How to Clean Your Lifestraw

1. Open the caps at the bottom and top of the filter.

2. Firmly blow all the water out of the filter.

3. Always follow these easy steps after using your LifeStraw and preferably let it dry with open caps after using it.

How it Works

LifeStraw uses an advanced hollow fibre membrane technology. The membrane has microscopic pores that trap contaminants larger than 0,2 microns. Water is able to pass through but dirt, bacteria and parasites are bigger than the pores and get filtered out. It’s a highly efficient method of filtration and does not require chemicals, batteries or moving parts.

How do I Know the Lifestraw Has Reached ist Maximum Filter Capacity?

The flow rate of your LifeStraw will decrease, and then stop pulling water through once it reaches the end of its lifespan. You can increase the lifespan by cleaning the LifeStraw after each use. You can rest assured, that you will never drink contaminated water from a LifeStraw – when the water stops flowing through it, you know it is time for a new one!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGot these for camping, in case we run out of water, and need to drink out of the river. Nice insurance to have, just in case. You have to drink slowly, you can olny draw water through it so fast, but it comes through clean and without any funny taste.

    1) it came not as in the picture but much better in paper box each of the three straws packed separately
    2) great feeling when you know you also helped someone else by your purchase (the donation component included in the price)
    3) works very well, the plastic is smooth and odour free

I haven’t actually used these yet. Saving for a need for clean water. I hope they work as advertised. They are no cheap. Had about as many critical reviews as positive ones.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this product on the basis of a multitude of stories and information on the internet. It is a product for EMERGENCY USE ONLY. I personally hope I never have to use them, that said, I will only ever know their true worth in an EMERGENCY!

They work as expected, used one on a hiking trip. Great to know that if you run out of water, you can find a source and feel confident in drinking it.

This was a great buy. I made a tornado bag for our family and wanted to include a means for all of us to have safe drinking water. This was the quantity I needed at a price I couldn’t pass up. I hope we don’t need them, but it’s nice to know they’re ready.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhy doesn’t everyone have one of these, when the “poop” hits the fan, you’ll want wish you had some

If your city’s water supply becomes contaminated and you can’t boil water for some reason, this is your guardian angel!

    High quality, portable,

    A literal straw of life!

One for me, one for two of my kids who are outdoors hitting the trail often. Very satisfied with the price, the 3-pack option, and the concept, though I’ve only tested it so far with tap water. Great survival tool and eliminates having to backpack a lot of water in the backcountry.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought 2 sets of these and gave one set to my daughter.
During the big Texas freeze in Feb. This year she lost all electricity and water. Luckily she had filled her tubs with water for flushing toilets etc. When she was unable to find drinking water she used these straws to drink from her tubs. They worked great.

I really like how they package these. I got these for bug out bags and when they came they where in a box together but then separately wrapped.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA great buy! My son used them in a camping trip. But as happy as the person in the ad looks drinking puddle water, these do not change the flavour. Still tastes like puddle water.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usersook a bit to get the hang of using it. works better when it is in the water halfway or more. I started off by just dipping the end and it was too hard to suck water through.

They are quality filtration straws. Took Concord grape juice and removed the juice and colors approx 99% first filtration- has a smell of grape juice without any flavor and virtually no color- same with iced tea. Note you must blow hard to clean the straw back out after each use but it is necessary …A tad on the bulky side but also very effective…

I would like to apologize about an earlier review I wrote. I was frustrated for the wrong reason and should not have let my emotions dictate the truth. After trying this product, I can honestly say that it is great. It is light and easy to use. This is perfect for outdoor activities mostly when you don’t have a source of reliable fresh water on hand.

Bought this to drink my wife’s grandma’s soup, it filters everything so it literally turned her soup to pure water, great stuff! Perfect for anyone who hates soup as much as i do. Highly recommend

I unpacked the products and used one of them. It is found that the product was made in Korean. This really surprised me.
And it is a little hard to suck water from the tubes. Moveover, there is some chemical smell in them.

Bought these for our emergency GO BAG. Have yet to test them out but my father, who is big on emergency items, has used his and did his research before purchasing. He recommends the life straw. They’re light weight and fit in the small ouch in the front of my Bug Out bag.

Yes, a long life saving straw, potentially, in case of emergency or just to help.
I already have some and I gave some away as gift, really practical invention.

I bought this set of 3. I kept one for myself, one as a gift and one to try it out and see how well it worked. From my experience it works like its supposed to but as an emergency only. I would not want to use this on regular camping trips as it is hard to suck up the water from it unless you are using a bottle water and forcing water into the straw. But it does make water safer and in an emergency some water is better than no water even if its hard to suck up the water. Definitely something you want for your camping, hiking or emergency backpack.

I have used it in all kinds of dirty waters and it works perfectly. I could also say I did a proof test. A friend didn’t believe in it and drank from the same water as I did but without the LifeStraw. He stayed in bed for several days. Its plastic is very light but very strong.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe bomb for remote hikes. Avoid concerns with water quality. Long lasting and even puddle water tastes fine through it. Have used on two back packing trips and love it! Super lightweight. Needs a wide mouth bottle to use it more effectively, but can drink straight from streams too.

We bought these as a safety measure to take on our boat…you know, water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink. With this it will all be drinkable in case of emergency. It will also be good in case of emp or other national emergency. In our opinion it’s cheap insurance and as there are a lot of lakes, rivers and streams around us, we have lots of water available.

Came individually wrapped/sealed which I love as opposed to as pictured.

I love the concept and convenience of these and had hoped to test one out camping but not this year… but this is going to be one of those things I hope to never have to use. Put right into my emergency supply kit! Maybe camping next year.

Came super fast, thanks Amazon’s prime!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersWe took these to Costa Rica just in case we were not near any normal water source. We ended up not needing them bc Costa Rica has their water game on lockdown. We ended up giving them to a friend who is traveling around Thailand and Cambodia. He said he has used them while hiking in the mountains and they have worked very well. So far no sickness haha and he said that the water flow through it is good.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTook them with me on a trip just in case. Used one of them and it worked nicely. It’s hard to not give it 5 stars because there is no way for me to tell if it working 100%. I used it with tap water. At a later date I may try on muddy or other source. Worth having as a backup.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt took a look time for the LifeStraws to arrive – they were on back order at the time I placed my ordered the. I sent them on down to the Virgin Islands thru the Adopt aFamily USVI program. I am sure they are being used in a place where they are really needed!
