Works well most of the time but is not very tolerant of mistakes (needed to recalibrate after 2 flights). Range is poor, good only for indoor use or a back garden. Video stutters sometimes. But for all its faults it is fun.

This is an excellent drone with a great set of features. However, certain things are quite unclear for beginners.

    – Tello vs. Tello EDU apps (if you assume that yought the Tello EDU and therefore just needs the Tello EDU app, you are WRONG. You need to use the Tello app to activate the drone for the first time and install firmware update. You can then use Tello EDU even for manual control as well as for coding. Why don’t they show a message in Tello EDU app to activate the drone usinf Tello first? They would even connect to it using Wifi and clikc Takeoff but the drone never flies without activation.

    – Block coding app for Android or iOS is great, but a PC based app (Win/Mac) would be great. Similar to what they have in Lego Spike Prime kits, they could have something similar.

    – Tutorials could be more useful. They are scattered in the web and a lot of them were from individuals (official ones are of bare minimum if any).

    – About 10-20 typical use cases would be great.

Nice drone for beginners, quite easy to fly , there is some pre-programmed tricks and flips , goes out of range after 10m high but still good fun although it’s not wind proof. Recommend buying lots of propellers or a special guard cage add on as they brake when you hit obstacles even with supplied bumper guards. Good fun for a small price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners to learn flying drones.

    Hello
This product is amazing unfortunately it was faulty but received a replacement very quickly.
The only problem I have experienced is that I was charged twice, once for original, once for replacement and have yet to have a refund.
Seller.. if you are reading these. Please refund my second payment.
    Thank you so much

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWell, out of the box it was quite easy to get going, although I need to charge the batteries some more before I can keep using it 🙂

I downloaded the Tello app – took a while as there’s loads of “compatible” apps, some charging 4.99. But the Tello app is free. The app has a really low rating on Android of 1.4 stars, but I’ve not had any issues with it.

Simply turn on the drone. Connect your phone’s wifi to the drone wifi. Open the Tello App. Connect. Fly.

I also ordered a compatible joypad (Gamesir T1D) which was easy to set up in the Tello App.

The camera quality isn’t brilliant, but for the price you can’t complain.

I was looking at the DJI SE for 269 (359 with extra batteries etc) and even the DJI Mini 3 with controller for 859. but I thought – how often am I going to use it really?! And this 99 drone (139 with spare batteries etc) felt more within budget with what I’m using it for – as a fun toy that if I break or lose won’t end in financial tears.

Does everything it should and more. App for it is poor and batteries are next to useless. One failed almost straight away and other 2 now dead or near to it.

    Brilliant budget drone

For flying indoors and outside in no wind it’s great fun, I’ve had drones around this price before and none can compare on quality, video, control, easy to fly with phone and great at flips, it’s a great fun drone

As an indoor toy – fantastic!
As a drone to learn how to fly – fantastic!
As a drone to be used to learn Vision AI drone programming – fantastic!
As an outdoor drone – yep it works, but…..Low resolution, no onboard storage and it flys best on a windless day – but what do you expect for the price? if you want the wow factor, you have to spend 10 times as much
just buy one – you will easily sell it on with little loss if you get bored

This drone the fulfils all of my novice drone flying needs. built in partnership between two very trusted and well known brands, this product is not only a drone, this model has lots & lots of features that you would never expect a drone of this size to be capable of. For example the excellent picture quality and the speed it flies when ‘fast’ mode is activated!! 10/10 would definitely recommend!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEven knowing the Tello was rather small, it’s quite a surprise when you open the box. It’s very small for a drone, almost looking like a toy, but make no mistake – that’s quite a serious drone.
App and controls are quite intuitive, and a little bit less so the connection procedure. Once everything is set, you’re good to go – no calibration needed. That would have been a nice feature though, as the positioning system doesn’t work very well indoors, and without calibratable trims, it will drift very often.
Outdoors, the positioning system is flawless, and even on strong wind it allows the drone to fly very stably. If the wind isn’t too bad, you can reach 30m high comfortably. However, if it loses the positioning lock (no GPS), it may drift away quite fast at that altitude.
Most of its pre-programmed tricks require a standstill atmosphere, and not always did it land immediately when connection was lost, so if the wind is strong in these situations, arrivederci Tello!
Great value for money, but definitely not for beginners.

Bought for partner as a beginner. Fab value for money and perfect for a beginner. Not too basic but not too advanced either. Definitely recommend purchasing the DJI Tello GameSir T1d controller, although you can use it without via the phone app.

Indoor and outdoor (low or no wind) best. Works well, a good first drone or for development work

Great little drone for beginners or for fun. Struggles outdoors in any wind, but perfect for indoors and outdoors in still conditions.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersIncredible drone for beginners and those who want to try before moving towards more expensive ones. Just buy, don’t think. Highly recommend. Easy to control, great photos and videos.
Suggestion: also buy Mi Wifi Extender 2 to boost wifi signal. Normal range for this drone is ok, but if you want to uncover its true potential, amplifier is a must have.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersMy first drone and very pleased.

    A few tips:

    1. The manual is online and not in the box. Read it and everything is clear.
    2. Charge your batteries first. The manual tells you how. Watch which way you try to insert them.
    3. Download the App. I’m using my iPad.
    4. Start gently at first to get used to how responsive it is to range.
    5. Be gentle with the controls. A small movement can have a big effect.
    6. Wind velocity changes at different heights. It may be calm at ground level but take this up to above roof height and it can catch the breeze.
    7. Read the manual.

    Overall very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI was expecting a hell of a lot less for 140. First off, I’m a stickler for packaging. Not only is it all recyclable, bit there is no wasted space, so you can happily use the packaging and box as a carrying box as it keeps the drone, batteries, charger and spare props neatly protected.

One of the batteries had enough charge to get the drone flying. It’s ridiculously easy to fly (well, it’s also pretty easy to fly it in to a house plant which your loving partner has been nurturing for 4 years and chop the top off).

2 minor complaints: there’s no obvious instructions saying “download app X from your phone’s store”, but just search for Trello, install and follow instructions. Maybe mine was missing?

Also, the charger lights are unintuitive. They are either flashing green or solid green, but it’s not clear of either means a battery is charged. I used one that was solid green and it only lasted 2 minutes.

Will report back if I figure out more.

This is a great product for the first time drone user, bought it for my 11 year old son who picked up the controls very quickly. the extra battery packs are worth getting as one battery will only last approx 10 mins. one word of warning, as this is a very light drone it does get blown around in the wind a lot out side so be careful when using outside.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood battery life for its size.

WiFi based control is as awful as you’d expect, but range extenders help out here.

Video is streamed to your phone, so make sure you have a decently powered one!

The stability is up to DJI’s usual quality and worth the ~100 asking price alone.

The other selling point is that you could control it with a laptop (think the game watchdogs)

You can buy cheaper, but you’d not get anywhere near the level of control. Also get the additional batteries, you’ll certainly want them!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users…this was a prezzie for my son’s birthday and he’s made up with it. Easy to fly, the picture and video quality is surprisingly good for such a small piece of kit. Be careful if it’s windy though, as it’s lightweight and you might lose it.

We’re not experienced in the drone world so have no frame of reference, but this little beast is excellent fun and has already got us thinking about something bigger and juicier. Glad I went for the Boost Pack too as the three batteries are in constant rotation at the moment.

In short, loads of fun to be had with this one.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFantastic little drone. Good to fly inside if rooms are medium to large. Outside is even better but so far only tried on very still days. Found it will fly easily 15m away outside. Over the height of the house.

Amazing how stable and controllable this drone is. Will hold height and ground position with ease. Camera and video quality are also good for simple shots.

So far found it robust with a couple of minor crashes.

Only challenge I found was the house WiFi grabbing my phone and disconnecting from the Tello. But if you set your other WiFi networks to manual join rather than auto join it solves it.

Battery life as expected around 15mins and charger will recharge each battery in around 40mins from a high output charger.

Worth noting that the 3 slot charger charges each battery in turn. It doesn’t charge all batteries at the same time. But this allows you to get back to flying the quickest.
