Heavy, so the box it was packed in disintegrated in transit and was delivered with very little of the packaging in tacked. Anvil survived a little worse for ware but all in one piece albeit with a few scratches.

After reading the reviews I was expecting real problems with the delivery, but after one small hiccup, it was delivered just a day later than planned by two burly men in a van. Its worth saying watch your back when lifting this about.

It’s a fairly hard lump of metal to bash other lumps of metal against. What could go wrong?

For its size a good little Anvil. I have it mounted on a Sycamore log to gain the height and have had no issues with it as yet. Mainly I have used it so far for basic forging and pattern welding.

I will be making some tools for use in the Hardy hole and also a holdfast in the next few weeks but envisage little problems with this having taken away the manufacturing burrs. Hardy Hole is 25mm as its the Pritchel Hole

anvil decent for the most part got a bunch of chips and the round hole is unusable but that second statement anyone can tell by looking at the thing so I’m telling you nothing new. What might be of use however that my 60kg anvil the drivers refused to deliver for over a week then attempted to return to sending stating I refused it (I did not) I called and waited 4 days for call backs but no answer so I went to the depo where the tracking said it was (waiting for return). Due to its weight they would of never attempted to deliver it (because its unweight to not need pallet to get to the depo but to heavy to be delivered by one person on a ups van? go figure that one out cause I cant.) However due to its weight the return also would of took abnormally long which is why I was still able to pick it up. So Once it is at your local depo I recommend just going to pick it up in person don’t bother with the customer service they wont help and the “refused the package” I think is their attempt to get out of contract by blaming the purchaser. (this isn’t why I rated it 4 stars that’s just the finish of the forge scale and chip marks meaning it needs about 2-4 hours of good clean up)

So when I purchased this anvil I intented to get it with the 1in squared hardy hole has my previous anvil was too small, when it arrived the hardy hole was even smaller and was circular, the other hole is big enough and I’ll have to reshape the tools to fit it but besides from that a pretty good anvil, just abit too heavy for one person xD

This anvil is my first steel anvil & it is perfec for my needs..it’s a major step up from my 55lb cast iron one.. rebound is immense by comparison so work is reduced..
Recommended as a great starter anvil

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI am so pleased with this anvil, which I intend to use for making knives & small items. I was going to get the 30 kg model, which to be frank would too far heavy to move around, like I have to, 20kg is perfect, does not jump around like my 10kg railtrack anvil.
It is cast steel, NOT inferior cast iron as it says in the opening description, but then later says it is cast steel, which it is.
I believe that at this price point you would not get better, I have a cast iron anvil & it is totally different in quality from this one.
There is a very reasonable bounce with this anvil and it does ring when struck, so is of a good material
It has a small sqare Hardy hole & a Pritchel hole as well, which are really useful. The surface is ground flat & is very hard, though the edges need rounding off as they really are too sharp, the horn is a useable size though will require smoothing off somewhat as it is quite rough. There is not cutting table on the anvil, so in my case I will use a plate of mild steel on the face of the anvil. The anvil stands four square & solid on its substantial feet, no rocking around. I have always preffered this type of European style anvil rather than the traditional London pattern, there seem to be more usefull edges, some you can leave sharp if required. I looked at second hand they were mostly overpriced & usually with sway back damage to the working face on the anvil. There are lots of videos online regarding this make of anvil which is Accacio, which I believe is Italian for steel, though made in China I think. Could have been better wrapped for transportation, yes you could damage a anvil! There was no hammer as promised, but it would have been thrown away anyhow. I would not hesitate to buy this anvil again, I am so impressed. Just make sure you are getting the right size for you, these things are really heavy! Good luck, keep safe.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHaven’t used it yet as my forge is still in transit but it looks good and sturdy. 6 days delivery to Ireland and free delivery which was a bonus considering the weight factor. Hardy hole is properly shaped and sized which I was warned is a common defect in budget anvils. Has a nice weight at 30kg, just about portable. All in all happy with it as I see it, time will tell how it stands up to abuse
