Probably going to single handedly bring croquet back in style…. It’s fun and this set is awesome. The only downside is that people keep showing up to my house because they want to play another match. Pairs well with beer and backyard lights.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI can only compare to the set I had as a kid and this is much better. I like the long mallets. Well worth the little extra money. Our dog with very strong teeth chewed at the balls the first time we used it. No damage. Handy storage sack to keep it all together.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLoved playing this as a kid! Introduced my kids to it. GREAT QUALITY set with nice carry/storage bag. This would make an AMAZING house warming gift ( provided they have a flat lawn).

Not a bad little croquet set. Would have preferred the old fashion type with the wooden balls but they don’t make those anymore. I don’t particularly like the plastic balls that it came with as they get sometimes get small dents in them. That doesn’t affect your game but it’s a little annoying. I also would’ve preferred it If the mallet heads were a little larger like the older sets. I did like the fact that you had the choice of the longer mallets though, as those can be used for both adults and kids are like. The carrying case is great as well. So besides those couple of minor things, it’s not a bad set.

Muy divertido juego, el estuche y artculos bien. Solo los mazos deberan de mejorar la calidad, hubo uno que se rompi un poco de donde se pega, no es madera es como una resina, deben tener mejor calidad.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWell packaged, arrived in a timely manner, quality materials and paint, clear instructions. The plastic wrappings on the handles was a little overboard, but overall a great set for a reasonable price.

Great for the children. Hard for adults as wooden mallets are very short. Adults really need the 35 inch. Wire hoops are a little flimsy. Adding number flags to each hoop would help the players know which direct the play is going. I will buy a better set if the game proves to be popula

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOrdered the full size set to play croquet while on vacation at a house rental. The set is sturdy and durable and still looks great after using it a few times so far. It comes with printed rules which was very helpful as no one in my group was aware of the potential for bonus points and that adds a lot of fun to the game (why go directly for the wicket when you can knock your spouse’s ball far away and get a bonus hit to go for the wicket? [The answer to that is because my aim isn’t that good]). The carrying case makes it very easy to transport and kept the car free of grass stains and dirt on the drive home.

I had one issue with the order – I received two orange handles and no purple handle. I informed customer service and they were very responsive and promptly sent me a replacement handle (and gave me no grief for taking nearly a month to send back order information that they requested to complete the request). They also shipped the replacement to my home even though I ordered the set to the vacation rental.

Would definitely order from GoSports again.

Great set with 1 minor complaint (several of the balls have splits in them). But the mallets? They are holding up beautifully. And we like the long handles.

It is so fun to have a Croquet Set again!! I purchased this set since it could be used by my ” longer limbed friends”. The first time I played game it took a lot of power to get the ball across the lawn. Yikes!! Now I know.
When I received the set, mistakenly there were 2 green mallets and no aqua mallet. I contacted customer service and in about a week the aqua mallet handle arrived. All is well and now we can play since the rain storms have ceased in the Pacific North West!

We purchased this for a birthday party and didn’t open it right away.
Three weeks later when we opened for the party and we discovered we had two red mallets and no orange mallet.
We got through the party and I contacted the seller and let him know.
Within four days I have a orange mallet that just arrived in the mail. I love the set!!! The kids had a blast and the sticks are durable and the perfect height for both 7 year olds and adults.
we had a great time playing and the customer service is off the charts.
    Highly recommend!!!

This game has been so much fun with my kids. They just love it and it’s it’s sturdy and not too heavy for the kids to hold. It has held up through the kids banging and hitting the wickets so much. Would recommend. Fun for the whole family!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPurchased this for use on a family day. Didn’t want to spend too much, because I didn’t know if it would ever be used more than once. Upon arrival, assembly was simple and straight forward. Everything seemed to go together well. Mallet handles are nice and long, this was a game of adults only. We played through a couple of games and everything still looks fine. No damage to the handles or mallets or balls or wickets. The bag is nice and roomy, so everything can go into it fully assembled.

Side note, it was actually great fun. Bought because one person had mentioned an enjoyable experience playing croquet before. No one else had played before, but everyone had a good time. We had a set as a kid, but I don’t think anyone actually knew how to play.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. It was money well spent.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a surprisingly good set. Definitely NOT junk, everything is well and solidly made, well finished, well painted, etc. Perhaps not “premium” or “professional” quality, but for casual use it’s really very good.

I can’t tell if the balls are solid plastic or what, but they’ve got good weight to them and seem very solid. There is nothing else plastic, which is very refreshing.

One touch I >really< liked was the carrying case, which is (gasp) LARGER than it needs to be. Nearly ALL games pack everything into a skin-tight case that requires you to be a Jedi puzzle master to Jenga all of the pieces in, but not this one. Goes to show they weren't trying to save pennies. Do realize that the mallets have a handle length is made for kids, not adults, and is therefore on the short side (this is clearly indicated in the description / photos). Adults can certainly use them, but they are not full-length - that usually costs more. I'm 5'10" and haven't had any issues. I think they'd be fine for any kid about age 6 and up. Would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’d be happier if my balls weren’t dented, but not a lot 🙂

Overall, I recommend this set but with cautions and recommendations after having used this set for two months.

I’ll start with the cons (short list):

    – Some of the balls were dented either during the first game or they arrived pre-dented and weren’t noticed until
play started. After weekly-or-so games no new dents have appeared, making me think it’s a QA issue in production as opposed to a problem with the materials. Regardless, we aren’t pro players – we’re just keeping busy and having fun during Covid Summer. Besides, the ongoing ‘dented balls’ jokes were totally worth it. Seriously – say that out loud to someone else without snickering. You just can’t do it!

    – The wood threads for mallets looked a little on the weak side, and a small number of other reviewers complained of breakages. I applied *liberal* amounts of wood glue, just in case, and have had no problems.

    Pros:

    – The price is pretty good

    – Overall quality seems reasonable (above exceptions and workarounds)

    – No disassembly is need to store the mallets in the bag (see above)

All in all, I would recommend this set, dented balls and all!

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersI haven’t played croquet since I was a kid, but thought it might be a fun game to have now that I live in a home with a yard large enough to better enjoy the game with visiting friends or relatives, so after considerable review of various sets….shocked at the prices of some until I kept reading….I chose to go with this set from GoSports. Between having nice long handles and what looked to overall be a lot of positive reviews, I decided it would be best to NOT spend a lot for the game until I know I’m going to enjoy it. Quite often, I tend to buy higher-end products from what I initially considered, and was very tempted to go with one of the Amish-made sets, or one from North Meadow. I like the idea of an 8-player set, but those are hard to find, hence why I liked the Amish sets. Again though, better judgement told me to not to overboard at the start, so I went with this set.

My initial impression? Simply carrying the delivered box inside, I was already wondering “Is this a full croquet set?”, as it seemed surprisingly light. I’d not paid attention to the 11.8 pound shipping weight, which is an obvious clue that this is a lightweight set, but upon looking at other sets on Amazon of similar style (carry bag, 6-player), I found many are even lighter, but the Triumph All Pro (shorter handles, larger mallet heads), North Meadow Scottsdale, and Hathaway Deluxe sets all appear heavier. I overlooked the Hathaway set at the time of this purchase and it may well have been a good mid-tier set to go for. When I opened the box for this GoSports set, I really mulled over for a while whether to remove the plastic-wrapped parts or just ship it back. After a bit more comparison to other sets and seeing that, again, for this price range they are quite similar, I carefully cut open the plastic wrap around each of the handles, mallets, and balls so as to remove a single item of each, assemble it, and take it outside to try a few hits.

First things first…while the set is lightweight and each assembled mallet weighs a mere 1 pound, the mallet does feel better in hand than I expected. There is enough weight there to perform what feels like a pretty solid strike of the ball. The head size is only 1.8 inches in diameter, which seemed small but appears well-matched to a 3-inch diameter ball. The ball itself weights 9.35 ounces, that number sounding lighter than it really is. My mental perception of weight is apparently not very good! The ball felt substantial enough, so between the assembled mallet and ball weights actually in hand, I was feeling better about my purchase. This was confirmed once I laid the ball down in the grass which probably was about 2 inches tall. With a good, solid strike, I probably hit the ball about 18-20 feet, and that too seemed reasonable. A few more strikes were similar and I did feel that with practice, I’d get a good sense of how to play the ball. In the process however, I must have had a glancing strike on the ball, as I found it to already have a divot in it (see provided photo) showing that the balls in this set are not especially durable. Hit the balls clean and square, and they appear to take the hits well, but they do not stand up well to what might be called a “chip shot”. I’m assuming higher-quality balls, pricier ones, will take the abuse better, so here you are probably getting what you pay for. Regardless, I still dock the product 1 star for the reason of the balls not being as durable as I feel they should be.

The provided carrying bag is of canvas, appearing to be perhaps vinyl coated on the inside to give a measure of protection from moisture. The bag is quite ample in size and could likely carry two, fully-assembled croquet sets if so desired, keeping in mind the set is relatively lightweight, so even a 22-lb bag should be manageable. Nothing is provided for secondary storage of either the wickets or balls, so you’re on your own there. I found a long rubber band is quite adequate for the wickets, while an old, thick and long hiking boot sock works great for the balls, the sock folded over at the top end with a rubber band to hold it closed.

I found no problems in the assebly of the mallets and handles….all items were in good condition with no obvious cracks, and the handled tightened securely into the heads without causing the wood to spli.

While GoSports makes no claim to this being a product made in the USA, their warranty states “GoSports is a US company with US customer support 100% satisfaction guarantee”, so just be advised that this product is clearly labeled on the box as “Made in China”, if that concerns you any.

Overall, this is probably a good croquet set for the money, that should hold up well enough to decide whether you want to go for a more premium, expensive croquet set at a later time.

Good quality croquet set, feels lightweight yet still solid, but ball durability questionable

Golden Review Award: 63 From Our UsersThis purchase was beyond my expectations! The quality of all components is superb. The mallets are adult length, but still very usable by our 11 yr old, have nice leather-ish wrap at the top of the handles for grip, and are sturdy & very solid when making impact. The balls have a nice heft to them, like croquet balls should have! Even the carry bag is made of a good quality light canvas material & webbing that will almost surely last for many many years of travel to come!

The great quality of the product itself would have warranted 5 stars, but my experience with GoSports customer service earns a 6th star! As with all mass produced goods there’s a possibility of a manufacturing defect. Our set unfortunately had a defect, whereby one of the mallet heads was cracked with the grain lengthwise. My wife was disappointed, since she loved the set, and wanted it all to be in working order for our family. I contacted Amazon customer service, and to their credit they were willing to refund the product cost or ship a new set out, but only once I sent the entire set back…but I had received the set just in time for my wife’s birthday party (which was a HUGE success in part due to this croquet set!), which meant there were the obligatory grass stains on the mallet heads & balls, etc…rendering the set non-returnable. So…I researched the manufacturer, GoSports, and dropped their customer service a note relaying the situation, to see if I could simply purchase a new mallet head from them. Within 24 hrs I had received a response from a VERY helpful GoSports agent (Adrian) who, upon my emailing of the purchase invoice & a photo of the damaged head, shipped a replacement head of the exact color…for FREE…AND it arrived 24 hrs later!! WOW!! In these days of mediocre (at best) customer service…this was way above & beyond! Thanks GoSports…I’ll be looking for your label on sporting goods in the future!
