Brilliantly made and sturdy toy. Expensive but will last a long time, I can’t see how the kids could break it!! The kids haven’t stopped playing with it since it arrived.
I was looking for one of these for my son who has mild autism to save him trying to pull the ones in the shops. The quality is outstanding as is the attention to detail even on the food items. The boxes are a nice thick cardboard and not flimsy and the tins are sturdy with lids you can open too. Every day my son leaves the house he takes this toy along with him and loves gpi g shopping with it. 100% recommend to anyone
My 3 year old loves this set. I struggled to find things online for a role play supermarket rather than a kitchen, but I stumbled on this set and its perfect. The little apron is very cute and my son loves all the bits it comes with. I find Melissa & Doug products are always great quality and I got this on a deal so it was a bargain price. The only thing I would say, is that at 3 my son doesn’t quite grasp being careful with the cardboard elements of this set so some have been broken and aren’t very durable for his age group.
Great price. Goes with Fresh mart stall which we don’t have, but my granddaughter loved this to make her own shop. Really good value toy
Basket is really sturdy and has nice plastic but other things are cardboard and easy to tear.

So so cute! Great quality, very strong and sturdy. Looks exactly like the real trolleys you use at the shops. Very easy to assemble and comes with everything you need. My son loves it and pushes it around the house often. Also doubles as another means of storage for his toys. It’s my favourite toy he has. Definitely recommend.

This is an excellent quality product. We’ve had several shopping trolleys, plastic and wood, but we’ve been lucky if they’ve lasted more than a day. We got this for Christmas and it’s absolutely perfect. It’s already been loaded up with so many things and rammed into furniture and walls and there’s no damaging it.
his is the 3rd shopping trolley we have purchased .The others were so inferior and unsafe they literally fell apart or was unstable as they were so lightweight.
But this trolley is so sturdy and stable and I think would be very difficult to be pushed over by my granddaughter. It was expensive but I saved money by buying it on amazon market.

Omg this is just adorable, the quality is fantastic, it really is a mini version of an adult one. Comes with lots of accessories including a pencil.and pad to do a shopping list. Really is excellent quality and different to what you see in shops. Worth every penny.
It was an excellent companion to an outdoor shop we had made for our grandsons birthday. He liked the apron n the shopping bag n my daughter said the little signs, money, stick up signs etc. finished the look of the shop off.
If there is one criticism, it is of the plastic ‘seat’ which will not allow the trolley flap to fold flat as with the full-size trolleys. We eventually took the seat off and zip-tied the flap folded shut without it.
There is much to recommend this as a lasting toy and distraction for 3-6 year olds
This is a super play set for imaginative play around shopping for food. It is really well thought through, giving a mini-sized but quite realistic opportunity for little ones to learn how to choose and pay for food items. It includes a staff apron, the products themselves, a shopping bag, grab and go rack and even play money, coupons and cards – and more besides. It really is impressive and my grandkids absolutely love pretending to be grownups doing the weekly shop, just like their parents. In the process they are learning how to count, what sort of products you can buy, how to take turns, how to role play – and at the same time they have so much fun.
A good selection of items for any little wannabe shopkeeper. This set is very cute. The apron and shopping bag is adorable and there are lots of little food boxes and packets to stock your shop. This set goes well with the Melissa and Doug wooden shop however it could be used with any brand of shop. Some assembly is required to put together the boxes which come flat packed however this is quite simple and when build are very strong. Kids will love this set and have hours of fun buying and selling these lovely items.

It’s on the high side price-wise, but we think it’s worth it for the details they have thought about when they made it.

My nephew immediately loved this, and of course I then became the customer who had to go and choose the things I needed on my list. We got a bit confused about who should be paying money to whom, but there’s no denying the enthusiasm! This set contains a whole array of shopping paraphernalia, including a bag, a display unit, an apron (with sensible velcro fastenings), money (dollars in notes and coins) and other bits and bobs. There are boxes of things to buy (sturdy cardboard) and a “magazine” for the display. So there is lots to play with, and it’s well made, so it should last. The only thing to note is that the packaging shows a cashier’s counter, which is not included in this set.
Oh my god this set it beautiful! Brought it for my son to go with the Melissa and Doug shop… it’s amazing!!! So good for the price, not one fault. And looks bloody good!!!
I like this role play set, designed to accompany the large wooden Melissa and Doug Fresh Mart supermarket set, but easily useable for retail-based role play without this. The set includes a range of different types of play pieces – some wooden (including a packet of gum, a granola bar, and a lip salve), some fabric (an apron and a reusable shopping bag), some plastic (play money coins and a couple of food can with opening lids), and some paper and card (including play money notes and food package cartons).
The range of pieces is really good, including things that often aren’t included in role play sets – such as queue line and newsagent style items, a name badge for a shop staff member to wear, pretend gift cards, a checkout divider, and coupons in addition to money for customer use. The play money is US-currency based, with notes and coins in dollars and cents.
Some of the pieces aren’t the most durable as they’re cardboard boxes (supplied flat with instructions for correct folding to make them up) – but you can always add your own saved packages to increase the range and number of items for sale and make up for any tattier boxes.
This set goes with the Melissa & Doug Fresh Mart Free Standing Grocery Store. You can use this as a play set on its own, but certain parts, such as the magazine rack and the ‘Employee of the Week’ card, do clip onto the grocery story. Obviously, you can use them independently, but this is a lovely companion set to the Grocery Store.
You receive a Magazine Rack, with all sorts of little accessories, such as snacks and magazines, to buy, an apron, shopping and a divider for the conveyer belt, an activity card — showing the ‘Employee of the Week!” which would work really well in a nursery setting, some play money (American, so you could easily get some English play money), some play food — mostly fold up boxes (again, play food is very cheap to get, so you can add to this). Overall, a lovely set and the apron and magazine rack are quite unusual. Overall, a lovely toy, which is a great addition to the Grocery Store.
This Melissa & Doug Freshmart set is made as an accessory pack to the Freshmart grocery store https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07322QNP7 but also works as a standalone grocery shopping essentials pack too. There are 70 plus pieces in the set and a couple of them only work with the freestanding store eg the magazine and snack rack clips onto the shelf (see my pic). Also there is a shelf clip for the Freshmart employee of the week and special offers reversible sign. All the food boxes come flat and you have to assemble them yourself (really easy to do) They are made from very thick cardboard which will withstand quite a lot of abuse but eventually will get destroyed if not taken care of (or sat on!). I love the attention to detail with the food and the labels are very recognisable. There are a couple of cardboard tins with removable lids. An apron with a removable sign Hello my name is in a little pocket. A fabric shopping tote bag. A wooden lane closed sign. An open sign and some special offer signs.Charge card and savings card plus a gift card in packaging and a magazine. All the signs and the magazine are made out of a very thick and durable vinyl plastic which makes them long lasting and also means that they are washable and you can use a washable marker pen on them (not included). My particular favourite items are the wooden bubble gum, 2 snack bars and lip balm. So cute and realistic. These and the magazine fit in the grab and go shelf. Also included is a tonne of play money both paper notes and plastic coins. Most of these items can be used without the need to have the grocery store and can be used for any role playing with a till etc. Would be especially good for nurseries and preschools to encourage role play. Very good value for money.
This is a brilliant set for imaginative play, packed with so many tiny details that bring the toys to life and act as great cues for role play.
The set is intended to accompany another role play shop front, but works fine as a standalone gift. The toy money is something that a lot of children might have picked up in other gift sets, but things like the apron, shopping bag and magazine rack are like nothing I’ve seen in other roleplay sets.
Combine these little details with all the boxes of food etc and kids can create a really convincing grocery store, emulating everyday life and having loads of fun while doing so!
I got this free to try from the Amazon Vine Programme in exchange for an unbiased review ,and I think it’s very good value; it’s intended as a companion to the Melissa & Doug Fresh Mart Grocery Store,but that’s too expensive for me to buy. However,this well made set has got loads of good stuff; there’s nearly 70 bits and bobs all together, including an apron,name tag, money,shopping bag,cans and food boxes. We’ve already got a till,so we can use the coffee table and our imaginations, and shop away to our heart’s content! As usual with Melissa & Doug,everything is strong and well finished, and the whole set comes in a sturdy cardboard case with a carry handle, so there’s no problem when packing everything away after a busy day.
We had an issue with the seat which was bent in the box and didn’t fit in the slot. I rang the helpline and they were fab! They sent me another seat so that Teddy could have a ride too.
Overall a massive success and 5 out of 5!
This was a Christmas present for my son, purchased in the hope it would make my weekly shop a bit less stressful. He absolutely loves it, it’s taken the tantrums out of shopping, and it feels really nice and sturdy. The amount of comments we’ve had when walking around with it is incredible, and my son loves putting stuff in his trolley. The only downside, which has more to do with my son than the item, is that it allrently is great fun to crash into things and people, which isn’t the most comfortable thing! We’ve bought a pool noodle we’re hoping to cut down to size and attach to the front to minimise any damage done!
He’s taken it to Asda and Sainsburys and the local co-op ande very time we get comments about how fantastic it is. People stop me to ask where I got it from. Absolutely worth the cost, it’s a solid structure. Highly recommended for sure.
Beautifully made. Looks and moves just like the real thing ! I bought this for a nursery and it’s adored! Reviews I have read don’t seem to add up; all of my two year olds even one that was prem and is tiny can push this around it’s not too big at all? Perfect for 2-5years! And there isn’t a sharp edge to this item? And with regards to it needing to be outside I disagree; we have 30-40 children playing around this toy and it hasn’t hurt anyone… Supervision…as will all toys is best. I would highly recommend! Not only as a toy at home but for a nursery or to keep your child entertained while you do your weekly shop.
The cart section is too small for a child to climb into which is a safety feature that I hadn’t considered until my Gdaughter climbed into her dolls pram and tipped it over! All in all I think this is worth the price and I have no regrets about choosing this item over other cheaper models.
Bought this for my two year old who hates sitting in the trolly when shopping and was hoping this would encourage her to stay with me. We knew the plastic trolleys are very light and too easy to tip over so went for this one instead.
Have to say it is a fantastic buy! Amazingly well made, solid, sturdy …. A perfect toddler/child replica of a real shopping trolly. My daughter loves pushing her trolly around the supermarket, collecting the items on her list etc, it has made shopping a lot less stressful for Mummy and daughter!
Like others, I have had constant comments in how cute the trolly is from other shoppers, as well as many other parents asking where I bought it from.
All in all a fantastic trolly and I’m so pleased we purchased it.
If you decide to buy this for your child I would have it sent to an alternative delivery address, to prevent this from happening again.
