I am very happy to have this thermometer for my 150 g reef tank. I used few of those cheap thermometers that lasts only few months. Gives accurate temperature. I can monitor from anywhere in the world.

I love getting so many readings for my greenhouse. Setup up is easy with the SmartLife app, and I can even access readings via Alexa. It shows temperature and humidity plus illumination levels, which is essential for a greenhouse. It can measure ambient temperatures YT also comes with a probe.

It has a rechargeable battery, but it doesn’t last a whole day, so it either has to constantly be recharged or be plugged in. I’m using in my greenhouse so has to add an extension cord to be able to use this. There are lots of other devices that do the same thing, except for the probe, that don’t have to be plugged in.

This device is great if you need the probe and can easily keep plugged in. I also like using it around the garden manually, particularly to see how much sunlight different areas are receiving.

Great sensor the probe has good length to it as well so you could put it outside the grow tent to get quick stats

This is a pretty good tool to add automation based on temperature, which is my main interest. It also displays the current temperature and humidity clearly, albeit with no manual controls to adjust things without an app. The nice thing about that is that this works with generic apps like Tuya, so it can be added to your setup without downloading anything new. While it could be more accurate and quick to update, for general use, it is nice.

We have this fitted just near our front door in our main entrance hallway so we can just have an idea of the weather and helps us decide if we need to take a coat out with us or not that day.
It was simple and straightforward to set up and installing wasn’t too bad either.
The screen could be improved for better viewing but it is quite accurate too.
The unit itself is good quality made and looks and feels like it is built to last some time maybe even years, hopefully.

This provides a perfect solution to my need to monitor the temperature of a garage refrigerator, so I’m pretty happy. However, you might experience some frustration setting it up with the app, so maybe I can help there.

    First, what’s in the box?
The temperature unit (3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ x 15/16″), (1) remote temperature sensor probe (41″ long), (1) USB-A to micro-USB CABLE for power (38″ long), (1) rear mounting plate for wall mounting, (2) wood screws (3/4″ long), and (2) sheet rock anchors for the screws. Note that there isn’t a USB 5-volt power cube included, which you must supply. Most USB power cubes have an output of 5V @ 1 or 2 Amps, but I had a rather worthless one that puts out 5V @ 100mA which is powering the device just fine.

The display is brightly backlit (white figures on blue background) and the backlight can be turned off with a single press of teh “Setup” button inside the back recess of the display.

The manual also indicates that the remote sensor probe can be placed under water in an aquarium.

    How to install?
The backing plate is meant to be screwed or adhered to a vertical surface, and has directional pegs that fit into recesses on the back of the sensor. ** Make sure to note the tiny little indented “up arrow” on the wall side of the backing plate and mount it correctly, it won’t work if mounted upside down, and the manual doesn’t mention this.

It’s easy to clip the device onto the backing plate. And, since the sensor display is almost an inch deep, it sits on a flat surface pretty well, as long as the power or remote sensor probes are stowed, or secured (if you’re using them).

    Measuring ranges and accuracy:
The user instructions show the following ranges and accuracy values:
    Current requirement: 30mA
    Temperature range: -19C to 60C (-2.2F to 140F)
    — Note that the manual indicates the range in degrees F next to the Celsius range and does a really bad job with the conversion from Celsius to Fahrenheit. The manual states the range in degrees F as “28.5F to 42.8F”. I did the correct conversion for you above.
    Temperature accuracy: +/- 0.3C (0.5F)
    Humidity range: 0 – 100%
    Humidity accuracy +/- 2%

    Power vs battery
A switch inside the device, accessible by removing the backing plate, selects either the power source as either the internal battery or the USB power supply. The internal rechargeable battery is pretty limited in use since it will only last 4 to 6 hours before dying. The manual states it will function for battery backup in case of power failure.

Temperature calibration of the remote probe:
Plugging in the remote probe requires it to be calibrated. The calibration process is a few steps.
    1) Power the sensor and plug in the remote probe.
    2) Allow the sensor and attached probe to sit in the same environment for 30 minutes.
    3) Start calibration by pressing the “Setup” button accessible inside the back cover opening 3 times (fast- I did it too slowly at first and nothing happened).
The sensor will go through calibration, adjusting the remote probe reading to agree with the internal temperature/humidty reading.

    The app:
The manual has a QR code for two apps you can use to control the sensor: Tuya Smart or Smart Life. I never trust any URL that takes me to an app download, but you’ll find both apps available in the Google Play Store, and the Apple App Store. The apple iOS versions of the apps state that they work for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

I downloaded Smart Life from the Google Play Store for installation on my Samsung Android phone. I don’t have devices of either type in my house, so I picked Smart Life since it’s rated higher in the Play Store than Tuya Smart.

Now following the instructions in the manual to pair the sensor with the app was a little frustrating. Here is the approach to setup, which might help with some inconsistencies between the manual’s instructions and the app:

    1) Download the app and create a login account. Click on “Add Device”.

    2) Select the kind of device you’ll be adding to the app.
    a) Scroll down through the list presented in the app, select “Sensors”
    b) Select the device type labeled “Temperature and Humidity Sensor BLE”
NOTE: The manual shows an illustration that labels the device type as “Temperature and Humidity Sensor BT”. Note that the app labels this “BLE” and the manual labels it “BT”, both meaning “Bluetooth”.
NOTE: The process here is to establish connection with the sensor via Bluetooth first, and then the app will allow the sensor to search for and connect to your wireless network.

    3) Plug in the sensor to power it up. It will beep and the display does some boot up gyrations.

    4) At this point, the app (and the manual will expect you to “confirm that the indicator is blinking rapidly.”
NOTE: The “indicator” is a green LED in the upper right side of the sensor. If you have already plugged the sensor in before going through the setup, it won’t appear again when you try this process. To reset the sensor and put it back into Bluetooth pairing mode, press the “Setup” button inside the back cover recess for 6 seconds. The sensor will beep and the sensor will go into Bluetooth pairing/discovery mode.

    5) Open your Bluetooth menu on your device and look for a new device shown as “TY”. Pair with this device.

    6) Continue setting up in the app (time and date of the sensor display appears to be automatically set through the app, based on your phone’s time and date, then appears to remain accurate even when the sensor is powered down).

    7) If you want to query the sensor with an Assistant, you have the choice of Google Assistant or Alexa. I chose Alexa, and the app helps you go through that process.

    8) Finally, use the app to set alarms, and change the name of the device (I changed mine from “Temperature and Humidity Sensor” to “Freezer”.
NOTE: I also had to go to the Alexa app and change the sensor’s name there in order to simply say “Alexa, what’s the temperature of the freezer?”

One last mention about the app- many reports and graphs are available for display and sharing, showing the data collected over time, which is nice for knowing what’s been going on with your sensor.

So far, so good. This sensor really works well for all my remote and in-situ monitoring of my freezer, and I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up another one for other monitoring needs.

I’ve had nothing but trouble with Tuya/SmartLife sensors in the past and was looking for something that can sense light, temperature and humidity for some home automation.

These work perfectly, add to the smartlife app and showing up straight away with the Tuya integration, all three sensors work perfectly, though they do take a few seconds to update.

Battery or USB power was ideal for where I was using these and look forward to getting more of them!

Have this in my greenhouse. Sadly no wifi there, but to test the capabilities I have connected it at home. Work all right, does send a notification if the temperature is out of my set limit. As it is in my greenhouse with no wifi, I have lost this ability. But not a problem, as I can still see the greenhouse temperature chart on the app once I connect it to my phone’s wifi. I believe it is accuse within 0.5 to 1 degree. But that is nothing in the greenhouse. Humidity sensor is accurate too.

Had to connect it to a solar power bank, as it only has backup battery, that does not last. With the probe I can see the soil temperature, as well as the air temperature.

A good item if you want to be checking the temperature constantly, or have a backlog.

Another great addition to the smartlife family.

This device give you the ability to set routines based on temperature and or humidity.

This has been thrown in my bedroom with great success. The heating and cooling systems are automated on a smartlife wifi timer, however its quite dumb being based on time only. With this, if the temp greats to a threshold, It turns on the aircon, If it gets too cold. It runs off and turns on an electric heater.

Pairing was simple. just install the app if you don’t already have it and follow the on screen instruction.

The battery life on this isn’t the best but we its always in a fixed installation I’ve plugged it into a USB charger and never had an issue with it.

    Great little device

This is a great hygrometer with lots of extras. The screen is backlit and as well as accurately displaying the humidity, it shows the current temperature, date, time and battery life. You can charge it by USB or use a regular battery. You can pair it to your phone and set up notifications so if it drops below or rises above the thresholds you set, you’ll get an alert. This is really handy for greenhouses or wine cellars say. Impressive.

This sensor has a lot going for it but I just think that it is really let down by the battery life. I don’t think that with something like this you want to be charging it every three or so days. I have checked this with other hydrometers and thermometers and found that this is pretty accurate, sometimes it is one or so degrees out but never more than that. I do like it and will continue to use it, but no doubt I will also continue to get frustrated by it running out of battery.

What an excellent product this is! I love just how universal and versatile this WiFi Hygrometer thermometer sensor is. It is so easy to set-up and more importantly it is very fast at reporting data that it finds regarding humidity, temperature and more! This product is powered via USB charge which is included in the box. The battery life isn’t the strongest attribute of this product but it can continue to work when being charged so I personally have been charging it once every 3 days and have had no issues thus far. To set-up, you’d need to download the Tuya app and connect the device via the App. It is very to do and took no longer than 5 minutes for me.

I love how intuitive the dashboard on the app is and how easy it is to integrate the humidity and temperature results into your lifestyle. I set up the alerts which is ideal as I don’t need to check the app every hour for air quality. If the quality goes off balance or in the red, I’ll be prompted with notifications to make the relevant changes to improve it. The product works in real time with no delays so very good quality and build in my opinion. It is also well priced and works perfectly. I love that it even comes with a waterproof probe that can be used for monitoring soil too, perfect for gardener! 5 stars!

Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂

Ordered this for my grow tent so I can keep an eye on temp and humidity for my mushrooms. So far…I think it works fairly well. It was easy to set up and connect the app to my phone. I’m just not sure if the humidity and light measurements are right. I had a humidifier on high and the tent closed and the humidity never got over 60% even though the whole tent was full of mist and the fan on the ceiling was dripping water. Also I don’t think the light reading works seeing as I have a plant light on the brightest setting and it still only shows a brightness of 1 or 2

This temperature and humidity sensor seems pretty accurate as I compared it to the temp gauge on my A/C unit in the same room. It was super easy to set up and link to the WiFi app as well. I already have a few Tuya products so I just opened the app and added this device. Then I was able to set up the alarm settings for temperature high and low when I will want an alarm notification sent to me when my hydroponic growing room need supplemental heating or cooling throughout the year.

I did not mount it on the all, I just have it laying on a shelf in the grow room and the external probe is inserted and just hanging there away from direct like or fans so it will read the temp and humidity accurately.

One thing I noticed on the screen that is not mentioned in the product details (or I somehow missed it) is the sun gauge readings. It shows the % value of the light in the place where the sensor is located. I moved it under the grow lights near the plants to see what it showed as the regular room away from any of the lights was showing 36% but right by the plants under the grow lights it showed 95-100% sunlight. I think that is cool since my plants are all doing well and seem to be receiving the right amount of light, so I can use this to make sure new grow lights that I install in this room or over new plants I can use this to compare the amount of sunlight as compared to my lights that I know are set up correct.

I will be ordering another one for other areas of the house that I need to monitor the temp and humidity settings in, such as the room where I house my pet rats. I like to make sure their temperature stays within a certain range and if I am not at home it will be valuable to see the temp in the room from anywhere, then turn on certain other devices depending on that temperature reading.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWiFi Hygrometer Thermometer Sensor with External Probe,Wireless Digital Temperature and Humidity …..

This little unit comes in a nice retail box, complete with the unit are the external temperature sensor (on about 1m of cable), a Micro-USB charge cable (just under 1m), a couple of screws and wall plugs and small multi-lingual manual.

Setup is easy due to the fact it uses the ‘SmartLife’ app which I have already installed for several other devices in my home. Adding this to the list was simple and instructions were easy to follow and accurate this involved using my mobile phone with Bluetooth to set the unit to my home Wi-Fi where it connected straight away.

When using the external sensor, there is a calibration routine to do, but this is not mandatory, and it is within of a degree difference between the internal and external sensors. The front of the device has a large backlit (in blue) white LCD display which shows temperature, humidity, light level (as a percentage), time and date, Wi-Fi signal and battery level.

There is a built-in alarm, you can set high and low levels in the ‘SmartLife’ app, and even get these alarms to control other home automated devices, you can also change the temperature scale and even turn the backlight off from the app.

Overall, a very nice, neat, and functional unit however there are a few things that niggle me. The first is that when you plug the external temperature sensor in, it disables the internal one. I was under the impression that you could monitor both outside AND inside temperatures at the same time, but this is a case of OR not AND, a little disappointing. The second niggle I have is the display, it’s one of those that if you don’t get your head at the right angle, you either see nothing or a strange negative image.

Not a bad little unit, pity it disable the internal sensor when you plug in the external one.

    Indoor OR outdoor, not both!

The Hygrometer Thermometer Sensor is a good product for measuring temperature, humidity, or light intensity as long as it can access Wi-Fi. But what if you don’t have Wi-Fi access or can’t be near it (Bluetooth distance away)? Then this wouldn’t be the product for you; instead, I would recommend MarCELL, also sold on Amazon and would use a cellular network. For all other contexts, this would do the job. It even comes with a probe that can be put in a container, such as a refrigerator.

This WiFi Hygrometer Thermometer Sensor with External Probe arrived nicely packed with user guide.

It is easy and fast to setup by scanning QR code and downloading an app on the mobile phone.
It works well with Tuya app which I had already installed.

Unit looks and feels well made from a good quality materials.

I found it pretty accurate when compared with my other sensor.

I like that it is wireless, unfortunately doesn’t last long on a full charge, luckily it can be powered via USB.

    Unit is easy to use.
I like that it has a real-time sync updates, what is very helpful for me.

This sensor is suitable for many applications.

A waterproof probe allows you to connect it to an external temperature sensor and monitor the temperature of reptile tanks, humidors, fish tanks and more.
With real-time updates, you get updated information every second and it works very well and is useful for constant readings.
The backlight feature helps you read from the sensor easily and it can be turned off or on through the app or simply by the button.
Not to forget that there is a humidity sensor next to a temperature sensor which can be useful in many spaces and rooms such as warehouses, different types of systems, environments or wherever humidity sensor is required.
The sensor itself can be installed by using different methods such as sticking it to a smooth flat surface, hanging it on the wall or simply placing it on the desk next to you.
Readings can be easily switched between C and F so the readings are more suitable to you.

Overall, pretty useful and accurate sensor with many applications and uses.

I have a number of devices to read temperature and humidity around the house as I unfortunately have quite a damp house so like to keep track as well as knowing the temperature.
Compared to the others I have this is one of the best.

Setting up was reasonably easy. You download the APP from the QR code and connect it to your WI-Fi. And away it goes.
It reads your temperature,, humidity, light brightness and gives the time and date.
If you do not link it to the APP on the phone it will not give you the time and date and the temperature will remain in Fahrenheit and you cannot change it to Celsius. So it is a good practise to do so if you want the full benefits.

The readout is nice and bright so easy to read though the display is relitivly small. You wont read it from across the room unless you have good eyesight.

It is powered by a cable provided that can plug into a standard USB slot.

This also comes with another cable sensor you can plus in that you can place in things like water or soil to get an accurate temperature reading. I have not tested this as I do not have a garden but it seems like it would be very useful for gardeners.

Overall I am very happy with this.

The unit is supplied with a micro-B USB power cable, an external probe, fixing screws and wall plugs, and a good set of instructions. The unit is powered by the micro-B USB port and there is a small backup battery in the unit which gives a claimed 4 hours of power. The unit can be used stand-alone or an external probe can be connected, the unit then shows the temperature and humidity from the probe. The unit can be mounted with a small plate at the back, screws and wall plugs are supplied, and the unit just clips on. The plate covers an on-off switch and a reset button. Holding the reset button down puts the unit into sync mode and the unit can be then connected to the Tuya app, where it is recognised as a wifi hygrometer thermometer with a small photo of the unit and a display of temperature, humidity and luminance; the unit also syncs to the time and date. The app compiles a log of the temperature, humidity and luminance over time; (the sample rate can be adjusted). Alarms can be set for upper and lower temperature and humidity, the unit will sound and push notifications sent to a phone. Turning off the backlight with the “Switch” function from the app also turns off the screen, so the unit is completely blank, readout is then through the app (there isn’t a “wake-up” button on the unit). The unit is smartly made and works as it should.

    Smart unit that works well

This is a nice bit of kit. The initial set up was bit fiddly, but eventually got it working. It reports humidity, temperature, light intensity and date and time on the sensor box, but only the first three on the app.
Initially I could only get the sensor to work when it was plugged in. However, there is a battery switch behind the panel on the back. The screen on the sensor can be switched on and off in the app.
It’s now in the summerhouse, a fair bit away from the main wi-fi hub so we’ll see how that goes.
There is also an external temperature probe. However, the cable on that is quite short, so not sure how useful it will be.
It also has multiple ways to link to a smart home type of set up if you want to go down that path.
    Very impressive bit of kit.

I’ve tried a couple of “smart” devices such as this, usually taking the form of a small little puck that is bluetooth, but ultimately goes flat within a few days and is rendered useless, and I’m not made of CR2032 cells!
This badboy, then, is powered direct off microUSB (not type C sadly). It connected straight up to my wifi following the instructions and started reading the environment straight away! It also has a build in light meter, which I totally wasn’t expecting!
External probe, which could be useful for things like incubators or drying rooms etc. Nice bright display, easy to use, easy to mount. I’m very happy!

The WiFi Hygrometer Thermometer Sensor with External Probe arrives with a description which includes pictures on how to use. I have already both apps on my mobile phone but was not able to connect the Hygrometer to my mobile device. I did think about removing the app and re-installation which might well work afterward, I did reboot my mobile phone but that did not help. The actual Hygrometer Thermometer I thought was really good quality and the interface offers a good level of very useful detail. I liked the brightness indicator and have not observed one previously on any other devices, it is basically telling you how much UV light you are getting as opposed to brightness level if I am not mistaken. As I did not connect to a mobile app this will have reduced the available functionality this device offers. I removed the back, very simply and pushing the button alter the thermometer to Centigrade or Fahrenheit. There is a switch to turn on or off, turning on enables the battery power option so will not require to be plugged in to external power source. As the sensor screen is always on when plugged via the usb-c connection or if left on in battery mode this will use up the internal battery source at some given point, believe this is around 6+hours, possibly this is due to being a new battery. The screen is nice with a bright and clearly identifiable indication of the display. I think the main observation here is the power source as that will probably need longer term connection to monitor a given area where placed. I am sure I can get the app to work with a little bit of more resolve on my part. I thought this is a high quality clearly distinguishable display with relevant reliable information that has much to offer as required and where placed.

The sensor was easy to setup, once charged you can add to Tuya Smart app quickly as it appeared asking if I wanted to add it. The device is 2.4ghz wifi only so to add to your network you may need to disable 5ghz briefly. Once it is online you can turn the 5ghz band back on.
The screen gives read out of temp, humidity, light levels and the current time. The temperature reading tied up with another sensor I have so it seems quite accurate.
From the app you can pull up graphs of both the temperature and humidity so very useful. You can also set temperature and humidity alarms if you want to. The app can also enable/disable the backlight via the switch.
The only thing that let the sensor down is the battery life. I’m only getting 3 days out of it at the moment from a full charge.

This hygrometer and thermometer comes with built-in rechargeable battery, which is a big plus for me. The meter works straight out of the box with 80% battery. It gives all the readings except time and date, it does not need to connect to an app.

However, you may connect to TuyaSmart app for extended functions such as alarm setting for max or min temp or humidity, it will also sync the time to the device from your phone. You may monitor the device measurements remotely from outside using the app. It also supports Alexa, so you could easily have the reading read back to you by Alexa.

The meter looks really well-made with clear bright LCD monitor. It looks professional. It comes with a plug in probe for even more accurate measurements.

It is recommended to hang the probe end in the air, so this is not one for plunging into plant pots but more for greenhouses.

However, there is one minor setback – there are multiple places stated this as ‘a Bluetooth’ connection device it is actually ‘WiFi’. You will need to pick: Sensor then Temperature and Humidity ‘WiFi’ in the app for setup, not ‘Bluetooth’ or else it won’t connect.

Overall, a brilliant little device looks really smart and professional.

Seems accurate and very clear display

It worked well with the Tuya app, but not Smart Life. I will be moving to Local Tuya on Home assistant to keep traffic internal. However, the product presents a temp that is very accurate and the alert system is nice
