They could use more pockets & price could be lower but overall good work pants for carpenter. Bottom shrinks up a bit but bought them slightly long so they fit great.

    Tolle Wahl, definitive Kaufempfehlung.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersCarhartt doesn’t make much in America anymore but these are.the fits just a tiny bit on the small side.these are tough as nails and wear like that.these aren’t ur comfy pants.these are for thickets in the thick woods,a job site with sharp edges everywhere,If you do a lot of knee work, dirty jobsvery tough pants.i think they are worth the dollar.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI typically wear a 36×34. After receiving my first pair, which were too long and too narrow. I ordered 38x30s which fit well.

If this is the standard sizing for carhartt I’d suggest +2 on waist and -4 on length from traditional pants.

I am unsure what the B01’s were like prior to the pair I started wearing last year, but so far as those goes these are the best pants I have ever wore. They are sturdier, more comfortable (after wash and wear), and look better than anything else. The duck fabric works and washes beautifully.

My only gripe: I wish there were more color options. At least a white to allow for dying.

Don’t ever discontinue these pants, Carhartt.

I’ve used carharts for yrs. Changed and tried a different work pants. They were nice felt good not quite as heavy. Not long wearing. Back to Carharts. Excellent long wearing material. Second knees. Extremely well made. Highly recommend. May pay a bit more but worth the price for the quality.

It’s made with good, thick material. I’m very impressed with the quality. However, I first purchased this in my brother’s actual size (32w x 32l) and it didn’t fit at all. I had to return it and purchase a 36w x 32l which fit way better. It was a tad loose on his waist, but it’s perfect with a belt and we’re expecting it to shrink a little after washing. So ya’ll, buy two sizes up!!!

I have had these pants in the past but didn’t know the size I needed as I’ve gotten heavier. I matched the size of ALL of my other pants (38-30) and the waist was tight and the leg too long on these. I had to return. I do love the pants and I know they last very well. I still recommend buying, but choose sizing carefully.

These shrunk too much. Fit perfectly everywhere but the waist. Not even close to being able to button. Sad day.

The picture alludes to a slightly more fitted leg, they’re quite wide, and a bit longer than expected, a bit longer in the leg than many other of his 32×32 but will be able to hem. But they’re durable and quality pants.

The pant length may seem long but they shrink in length even after a cold wash.

Size up in the waste by an inch or two

The stitching for the most part is immaculate.

I got a made in the USA pair which was a nice surprise

Pants shrunk after cold wash and air dry

Very good trousers i bought a 33w30l as that was all that was available and they fit perfect.
My waist measures 91 cm and my inner leg from crotch to bottom of mi foot is 83cm. Im normally a 34w/31l in the uk. I previously bought carhartt double front utility pants straight fit, but there no good for me to skinny cant move in them. These are the mutts nutts not too baggy just right, maybe the legs are about an inch longer than they should be but I’ve read they will shrink up a bit, waist size is pretty accurate from my experience . What i don’t quite understand is the difference in price of different sizes, if i wanted to get a 34w it was 45 more, how does that work. Will be buying more when there available which seems to be a problem here in the uk at the mo. Would like a pair in the gravel colour, seen a picture but not available anywhere. Overall excellent purchase robust well built American quality.

    Loving these carhartts

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI am 5’8 175 and wear 34×30 when I bought these pants I got size 34×30 and had them for a few months washed them etc. One day I measured the length because I noticed they were a bit short and not as lengthy and they measured out to be just under 29 inches. So I realized as I keep washing them will will continue to get shorter and shorter (washed with cold and dried low heat sometimes air dried). The waist wasn’t a issue because as you wear them they get loose so I bought a size 33×32 and I tried them on and the waist fit perfectly. Obviously the length was long and of course the pants were firm, I measured the new pants and they were 33 in the length and was really long for me but I gave them a wash and keep wearing them. So far I washed them a little over 10 times and had them for only a few months and just measured them earlier and they are 31 in length and are not to short or to baggy just perfect!. So I see other reviews of people saying “there to stiff” “so long” bla bla bla grow up lol all you need to do is wash them and once they break in you won’t want to take them off. (My own experience others may vary)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs many others have stated, these DO run a bit small in the waist, very similar to how dickies run in sizing. They also run a bit longer in the inseam, so keep that in mind. You’d probably do okay at going one size up from your regular blue jeans size (think levis). I’m a skinny guy at 5’11” 150 lbs, I have worn 32×30 in blue jeans since high school, I wear a 33×30 in dickies 874s and I ordered a 34×30 in these Carhartt b01s. They’re a bit loose in the waist but I’m certain that’ll go away once I run them through the wash (they’re 100% cotton so expect some shrinkage) you should also use that as another reason to size up, so that they don’t shrink and become unwearable! I definitely could have gotten away with a 33×30 but I was very concerned about them shrinking in the waist (an issue I never had with dickies since they’re made of polyester) and I’m glad I made that choice. Aside from the sizing, they are well made, and well worth the money I spent on them. I needed new pants for work since I’m constantly blowing out the knees on my blue jeans (I work maintenance at a university so I’m repairing washing machines a lot of the time) and these fit the bill. They’re tough and I’ll bet I’ll have a hard time getting through the double knee construction. I only wish they were an actual 30″ inseam, so that I didn’t have to roll the cuffs up on them, but that’s no big deal. All in all, they do run small, so order a size or two up from your usual blue jean size.

    *UPDATE: 4/19/21* –
I ordered another pair in black in a size 33×30, they fit much better around the waist than the 34s. If you’re a slimmer guy and you’re unsure of what size to get, maybe try going one size up vs. 2 full sizes. Going one size up from a 32 to a 33 seemed to fit me better. Just wanted to make that distinction.

The best and USA made, the same as my originals. I think the sizing is the same, I’ve washed the originals many times and they do tighten with laundering.

I am a gardener, which really takes its toll on clothing. I have a pair of these and they really are tough and durable. After a couple of years, just a few wear holes are showing. Only gripe is that they fade after a few washes to beige. If these ever do wear out, I will definitely buy another pair.

The trousers fit really well – I have a 37″ inside leg and they cover my bootlaces. The high waist is fantastic and the quality of cloth and stitch is very high. An added bonus for me was that the knee has a pocket for knee pads that I didn’t spot on the description – you can slide up a pad through an upside down pocket, I used a set of pads from my Snickers that were flexible enough to squeeze in. I leave them in even when I wash the trousers and they have dried with no problems. I chose these trousers because they were described a rugged and they looked smart as well and I have not been disappointed.

These trousers are the best I’ve tried yet …and I have tried just about every brand available including esab leather front welding trousers (as I am a welder ) they are useless !!! It seems only in america can work trousers be made to last . I’ve had these carhart trousers for about a month now without any rips burns or seem fails and that is a mirical as the last ten different pairs I’ve bought have struggled to survive a week . carhartt workwear forever for me now . ( I am 32 leg 34 waist ) the waist is a nice fit but 30 inch leg fits me ..plenty long enough ( they sit on my boot about the same as the guy in the picture ) I first bought 32 inch waist because everyone was saying on here that they would be massive , they were too tight . my experience is that the waist sizes are accurate but the legs are quite over length . I hope this might help if you thinking of buying .

I’ve only had these for a short time, and they’re really quite something. In the past I’d heard of Carhartt in passing conversation, but never actually had a product for myself, so when I needed durable work “khakies” (of sorts) I went for these—I don’t regret it. Straight from Amazon I bought my normal size (30×32) and it came in the right waist although perhaps an inch or so longer than expected, but I imagine this would be great for boots as the weather cools down again. In terms of the groin, there’s a regular amount of room, no crazy “ballroom” fitting like Duluth (but neither are these $80 pants for scraping your wallet). The material (12oz per yard^2 density) is fantastic, and is so dense that even light water spray or rain does bead on these (although in no way are these waterproof—just like any other cotton product—because it’s made of 100% COTTON). Double layering takes place in the front of the leggings from the upper thigh down to the shins, producing a grand total of 24oz per yard^2 density in that area, along with the bottom of the second layer being unstitched from the first to allow for the use of knee pads. Stitching also appears suburb, with “made in the USA” being a plus in addition to the nowadays hard to find “Carhartt” button and tough zipper. The large range of pockets are also a great addition, and something that I’ve never had before in such a usable package. All the pockets are deep, and apart from your general jeans arrangement there is the addition of a hammer loop on the left leg alongside a “small” (6″ deep) pocket, then a similar pocket on the other leg with a duplicate just above it. My time with these pants so far has been on a Tall Ship sailing, running and relaxing, and for all situations apart from anything close to a split these have done well. It seems like it might take some time to wear in these un-“washed” Carhartts, but in the end I think they’re going to work out nicely. Even now these are becoming my new favorite pants!

    Update:
After wearing these almost daily for weeks now, I can confidently say these are my new favorite pants in all weather but the rain. They wear in around the edges, though aren’t prone to coal dust or dirt stains and are still the same brown color I purchased them as (Carhartt Brown) through numerous washes. Comfort has also been great as I’m able to wear them 24 hours a day (literally, I’ve slept in them), through a rigorous work day in hot summer weather and—oddly enough—with nothing else on whatsoever. Lastly, the seams are well in order, and nothing had torn or began fraying to pieces—I’ll update again if anything changes.

The info from the seller wasn’t wrong – these trousers really are on the large side. I went against washing instructions to wash at high temperature and max temperature tumble dry to get them to shrink and I’ve still got plenty of room! I wear braces (suspenders) so the extra waist is not a massive (no pun intended) problem.
The cotton softens after a few washes and they are very comfortable.
I wear knee pads in mine and I’m not sure if the outer layer of fabric covering will last as long as my Snickers or Blaklader trousers – only time will tell. I did need to open up the bottom stitching of the knee pad pocket to make it easier to get the foam knee pads in and out.
I ordered a second pair one waist size down but I’ve not worn them yet – hopefully they won’t feel too snug after the stacks of room in the first pair.

Golden Review Award: 61 From Our UsersI wrote the attached review a few years ago now when I first started wearing carhartts jeans on my motorbike. They quickly became the only brand of jeans I wear on the bike and still are. I particularly like being able to order my exact size, particularly the leg length. I’m a shade over 6′ tall, and having heavyweight canvas jeans with 36″ legs makes sure there’s plenty of material bunched over the tops of my boots to block the wind. They can get a little warm at rest stops on 80+ degree days, on the other hand they protect your legs better when you’re back on the road in full sun.

I have a several pairs of these dungarees, a couple common-or-garden, a pair of flannel-lined for colder days so I don’t have to bother with longjohns/thermals, a pair 2″ oversized waist for concealed carry or wearing over thick thermals/sweat pants/Levi’s, and the faded old pair with the front knee panel worn through that are still plenty good enough for yardwork. These things last a long time.

One last thing – if you wash them inside out, the brass rivets won’t smack around the inside of the washer and drier drums, and your vintage t-shirts, quite so hard; and if you dry them on ‘Low’, you’ll have a better chance of fastening them the next time you put them on.

    ***
    Original review:
I heard about Carhartt work pants as good bike pants over a year ago, and when my last pair of riding jeans wore out, I finally decided to risk $35 to find out. They were right. I’ve been riding bikes for 35 years, mostly in Lees and Levi’s boot cuts, and a decade ago I discovered kevlar lined ‘Draggin’ Jeans’, which are soft, comfortable and great peace of mind for well over a hundred bucks. These Carhartt double fronted dungarees may not protect my ass quite as much as kevlar, but they’re as hard as nails and at around forty dollars including tax and freight, I don’t need to look any more.

These pants are not far short of wire mesh straight out of the box. I washed mine four times on the long cycle, warm, with extra suds before giving them two rinses and throwing three fabric softener sheets in the tumble dryer with them. After more than 2,000 miles on the bike, lots of normal everyday wear and numerous more washes, these pants have not so much attained the soft like-a-deerskin-glove feel that favorite denim jeans do – it feels more as if it’s shaping itself to my body….the double front keeps your legs warm from the pocket line to halfway down your shin, where your 8″ boots take over. They are not going to get you home dry through a thunderstorm, but they are more rain resistant than denim and they’re just fine in light showers or on wet roads.

These pants sit most comfortably with the belt line at navel level, and they do it without wedging you. This makes a big difference to how cold your back gets after the first 50 miles. I usually take a 36×34, but got these in a 36×36, which are perfect on a bike – the extra 2″ stops them riding up past ankle height, even with feet on highway pegs at 70mph, there’s less wind whistling up the canyon, and that helps keep you a lot warmer than those hip hugging waders…now that I’m used to them, I wear these pants all day, everyday, and I don’t have to worry about getting changed into something more robust if I see a job that needs doing around the house, garden or garage.

I bought one pair to try. After a month and a thousand miles on the bike, I bought another black pair, and a ‘Carhartt Brown’ (that weird mustardy beige color) pair for gardening, hunting and camping. The pockets are roomy, and I fit my glasses case in the right hand tool pocket, cell phone in the left, and can hang a 4x D-cell torch through the hammer loop. I have a custom made 2″ wide leather belt which fits the loops, which it doesn’t on ‘normal’ denim jeans. Because these sit at the waist, I can cinch them up and hang my Buck, Leatherman and a folding tool off it, on top of all the other aforementioned bits and pieces, plus wallet and loose change, all without risking walking out of my trousers. If superheroes wore jeans, this is what they’d wear.

They look pretty reasonable for a burger & beer night out, but after a few miles you might want to pull out the designer labels if you’re going out to a real restaurant.

I’ll be interested to see how long these things last. I’m thinking ‘a while’.
