download recorded runs if you wish to save, otherwise it auto over-writes with new recording.

Brought this camera to repalce the nextbase 312. I have to say I’m not disappointed at all. Quality of the video and audio is excellent. The setup was simple if you’re a bit of a DIY person and able to tuck the wires out the way. I opted for the additional rear view camera as I liked the way it syncs to the front camera. Again the quality of the video on this is almost as good as the front camera. The app is easy to set up and download footage.

Good picture quality but I had some trouble connecting to the phone app to start with. I reset and reinstalled everything and now it works fine. Not too sure about the Alexa function yet, I need to spend a bit of time faffing with it, it seems a bit hit and miss at the moment. Check out some youtube videos on how to set it up.

Having a dash cam is essential in todays driving scene. Careless driving is causing more accidents and having reliable evidence when claiming compensation is now necessary. It is unobtrusive and takes up very little room on the windscreen. The video screen is a decent size and there is a snapshot of the rearview camera on the screen, or you can just have the rear view camera if you require.

The only issue I have with this camera is that it tells me the battery is about to run even after I have done a long run. I am not sure whether this is the Nextbase camera or an installation fault, but I will endeavour to find out.

Not a bad set up overall.
Shame it doesn’t come with a usb plug instead of cigarette lighter socket on the long lead . Initially it kept turning off and on but I think this was due to me buying a non manufacturer’s longer lead with USB connector to power the camera.
Alexa very rarely connects to phone so save yourself a fiver and get the next model down.
The hardwire kit was easy to install and looks tidy and the suction mount also works a treat.
Haven’t actually viewed any footage on p.c. yet so can comment on video quality .
All in all looks tidy when installed properly and it just sits there on its own doing its business out of site.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a preliminary review. I received the camera yesterday along with the hardwire kit and rear facing cabin addon. Relatively easy to set up the camera, a lot more difficult to integrate with the Nextbase Android App and I have not been able to get camera’s Alexa integration to work as the Alexa app doesn’t find the camera so I can’t even start the set up.

Picture quality at 1440 and 30 FPS is decent and the camera turns on an off with the car(I am using the power port connector for now). Seems to be securely mounted to the windshield with the suction cup. I downloaded the Nextbase player and viewed a view taken on my initial drive. Rock steady despite my Jeep Wrangler bouncing around the “paved” roads in Boise! With the Player, you see a multipane window showing the video, speed, direction and a Google Map with the route overlayed. Nice I thought.

So far seems ok for the real purpose, recording the idiots around me as I drive. As to Alexa, don’t buy it to put it in your car; do the Echo Auto instead. Maybe if Amazon/Nextbase get together and release a Nextbase Dash Cam skill Alexa might work better but right now its just ‘vaporware”.

Golden Review Award: 52 From Our UsersI have been using this camera for a few days now. Luckily no accidents, the footage is good and the night vision works well.

I installed the mount using the sticky pad on the windscreen just behind the mirror. I’ll add to this more comprehensively once I have used for longer.

Golden Review Award: 67 From Our UsersBought this as peace of mind before a long European Trip. It worked well except for the suction mount (nearly got launched out of the eurostar). The sticky pad installation was far more suitable and it’s inconspicuous behind the rear view mirror.

Hopefully I’ll never have cause to use it in anger, but it seems good so far. Check the memory card requirements as it’s quite selective. It also only appears to pair with a single phone at a time which is a little annoying but liveable.

Will try and update once I’ve used it a little more.
