Bought it to check codes and clear engine warning light. On Vauxhall insignia. It works perfectly. Simple to use. Plug it in to car and that’s pretty much it.

I’ve managed alot of years without needing this up until my latest car that seems to love the garage that much over the last 18 months I’ve put more mileage on hire cars than my own! I’d been away for a few days and the hire car spit out a engine management light, enough was enough. Rather than take everything out if that hire car and put it all back into another, I took a punt on this. It’s a great addition that will tell you the common codes (unless they don’t want you to know) but if not, at least clear them. Did the job intended. I’ve also now got this if my wife’s cae decides to start playing up (which is an older but more reliable car)

Had 02 sensors replaced since the engine management light comes on now and then fault says 02 sensor bank 1 car runs fine, bought this to reset management light as it’s MoT failure if it is on when car is tested

Was sceptical about this but needn’t have been as it clears the codes as described saves me money returning to my garage!

My 10yr old nephew could use this device, very simple and very accurate, why pay a garage 25+ to do this for you?

It’s so straight forward, just follow instructions and then fix problem, then use this to clear the fault codes! Simples ! SAVE MONEY!

I bought this scanner when my car (2017 Vauxhall Astra 1400 petrol) displayed a warning light indicating a fault in the emission control system, and my local garage was unable to look at the car for a week. It is a well made instrument, with a clear display, and is powered by the car – no battery required. I am amazed by the volume of information it provides. Not only does it list the fault codes stored in the car engine control module (ECM), but also the values of several dozen parameters at the time the fault was detected (freeze frame data). Fault codes can be generic (common to all vehicles), or specific to the make and model. Generic codes can be looked up on the scanner. It can also display vehicle info, such as the VIN number, and can be used for the live streaming of many of the variables monitored by the ECM. Last but not least, it can erase fault codes and freeze frame data.
I was impressed by the quality of the manual – a proper booklet, not a flimsy sheet of paper. However, quite rightly, this is a manual for the operation of the scanner, it is not a training course on the diagnosis and rectification of ECM fault codes. If you want to know what all the freeze frame abbreviations mean, if you want to diagnose the cause of the fault codes and fix them, you will need to spend a lot of time searching the web for answers.
Obviously this won’t do what scanners costing 100s do, but I think that it is exceptional value for money for what it does do.

Having returned my first purchase of a different one that had grim instructions and refused to delete error codes and turn off MIL light, this one is utterly marvellous.

For the same price it is easier to use, very clear display and I deleted the errors-having changed the coil-then turned off the MIL light, without even glancing at the instructions.

This is proper so I am delighted and thank you Amazon for allowing a prompt refund on the duff one and delivering this next day, just great customer service as always.

This does engine faults for when your car pops up with an engine warning light. Doesn’t do the more complicated things. Is good though.

Got an error code on my van, garage said fuel filter, the machine then said MAF sensor which fixed the problem immediately.
Why pay 50 pounds plus to have a garage read an error code with the same device, it’s paid for itself in one use rendering it very useful..

I purchased this item for searching and clearing engine DTCs on my 2014 vauxhall insignia. I’ve had a lot of issues with my EGR valve and this tool has be great for determining the problems I’ve had

For the price it seems to do basic fault codes clears them. But could do with being able to read sensor issues. But honestly good for the price

My wife’s Hyundai Accent threw an engine management light, so I went on to Amazon to buy a reader. This one was recommended by Amazon as “AmazonConfirmedFit”. I naively assumed this meant it was able to read the codes from her car, however I am now beginning to suspect that they simply mean the OBDII port is compatible.
It seems a well made bit of kit, and it connected fine with my little Suzuki Splash, but I’ve had to send it back as it wont connect with the car it was intended for.

A versatile machine diagnostic is clear and easy to read. Fits a range of vehicles however check to make sure it covers your vehicle first. Connector and online computer link are fast. Will give diagnosis code or erase codes extinguishing dashboard EML.

‘Check Engine’ Amber warning light came on. Rather than pay a fortune for a manufacturers diagnostics check I chose to purchase this OBD2.
I recommend reading the instructions carefully to ensure you don’t mess things up. I have not used an OBD before but it only took a couple of minutes to obtain the fault code then clear the code and Warning from my instrument binnacle.
Be realistic of the price you’ve paid and this is good value, did what I needed it to do and has saved me more that it cost already.

I didn’t expected much from it as it’s cheap but thought to give it a try with my ongoing message saying ,,vehicle service soon,, on my 14 plate insignia.
Although no lights are present in my dash the obd couldn’t find any error codes however i have proceeded to erase the codes and to my surprise it has cleared the annoying message just to get it back the day after so problem not solved but a decent probably if any lights are present.

I purchased this to use on my 11′ Land Rover defender to clear a pesky fault code. Since it’s a Land Rover and working on it yourself is easy, I wanted something I could use to read and clear fault codes I’d fixed, and this works perfectly for that. It works nicely, doesn’t need batteries (I think) and will read the basic diagnostics on the car and allow you to clear codes. I like having it around so I can tell if an engine warning is a major problem or something that can wait until I can fix it or take it to a garage, and thankfully this code reader is small enough to carry around in a glovebox or seat pocket.

Worth having one around so you know what that check engine light means before taking it to a mechanic

I am so pleased with this little piece of kit. I’d had an annoying service vehicle soon message come up on the dash for months despite the car being mechanically sound. This gets to be really irritating after a while. I plugged this into the port under the steering wheel, turned the ignition on. It took seconds to connect with my car. I selected the obd icon for checking engine faults. I then scanned for faults. It found none, I erased the fault code and there you go. No more annoying needless beeping and inaccurate fault codes every time you turn the key. I don’t know how much a garage or a mechanic would have charged or been able to make a big job out of this situation, but it was well worth the money for me and that was only for something basic. Looks like this wee box does a whole lot more. Very user friendly too. It also finds faults so if you do need work done, you know exactly what needs to be done. A bit of peace of mind when you talk to the mechanic.

Fast, efficient, user friendly and value for money.

great to just plug in and get a brief idea of the issue. downside is that it doesn’t list or tell you if there are not current, but stored faults. decent product though and worth the price.

Bought this to see if it would help remove a Gearbox Fault message on the dash that has put the car into Limp mode, to protect the engine. Checked previous reviews and it seemed to have been used on other Jaguars, but the S Type wasn’t mentioned, nor this fault. Connected it up, easily enough, after reading the manual. It read the VIN number so it was working, but it couldn’t see any fault codes to clear. So don’t buy this if you have a Gearbox Fault on your dash.

This is quite literally one of the best products I have bought of Amazon to date very good value for what it does have used it on a number of vehicles for minor fault codes and has not steered me wrong yet.

Have used on a few friends cars and they were so impressed with it they bought one them selves very easy to use and very clear to read.

I would not recommend this for more detailed faults as it only has the ability to read and clear codes does provide descriptions for most faults but not all but then again once you have the code that’s where google can come in handy

Hadn’t expected much given the price, but this did exactly what it needed too in terms of reading and erasing codes. Really simple to use, just plug it in and it works straight away. I have a Vauxhall corsa which very occasionally goes into limp mode when started up if there has been lots of rain. It never saves a fault code from this so there’s nothing my garage can do when I take it to them, as it starts working again after a few hours. Bought this to see if I could find any fault codes when it was in limp mode, and it was able to erase any pending codes allowing me to drive off safely. It’s easily proved its worth, but I might recommend buying a bluetooth and app based diagnostics reader if you want a bit more insight into codes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOk… quick story. MOT due, had a hole in exhaust which caused emissions issue, which in turn caused engine light to come on. And due to car only being used for short journeys a new exhaust didnt get enough run time to clear the engine light. Sooooooo…. It’s 30 for a diagnostic where I get my service done and it’s 20 for this wonderful little box…. do the maths. Followed the instructions, it told me exactly what I’d already assumed (but also reassuring to know that this was the only fault) pressed a couple of buttons and the engine light was gone! MOT passed! Dont forget, ANY engine light on the dash is now an instant MOT failure.
Just a quick note to anyone wanting to buy this item. My car is pretty basic. This device covers every sensor it’s engine has. But I’m presuming the more complicated the car the further up the range of this item you may require. Yet for me it was absolutely perfect. Simple, effective, and incredible value for money. Would recommend 100%

I got this after having problems with a Bluetooth/Smartphone combination. This was cheap and wired so thought I would give it a go. I am very happy that I did as it works and will be used on long journeys where the last thing I need is a reader that can’t connect because of bluetooth issues.
Functionally its much more limited that an App based reader where you get seemingly endless monitoring options. This is fairly basic and US-centric (I/M readiness?), but it does reset engine codes and shows pending codes too.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersUnlike bluetooth obd2 readers! You have to buy the bluetooth reader then sadly later on you find out that you have to buy the app too, that receives the signal and translates the codes which is twice more expensive than the bluetooth device itself!

I had an engine management light that keeps coming on and off on my Mercedes AMG E63 2015. Unfortunately mercedes dealership couldn’t read the error code because every time I switch the car off and back on the engine light goes away so every time I take it to mercedes they couldnt help because there is no light every time I take it to them. Until I decide to get this because once the engine management light comes on I can see the car goes to limp mode almost un-driveable! So as soon as I got the light I plugged this fantastic obdII reader in and in seconds it told me that the (Ignition recoil circut) is gone so that needs to be replaced. Went back to mercedes Dealership and just told them what to do and my car is fixed. Fantastic product!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works 100%, Fantastic value, amazing produc

I bought this scanner to read faults on my Mercedes C220 cdi. Easy to use just plug and play. I have two codes, one for Mass air flow meter and one for Diesel Particulate Filter. DPF won’t regenerate if there is something else wrong so tried to clean the Maf sensor and reset the codes. Ok for five minutes then engine light came back on. I have now ordered a new sensor and await it’s arrival. The scanner worked very well and has other functions which I haven’t looked at yet. I would definitely recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI had an engine fault light appear on my Ford Focus. I didn’t want to fork out a load of money at a garage so I tried this.

It doesn’t need batteries, you just plug it into the socket under your steering wheel and it powers up (the socket is a bit like the SCART on your TV).

When you turn your ignition on, you choose a menu on the scanner to read the faults. It gives you a description of the fault and a number. I then looked up the fault on YouTube to see how to fix it. You can clear faults with this scanner, so you can carry on driving for a while to see if the fault light comes back on. Just in case it was a false alarm.

I believe it can be used on any model of car that has the OBD socket under your dash. I am leaving it in my boot in case a problem happens when I am driving.

    Edit:
I have since read comments about it not working for people and thought it might be this: when you plug it in, it powers up but it can’t connect to your car’s management unit until you turn your ignition on.
